  1. Submitted on January 20, 2022 Immediately went into 'Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS' Texas Service Center
  2. My husband petitioned his mother in 2020. It took a while to get all of the paperwork submitted properly as the birth certificate office had changed in the Philippines. All of the forms were accepted in July 2021. Any idea what the timeline is with Covid world changes?
  3. Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this question has been answered but I did a search on Visajourney and couldn't find a thread regarding this topic. I'd appreciate guidance from anyone who may have knowledge on this. I filed a DS-260 for my mom, and it was conditionally approved in May 2021. Next step was to wait for the US Embassy in India (possibly the one in Mumbai) to schedule an appointment for interview, but that has understandably been delayed due to COVID. That being said, I can't find any information anywhere online whether the embassies have started scheduling appointments for the visa interview, what the wait times are, what dates they are currently processing, etc. It's been such a long time waiting for the interview to be scheduled, especially when there is zero guidance from the embassy when services will restart. Plus, it's been 2 years of COVID, most things are opening back up and things getting back to normal, the fact the embassy still isn't opening up their interview services (that I know of), it's very frustrating. So if anyone knows of any information regarding this, please let me know. Thank you!
  4. My husband became a USC last year and filed the i130 for his mother on 04/01/2021. This was the only thing filed at that time. She is staying with us in Florida. The I130 has been approved as of 03/23/2022, what is our next step? One guide states we should file something with NVC. wait for a letter of account creation, upload all the documents and wait for a bill to pay the filing fee and AOS online. Another says we need to file the i485 to USCIS with the fee of $1225 ($1140 + 85) and all the paperwork. Which is the correct process?
  5. Hello, I am starting a thread to track I-130 for parents filed in May 2020. Please join the conversation and share your journey/process. I filed I-130 (with Consular processing) for both my parents online today, May 4th, 2020. Got IOE receipt numbers immediately.
  6. In a nutshell timing could not have been worse. Just as I became a US Citizen the celebration bells changed to war in my home country.... I am a naturalized citizen and wanted to "eventually" petition for my mom as we were planning to have a baby and have her help. But the war has started in Ukraine and now I'm getting my mom to safety in Europe first and my "eventually" turns into a lot more urgent situation. Just because I am scared that she is alone in a foreign country. I'd naturally try to get her here asap. She has never been to US and has no tourist visa. It would be family reunion I'd request for. Main questions are whether these requests are being expedited in light of the situation. And also in regard to adress, when my husband filed for me as an "alien relative" it was easy because we lived under the same roof. But for me to file for my mom do I list her home address in Ukraine or wherever she lands in Europe? Cause how would she get biometric notice letter etc. I'm trying to start researching now because it is a unique situation and it might help someone else, as I'm sure a lot of Ukrainian Americans like myself find themselves asking these questions. So I suggest to keep this thread for anything related to bringing USC's Ukrainian parents from Europe. That way we can bounce ideas off each other and stay up to date with any updates and suggestions.
  7. My husband is from Russia and recently because a US citizen. We would like to have his mother visit us from Russia as they haven't seen each other for many years. We are wondering what kind of documents she would have to bring along to submit the application for a tourist visa besides the actual form. For example a letter from us inviting her. Any advice on what that letter needs to include? Also if we need proof that we can support her financially while she is here as she doesn't really have money on her own, how can we prove that? If there is anything else you can think of please let me know! Thanks!
  8. Hello, I did apply for my parent's visa IR-5 in July, 2019. Case was transferred to NVC after all the required documents were correct. I did submit all necessary documents to NVC and paid their fees. Cases were delayed because of the pandemic. Both of my parent's cases were document qualified on November, 2020. Now everything is open in Mumbai and still didn't hear anything about the interview. Tried to email and call many times but never got an answer. I found out that I am expecting and my due is February, 2022. I last saw them in 2017. They are old and having very hard time emotionally without me in this pandemic and situation that they cannot come here. I am the only child of theirs. I cannot even go to see them as I am pregnant and having difficulties managing house and job and appointments. Can I request NVC to expedite these cases because of these reasons? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  9. Hello! Everyone! I hope everyone is having a good day I'm 21 this year and I would like to sponsor my dad, or get him a green card. From what I understood (roughly translation, from Hokkien) My dad came to America on a working Visa in the 1990's and overstayed it. He just been here ever since. Met my mother here (also an immigrant at the time, had me/brother but she already got her green card years ago and have tried sponsoring him. It's been years and dad just couldn't get a green card, I don't know why) The Chinese Lawyers are just asking for more money and money. Nothing is being done I heard from one of my friends who's marrying someone overseas and he's applying a Parole in Place for His wife. I looked up Parole in Place and I could use it for my dad? In Order to get Parole in place I have to Apply for I-131 or I-130? I'm getting confused on where to start. Everywhere I see. Everyone is applying for *I-130 *I-485 *I-131 *I-765 But mostly for their spouse. Not their parents. Any help or guidance is appreciated Thank you everyone God bless
  10. Hi VJ'ers, Hope you all are staying safe. Here's a background of our story. Please keep in mind we sent an inquiry every 60 days and got the same AP response from the embassy. 10/17- Applied for father's ir5 2/18- Interview at Islamabad Embassy in Pakistan, result AP followed by DS-5535 which was filled and sent back the following day 4/19- second interview at ISL Embassy with updated medical- updates on ceac made but no visa issuance, still AP 1/21- we requested for his passport back since he was needing it to travel and attend to business, passport received, case still in AP 3/21- Latest CEAC update on case (under AP still) 4/1/21- Today, the case on CEAC updates to EXPIRING SOON We emailed the embassy today that we are awaiting for the AP to end and for the visa approval, not sure why its "expiring" due to their own delays. I know factors like the pandemic and changes in the US Administration are factors which can add to the delay, and Islamabad is notorious for long dreadful APs. Do you guys think its time we do a mandamus?
