Our Story

  1. Me and my partner are looking for the best way to proceed. I'm from Italy, he's USC. Since the waiting time is almost the same, we're leaning to get married and proceed with a CR-1 visa, more than picking the K1 path. Our concern about this is the traveling while the I-130 is pending. What are the chances of a tourist visa getting denied because of this? Would this be a problem only with a pending I-130 or also with a pending I-129F? I know for this purpose there's the K3 visa, but the waiting time is the same so there's no point. We are willing to wait for the whole procedure to go through, but not being able to see each other in the meantime would be crazy. Thank you for the help!
  2. All right friends, let's get this thread started so we can stay in touch about progress as it comes. I'm a USC petitioner, living with my husband (New Zealand/British citizen) in Ireland. Here's what's happened with my case so far: 1/6/2023: Filed I-130 online. Got NOA1 and active review right away. NOA1 was from Nebraska. 1/7/2023: Got one of those generic "we have taken action on your case" emails. No change in the online tool, so I asked Emma to see if my case had been transferred. Agent said it was in Texas. 1/10/2023: Another of the same email. Asked Emma again out of curiosity. Case still in Texas, so perhaps the action taken was to assign it to an officer 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure we are many months out from any action, but my engineer brain wants to understand how the operations of all this works. It's awful but sort of fascinating. Best of luck to you all.
  3. I applied for K1 visa and received case number in September 2022. Currently processing time for K1 is 15.5 months and Cr1(I-130) is 10 months. I’m thinking to get married and restart the process by filing for CR1 instead. Initially I applied for K1 thinking it would be faster, but that seems not to be the case anymore. I’d appreciate any advice you could provide me.
  4. Hi All, Has anyone filed a petition for both parents and got 2 different processing times? We filed for both parents online at the same time and our case status came back with Mom's processing time as 5 months but Dad's processing time is 12 months. When we received our letters for both, they came from Texas Service Center. But when we called USCIS to get more info, the rep said that Dad's case is at Nebraska Service Center. J&P Cali ☀️
  5. Hi - Love this community. When submitting proof of seeing each other. I don't have boarding passes for all of the trips visiting each other, but I do have a lot of emailed receipts from the airlines of the flights showing that I visited with names and dates, as well as airbnb receipts of being together (all through email or downloaded). Is this okay? Anything I should know when putting this evidence together?
  6. I filed on December 10 2022 online for spouse living abroad. PD-12/10/2022 NOA1- same date US citizen filing spouse K3 filed/mailed on 12/12/2022 no received notice yet. Received email on 12/13/2022 saying “we have taken action on your case” no status update as of yet. Again received another email next day saying same thing no status update as well as nothing on documents tab except Notice pdf which was there since the file date 12/10/2022. anyone received similar email ?
  7. Hi all. First time caller here 🤪. I (USC) and spouse (F1) are about to send this i130 (and all the other forms concurrently). Can you tell me if this list of evidence looks adequate for proof of relationship? Contains both our names at the same address: -Rent bill -Internet bill -Renters insurance policy -2 months joint bank account statements (this account is new but it has plenty of activity) -2 pieces of misc mail -A letter from our apartment management company noting my husbands move in date (I signed the lease long before we lived together and they say can't add anyone to an existing lease, only allow for "occupants") Note I did include the rent bill above which does have both our names on it. Additional: -Printouts of all my financial accounts w/ him listed as a beneficiary -Copy of marriage license -A couple photos from the courthouse wedding -About 15 photos of us together doing stuff out and about (incl. a couple w/ friends/family) w/ captions -About a dozen pages of text message exchanges -2 affidavits from family -a couple of tickets from plays/events we went to -a few postcards I mailed him from trips I took w/out him Things we don't have: -Life insurance -Shared health insurance (this won't happen until beginning of next year but it can be provided at interview) -Travel evidence (we haven't gone anywhere b/c Covid and we don't have a lot of time/money to go places). I did include 2 photos of us on different camping trips if that means anything. -Additional wedding stuff (invitations, receipts, etc). We just went to the courthouse b/c we didn't want an elaborate affair. Only 1 witness was allowed. There was no reception or other party after. -Social media evidence as we don't use it. Is there anything you think is missing? Thank you!
  8. My wife is a born US citizen an we are trying to complete the I -130 form by ourselves. In this form they ask for her parent's address of residence. But her mom passed aways many years ago, should i leave it blank or write DECEASED?
  9. Hi, I am a US citizen and I filed I130 for my parents in July 1st, 2022. The "Estimated time until case decision" gone from 4 weeks left to, 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week and now saying "Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time.". It has been saying this for 3 weeks now.
  10. Hello! My I-130 petitioner interview is coming up and I am second guessing if I have enough evidence to prove that my husband and I live at a shared address. The official I-130 guidance for this is: NOTE: In addition to the required documentation listed above, you should submit one or more of the following types of documentation that may prove you have a bona fide marriage: (1) Documentation showing joint ownership of property; (2) A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence, meaning you both live at the same address together; When I moved in with my husband, he already owned his house and I have been paying him rent directly ever since. We did not set up a contract for this, but as part of the evidence, I have included his bank statement which shows a bank transfer of the agreed rent amount from me each month. We are not on any shared bills together. As evidence, I have supplied: Joint Name and Address Documents: - Vet Bills with both of our names and address - Car Insurance with both of our names and address Other than this, I have: - My licence, tax documents, payslips, bank statements all with the same address - His licence, tax documents, payslips, bank statements, house bills - all with the same address I have also included details of the rent I pay my husband in the cover letter. Do you think this will be sufficient evidence to prove that we reside at the same address despite not having joint ownership of the property? Is it worth creating a tenancy contract between me and my husband to prove my tenancy at this address or do you think the evidence I already have will suffice? Thank you!
  11. So I had leverage over my wife from Gerogia compelling her to pay for our divorce, after I collected screenshots from her two phones showing that she cheated on me. She has already received her two year conditional greencard and work authorization and SS # from around August-October, 2022. I kicked her out of my apartment, she’s never been on the lease and is not on the lease, but she would receive mail here since we’ve been married since August 2021. I’ve since demanded that she change her mailing address, I don’t know if she has. There’s still mail coming here for her as of 11/28/2022, we filed for divorce 11/14/2022. So how can I redraw my sponsorship of her without being held liable? I’m in NYC by the way, and according to the divorce attorney, the divorce will be final in June or July 2023. Also her belongings are still in the apartment, she only took what she could carry when I kicked her out on 11/13/2022.
  12. Hi, i just received our rejection notice for my green card application. I applied for a concurrent filing i-130 and i-485 (from tourist visa). It was rejected due to missing one page. Which is i completely sure i submitted all pages and the missing one page is the page 16 of i-485 where i signed. All documents submitted were returned with their initials and barcode st the bottom of each documents. My question is do i need to print all forms and supporting documents? Or only the i-485 which is they told me there is missing page. And when i checked the updated forms online the i-765 and i-131 has oct 31, 2022 edition. My i-765 form is july 2022 edition but valid til jan 2023. So im confused if i need to reprint it again with the new edition. i hope someone can help me with my inquiries thank you
  13. I have received a date for the first step interview at DCF in London! Right now I'm preparing everything asked for on the I-130 checklist and getting as prepared as I can for my spouse's interview in the future (should all go well!) Question: On the I-130 checklist it says: ❑ Passports: Current and previous passports for U.S. citizen petitioner and beneficiary Does this mean we need to submit all of our expired passports as well as our current? Like all the way from childhood? May be interpreting this wrong but wanted to ask in case. Question 2: Is it the printable I-130 and I-130A document from the USCIS website that I need to bring? Is there another source for I-130? Or do I need to complete it digitally and then print it. Question 3: It is not included on the checklist, but we will be using a second sponsor due to my US income not reaching the £60k min. Do we submit this at this stage or the next stage when my spouse is interviewed? Thank you!
  14. I couldn’t find a thread for October 2022 I-130 filers here is my timeline so far Filed: Oct 3, 2022 NOA1: Oct 6, 2022. Guys let's use this post to keep track of our cases. Good luck everyone.
  15. Read a post recently about the importance of detail when filling out the DCF London contact form and am now worried about my submission. (I haven't received a reply yet but it was submitted very recently.) A couple questions... 1. My main worry is that I asked about filing CR1 for my UK spouse through DCF in the contact form and now I worry I should have asked for I-130. The reason I did not say I-130 in the form is because I know this is the first step to filing CR1 anyway. Other than that I was as detailed as possible. Should I be worried about this / could this be a potential slip up that affects me? And if so... 2. If needed, can further detail to your enquiry be added later? There was no email confirmation of submitted enquiry that followed up my enquiry, so I don't know if this is an option. I may just be letting worry get to me too quickly, but if this is something I have slipped up on I'd rather know now!
  16. Hi, I am having a pretty big headache right now for filing I130 for my wife. I have two questions and hope to get some answers online but so far no luck. I am hoping that your value experience can help me. 1, on page 7 of I130, part 4, beneficiary's entry information. My wife did entered US as F-1 before but currently she's in Canada. And for item 47 "passport number", which number should I put? She entered US with her old passport (A) and her old name but right now she has a new passport after changed her name, but this new passport (B) was never used for entering US. Should I put A on item 47 or B? 2, on page 8, item 57.a-f. Since she's from non-roman letter speaking country, I know that I need to put her native spelling for a to c. But currently she's residing in Canada as a worker (not PR), do I just ignore that part or put her home country address on it with native spelling? I know it's confusing but technically speaking, her current "permanent" address is Canada, right? Thank you so much for your help!!!
  17. Hello all, We recently got our I-130 approved and have submitted the necessary docs for the DQ process at NVC. While this is being done, my beneficiary may need to change her address. If she does happen to move, how do I notify the NVC about this change? Will it impact the overall processing time and will I need to submit a fresh PCC? I am not sure if the AR-11 would be applicable in this situation. Any thoughts you all can share are greatly appreciated. TIA.
  18. Hello, Wanted to start a topic for June filers to follow and track Petition approval as they start coming in. Submitted I-130 petition for both parents online and they show submitted as of June 28, 2022. Currently application are showing processing times of 5 and 8 months.
  19. I have a question my friend is a United States Citizen, she filed for her husband and kids. They husband got approved and was sent to the nvc, but the kids got approved but need an i-824 to be sent to the NVC. The person who helped prepare their paper i-130 made a mistake. I would like to know if there is a way to speed the kids i130/1824.
  20. Hi! My partner currently has a I-130 Visa Application that was approved & DQ by NVC on November 30th, 2021. He received a letter & email stating that NVC will work with the U.S Embassy/Consulate in SANTO DOMINGO to schedule an interview appointment. However he has not received any further communication & it has been almost one year. I am new to this process as we have been only dating for a year & his entire visa process has been ongoing for seven years, but want to help as much as I can. His category is F1 - Children of U.S. citizens that are unmarried & over the age of 21. I see online that other visa categories have received an interview within 3-5 months of becoming DQ. I am wondering if his category is low priority which is why he has not received an interview. Is anyone currently experiencing long visa interview scheduling in the same category & have you reached out & received any feedback from NVC or U.S Embassy/Consulate in SANTO DOMINGO? Thank you so much.
  21. Hello All, I got My US Citizenship last week (Oct 13th, 2022) and planning to apply for Parent's Green Card. but in my case, the Parent's B2 Visa interview is scheduled for Jan 10th, 2023. my concern is if I apply for I-130 now will it impact my B2 visa application? should I apply after I-130 after the B2 Visa interview? TIA..!

MY husband tps ends in dec from el salvdor
  23. So I filed for my husband beginning of this year. We should hopefully receive feedback about the I-130 by end of year. My husband put off traveling to Canada for grad school due to the pandemic. He really wants to go back to grad school, but he is afraid leaving the country He is in now to go to Canada may disrupt the filling process. Has anyone been in this situation or dealt with something similar?
  24. Good Morning, I'm at a similiar point also. I have alot of address history, i stayed at my brothers on splitting up with my ex etc so its all grey. How strict are they on it? I have my main addresses however the dates i am totally unsure of. Any advice?
  25. My partner applied for my I-130 back in June 2022 under my maiden name as that is the name currently in my UK passport. I wish to get my passport changed to my married name and get a new passport. Will this delay or mess up my visa application? Or will the visa need to be in the name I originally applied under?
