@DGF

Somebody forwarded me this link about update on Public Charge DS-5540.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html

“Applicants are not required to complete nor should they present the DS-5540, Public Charge Questionnaire in interview”.

Simple Question:  My interview is Monday at 9:15 am.  I have my "for sure" documents in a folder, but I also have a plastic accordion file with extra documents and pictures etc, just in case.  Is a plastic accordion file acceptable in the Consulate? Thank you everyone for all your help especially @Hawk Riders  God bless you all in your interviews and your journeys to the USA and your reunions with your spouses.  You are a special group.

Maybe I will see you leaving! My interview is at 11😬

Fingerprinted on 9 September, and got it in the mail on 18September in Calgary. Not bad.

Good turnaround time.

Canadian spouse has one expiring Oct 10, with interview Oct 14. Got reprinted on the 11th so it should arrive any day now!

In June 2019 @KartineeKartoons started a group message for Canadian spousal applicant VJers who were stuck in the Montreal interview scheduling backlog. They invited members at the same stage in the IV process and the message group has remained active more than a year later, currently with 199 VJ members. Not all members are active in the conversation, and a few weeks ago someone suggested it was time to disband the message group.

I am inviting all the active members to hold our discussion here, publicly in the forum, moving forward. Having our collective experiences and knowledge siloed behind closed doors is a disservice to the the whole of the VJ community. Let's strengthen the community as a whole by making a shift.

Invitations: @DGF @shammykay @Tofu @sjb17 @rainbow-skies @Mzamour @Cath&Claire @sh114 @S.H.11 @Leah123 @DoubleE @Hadarah @MWhite @legendqueue @SeriaRisa11 @PawlD @i5love @Jay&Sid @mizzem @Kingsrish @Abhikochar @Je9ala @Madison99 @ArgiE0601 @Lovepeace0303 @leo18 @A&RN @marahm18 @acmanu @Sanmcall @Dkw @SASAS @Romans13 @Rose__ @InspectorGrover @canadavisa22 @chefcurry88 @lngtimecoming @Lovenature @mam521 @Noam D @Pat1976 @dee&vee @AMSAL @ReadIcculus @Jacqueline H @Couchpotato560 @Dbrennan @eketros @MrsDex @wordsfromdani @kburbasaur @Jenn&Matt @Waitin-Game @mika__ @Specter @ameena1423 @chanel167 @TOtoVA @Michelle_VM @BunyanP @HRubin @Irregularblob @US-EH @C&L2018 @rafale1973 @Lois K @2Ps @Rush11 @jackanddeona @Kaleigh11 @vjcl @SJS8581 @Ptitchou @fxch3 @starboogie @tmac99 @Flowergirl 737 @Prairiegirl3 @Skaur0609 @Cammabear @Emilini @jacketconfident @eagle212 @betzzymathew @Sarjb77 @Akaur @JACHA @Rotorhead @BeeSee @CGs_Mother @SAsal @Todd@Alya @Hamlet @AfterTheSnow @JandTK @Mel and Deb @Abe&Noha @anto3knee @PennyLaneB @JenTex @Aminac13 @Canadiangirl38 @Jaret&Rachael @llednew.rm

Group members not specifically listed above haven't signed into and/or read VJ messages for a while but are more than welcome to participate.

Let's all help keep information accessible to all and transparent, and alleviate the anxiety other visa applicants experience navigating this convoluted process.

Thanks for doing this!

That's correct.

While in the pandemic state of emergency (or any other per court injunction)  1999 public charge standards apply. You can Google search to find that; no forms are involved.

Same. Mine expires November 6th. I will go get a new one soon. I do hope to get an interview in November or December at the latest.
anxiously awaiting October now to see if we get ILs the first 2 weeks of the month.

Mine expires November 6th too! I'm almost certainly going back to Canada on Monday (earlier than I would like due to needing to get a third police certificate) so I am also anxiously awaiting October to see if ILs are sent out.

I have added that link to the FAQ. I'm personally still going to bring the DS-5540 with me though because I'm not taking any chances after waiting over 2 years for this visa 😂

Now that it's searchable, it will also (hopefully) reduce the number of times we have to tell folks this has already been covered, go back to page... :)

Thinking out loud here, but now that this is searchable is there still a need to update the FAQ? I wouldn't get rid of it since there is so much in there that was from the group chat and cannot be searched, but updating it might be redundant since any new information can now easily be searched on VJ.

I think it's a bad idea for outdated information to float around & would strongly encourage continued maintenance. If the task seems too much, recruit assistance!

That's true. My goal with the FAQ is to be as helpful as possible to as many people as possible so I figured I'd do a check in to see if continued maintenance would be helpful or not.

That being said, if anyone is interested in helping please let me know! I don't need any help yet (it really isn't time consuming keeping it up to date, just a few minutes here and there) but I will likely be taking a bit of a break from VJ after I move so I would love to have someone in place to maintain it when I can't.

More important is your DQ date - but yes, once you update your timeline it’s easier to give an estimate.
