  1. I'm filling out the I-864 form right now for a K-1 visa and have a few questions regarding the joint sponsor since I was recently graduated from college and have no income at the moment. I will be using my parents as joint sponsor and they filed their tax as joint marriage. Since my dad is the head of the household , does he fill out the second I-864 form and my mom will be filling out the I-864A form? . Also, since both of my parents filed tax jointly . Do I submit the same tax transcript for both of them ? or should i submit the tax return copies ? Thanks a lot .
  2. Hello there! I hope this finds you ALL well. I was just wondering if I could get some more information on the CR-1/IR-1 visa route. My fiance and I planned to pursue the K-1 Visa but upon the learning about the CR-1/IR-1 option we may be leaning towards that option more. The reasoning for this is due to the fact that you can work much more quickly upon entry on the CR-1/IR-1 Visa. I will list my questions below and if you would be so kind as to help me with them I would be so grateful! My questions are as follows: 1. I have heard that with the CR-1/IR-1 route that you cannot visit the USA while you are waiting for the visa, is this true? I have also heard the exact opposite and I would like to know for sure as not to compromise the integrity of the petition. If I am in fact not allowed to travel to the USA after filing the I-130, why is this? 2. It says on visa journey that for CR-1/IR-1 route takes 13 months on average but why would it take this long and does it usually? We are trying to find the right time to file so that I can be there next year (2020) by the end of the year. 3. Do you happen to know the general route of the CR-1/IR-1 visa? I know that you file I-130 and I-130a but whats to come after that? I am not very clear when it comes to what comes after that especially in terms of paper work. 4. How much does having a co-sponsor complicate the situation? We will need a co-sponsor to bring me down there and I am not entirely sure how to go about that. Do both my fiance and the co-sponsor have to fill out separate Affidavit of Support forms (equaling a total of 2 forms)? Thank you so much for your time and help, Allison
  3. Hello! My fiance (USA) and I (CANADIAN) have been together for about 3 years now and are planning on having me come to the USA on the K-1 Visa. If any of you wouldn’t mind sharing your personal experience with the K-1 Visa I would be very grateful. I also have many many questions about this visa and how it works so if anyone is able to help me by answering some of my questions I would be very grateful for that as well. Experience from anyone, not just Canadians, are welcome! I’ll list some of the questions that I have below although I feel as if I will always have more and more questions. 1. ON the USCIS website there is no mention of having to fill out forms 1-134 or I-864 but they are both mentioned on the travel.state.gov website but they don't guarantee that they will be requested. I am wondering what the circumstances are that those forms would be requested. Also, Is the income level based on only the sponsor or their entire household? 2. As per the medical examination that is required for the K-1 Visa, I was wondering if anyone knew the average cost of the exam and the average time until the results are ready to be picked up. My reasoning is that I will have to travel to Montreal for the examination AND the interview so I would like to be properly prepared for the trip. hopefully only one trip can be made as it is very expensive to fly to Montreal. 3. I have heard that once you enter the USA on the K-1 visa and get merried that you cannot leave the USA for 6 months although it says nothing about this rule on travel.state.gov or the USCIS website. Does anyone know where it states that this is true? 4. Just to be clear, once we file form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status and get my green card, how long do I have to have my green card before I can technically become a citizen? How does one go about that when the time comes? 5. Is it worth is to file I-765, Application for Employment Authorization? I can work after I file I-485 so will it take longer for I-765 or I-485 to be reviewed and accepted?
  4. Hi everyone Dunno if this came up anywhere before, but I would be happy to hear your comments/suggestions about this topic. Got my SSN back in 1992 in Hartford CT, when I was attending the college. After a loooong time, I realized that my SSN card doesnt have any remarks or restriction on the face. So here are my questions: 1) Does this mean that I have an "Unrestricted SSN" ? 2) Can I apply to a job in U.S without needing a work visa sponsorship? 3) I currently have a U.S tourist visa good for 10 years, can I just come in and start working for a company / or start my own company in U.S? 4) Can I come in with that Tourist visa and apply for permanent residency? Thank you all in advance
  5. Just Curious I had a question can the state of emergency be a good reason to request a expedite in your case? The record Death toll in the country last year, the United State increasing the travel level to 2 and the country itself enacting a State of Emergency in a particular region where your spouse live? How do you request a expedite?
  6. Hi all! We received the NOA2 about a week and a half ago, I just want to make sure I understand the next steps. Here is what I believe is next: Until the application has left the NVC, we will not hear anything. When it does leave the NVC, we will receive notification of this and receive the case number. I understand that in the meantime, we can call the NVC to get the case number prior to receiving the letter. Once it gets to the London Embassy, I (the beneficiary) will receive notification of this and the next steps. I assume this will include information on how to pay the visa fee and how to book both the medical and the interview. I pay the visa fee and book the medical and the interview. I make sure I have the following information: Passport with at least 6 months left before expiry 2 photos that meet Department of State requirements Birth certificate (I have a certified copy) Police certificate Form I-134, Affidavit of Support (As my Fiancé is at university and does not meet the income requirements, I have a form filled out by her as it is required for the petitioner to fill one out, but I also have one filled out by her mother to meet the income requirements) $265 ready for the Visa Fee Vaccination proof (Question about this below) 4 photos that meet Department of State requirements for the medical £330 for the medical exam A printed copy of DS-160 completion confirmation A complete copy of the initial application (I-129F) Copy of Form I-797C and Form I-797 (NOA1 & NOA2) Proof of ongoing relationship. Go for the medical exam, and then wait at least 5 working days for the results to get to the Embassy before having my interview Go to the interview. Get Approved (Hopefully) Wait around 1 week to receive the Visa and have the passport returned Questions: Vaccinations; I was born in Greece (I only have British Citizenship though), and the vaccinations I had are on the vaccination proof, however, they are missing the batch numbers. I read on another post that the medical requires the vaccination proof to also have the batch numbers on all vaccinations. Can anybody verify if this is the case? I am going to my doctors soon anyway to make sure I have all of them as I don't fully understand how to compare the letter from my doctor to the vaccination chart provided by the Embassy. Medical History; Do I have to get my full medical history for when I go to the medical? Am I missing or misinformed about anything? I appreciate your time, I will be writing posts about my experiences at the interview and medical in case anybody would like to read them in the future. Thank you all! Liam
  7. I'm going to apply for my girlfriends k1 visa fiancée visa I'm an american citizen we just had a babygirl and I apply for her CRBA last month my question is she already had another girl from a different relationship does her daughter (my stepdaughter) can she also be included in the visa since she's a minor 7 years old or is there other paper work thanks for all the help in advance
  8. Our petition finally got approved on 01/29/2019. In the NAO2 received from USCIS, it states they have sent the original petition to the NVC. It then states to allow a minimum of 30 days before contacting the NVC. Never states business days. When we contact the NVC directly, they quote 6 weeks. When we've contacted USCIS, the agents quote the entire process from NAO2 to the NVC giving out a case number can take up to 90 days. It all just seems really inconsistent. We're at 22 days of just waiting for our case to be shipped. We've read multiple forums where either USCIS never ships it out to the NVC or the NVC takes weeks to process. Does anyone know what timeline to trust and what the official timeline should be to contact for resolution that isn't just a copy and paste response? Has anyone actually seen their USCIS account/receipt number status change when officially shipped?
  9. Hi, I need some help regarding the DNA testing that they required for us to undergo. We’ve received a letter from the embassy, requesting for a DNA to be held for my Grandma, father and other 2 siblings. My grandma, who’s residing in California, is going back to Philippines this coming feb. 2019. is it possible for her to do the DNA testing in St. Lukes here in manila? I’ve checked on the official website that St. Lukes is accredited. Although i am not certain if it’s possible. I called the US embassy’s call center hotline but their answer seemed so confusing and they seem to be not so sure about the info. any insights will be deeply appreciated!

  11. Hello I am currently in the process of filling out the DS-160 application and came across the question; Have you ever entered the U.S.? I live in Niagara falls Canada and have frequently visited the states throughout my life. Is this question really requiring me to identify all 40-50 times I've entered over 20 years? Thank you for your time and wisdom!
  12. I am a U.S. Citizen and I am filling I-130 petition for my spouse. I married her in November 3, 2018. Her mother who is also a US citizen filed a I-130 petition to change her status from B2 visa to F1 in May 2015 then in April, 2016 the petition was approved, in June, 2016 she receive a letter for the National Visa Center telling her "A visa number is unaivalable and this petition is not elegible for further processing". Now, I don't know how to answer the question "Has anyone else ever filed a petition for the beneficiary?" in form I-130, in other word, I don't know if counts as a petition or not. Should I answer YES or NOT? I need help! Please. Thanks!
