  1. Hello All, I am creating this topic to gain some knowledge of the process of getting my mother a PR here. She is currently in the US, and per USCIS, it does mention that i can concurrently submit I-130, and I-485. I have queries about the following, in hopes someone out-there can help me! 1. Should i submit both? or to be safe and cost effective should i use start with I-130? If i do only the I-130, will it impact her stay here? 2. Upon submission of one or both documentation, can she remain in the country or leave after 6 months of being here? 3. Is it possible to submit both documentations online? Appreciate your time and knowledge in this! Hope this thread will be helpful to other too!!
  2. Greetings. Hoping to get some tips and/or advice on an immigration/health insurance predicament. My wife and I are looking to sponsor her mother’s immigration from the Philippines to come live with us. She is approaching 86 y.o., her lease agreement is running out on her apartment, doesn’t have any family over there in a position to take care of her, and reaching an age where she’s no longer a good candidate for living alone. The thing that concerns us is her health care options once she arrives. I called Kaiser to see if she can be included in our family coverage and they said we’d have to go through Covered Ca. I went to Covered Ca. and they said there was nothing she qualified for (because of her age an pending immigration status) and that we’d have to talk with Social Services. Social Services doesn’t return phone calls. Taking the risk of NOT insuring her, with her potentially needing some complicated procedure, could very well wipe out the little we have saved for our own retirement. I’ve looked at some expensive “Bridge” policies but they’re pretty brutal in regard to pre-existing conditions and excluding anyone with diabetes. We are really in the dark with this and hoping someone might have gone through this themselves or might have some insights into these circumstances. Thanks!!
  3. My father's initial status was Administrative Processing after his immigrant visa interview on June 27. He had to submit a few documents like updated police certificate and family registry and i864-A so he was given 221g. After submitting the documents on July 17, my mother's visa went from READY TO ISSUED on Aug 1 and my father's visa went from AP to READY FOR INTERVIEW. The date has been updated a few times but case still ready for interview. No feedback from embassy. Please help if you know anything about this scenario!
  4. I will be filing I130 (counselor process)for my dad after my naturalization. My dad's name in his school leaving certificate is written <firstnamapart1firstnamepart2> space <lastname>. On his marriage certificate and passport it is <firstnamapart1> space <firstnamepart2> space <lastname>. There is an extra space in his first name would that be grounds for RFE/denial. Should we spend time and effort to get space removed from first name in his passport and marriage certificate. PS: When data of birth certificate is not available USCIS will accept school leaving certificate along with non available certificate as proof of DOB and name.
  5. Hi everyone. I've been a bit stressed, there is no progress in my Father's case. Last month i sent an email to USCIS about my Father's case being out of the normal processing time. I received an email back saying it is under review by an Officer. Prior to that the only update i got was the NOA1 in June of 2018. In two weeks it'll be a year since i've filed. Has anyone had the same situation where the case is out of the normal processing time? What happens after a year of filing does the case get expired at a certain time? Thank you in advance.
  6. I am currently attempting to fill out a I-130 form for my father. He is currently in Peru and has been there since 1994 (past 10 year ban). He was deported after being found guilty for a felony of theft in VA. My question is, is filling out an I-130 form the only action that I can perform, or is this situation become too complicated that would require a lawyer? Thank you for your help!
  7. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but just want to make extra sure. My fiancé's (beneficiary's) mother is deceased. What should I list for her city/town/village and country of residence on the I-129f? Should I list where she previously lived? Or just put N/A and explain that she is deceased? Thank you!
  8. Hello everyone! It seems like there isn't a May 2018 I-130 thread for U.S. Citizens applying for parents through consular processing. I will be sending mom's application 5/24/18, right after I leave my Naturalization Ceremony everything is ready to go, just waiting on that certificate! From what I have been reading from last year threads, the whole process is taking around a year, give or take. I-130 approval seems to be around 6-8 months (it can be more or less, of course). Please share your input! Hope to talk to you all soon! Good luck to all of us!
  9. Hello, I have a serious question -- that I am currently struggling with: Currently, I am a 28 yo male, naturalized Citizen, living in the USA. My biological mother currently lives in Venezuela. I was adopted as an adult, however, at the age of 26 for reasons that are not important for this post. My question is whether I can petition for my biological mother despite the fact that I was legally adopted. Any feedback is appreciated. This is really weighing heavy on my mind.
  10. Hello, we are about to send our I-129f this weekend. Is it okay to have a check not from the petitioner, but from someone else (for example petitioner's parent) ? Many thanks for quick help!!
  11. Can a daughter with US Citizenship over 21+ years old sponsor her parent from the Ukraine (a non- visa waiver country) if he: 1) comes over on a B-1/B-2 visa first 2) Daughter applies for the I-30 based on IR-5 parent of US Citizen (takes 5-9 months) 3) Father applies for the I-539 to extend their stay until the I-30 is approved? I have not looked into this for a long time but in the past, I thought that the parent would be required to leave the country before being allowed back into the USA under the I-130. Another issue that could arise if the process took longer and his extension expired, would he need to leave the country or could he just get another extension?
