  1. My fiancé had his consular interview scheduled for May 11,2020. We never received an email from the embassy saying that it was cancelled, so he decided to show up to his appointment. Sure enough a consular official told him all routine visa appointments had been cancelled and to email the embassy for another appointment. I emailed the embassy and today I tried using my MRV payment receipt to try and schedule an appointment and it says that it is invalid. Has anyone had this issue?? From my understanding the MRV receipt is valid for one year.
  2. Hi, I was wondering if the medical exams that are done for K1 visa have an expiration date? We were scheduled for the end of March before our appointment got canceled, we had done vaccines and medical prior to any closures as well. We have reached out to the embassy and have been given a general answer on they are aware and are looking for a solution, since many are wondering if they will have to pay all of that money again. I follow a lawyer in the Dominican Republic who is working on immigration cases and stated that in a recent visa petition for a US citizen spouse, the medical had expired and they now have to repay to get new ones. I know there's no definitive answer but just wanted to see if anyone knew a little more or if this one scenario was being seen elsewhere. Also would it be possible to get priority on appointment over someone who has not done medical if they are set to expire soon? I called the embassy and their response is we have to wait until the suspension is lifted. Thanks.
  3. Greetings all, I have literally never done anything remotely close to this before. My fiancé has been living in Puerto Plata, DR for 12 + years but he has a Haitian passport. Can someone please tell me if it is better for him to fill out his physical address as where he currently resides in DR, or should he go back to Haiti and take residency there? I’ve googled this question and it led me to this website, but it seems like not many people have answers as far as what to do. I just don’t want to make a mistake on the i29f form thus risking his visa being denied to enter the US. I’ve read the visa timelines, guidelines, & tips and I am so confused. I just don’t want to fill anything out wrong and be the reason he is not eligible to enter my country. Please help any and all advice is appreciated.
  4. Does anyone knows what are the required vaccines for the DR for adults and children? Also, do they accept the lab results that shows that a person has the antigens in the body (in case they have received vaccination and/or have had chickenpox or viral hep previously) I tried calling but they are no help. Said that I should come and have the evaluation and cannot go out to get required vaccines outside the very expensive medical office. I want to make this as inexpensive as can be since 5 of us are going for the medical, and it's a lot of money thanks,
  5. My interview is around the corner. I am a Dominican Republic filler.. What papers my fiancé must bring along with him? And what papers I will need?
  6. Hi All, My husband lives in the Dominican and I am a US Citizen. We just got the NOA2 and are now waiting on processing from the NVC. Does the NVC packet get sent to my husband or to myself? Is it sent via mail or email? I ask because addresses in the DR are very different than here and I am not sure that the mail really works the way it does here in the US. I am sorry if this is a silly question but I want to make sure that he gets it. Thanks! Trisha
  7. Good evening all. I hope someone can help me with these questions because I am a bit confused. I have completed and submitted the DS-160 and scheduled all appointments in the DR. Is there anything else we need to do apart from scheduling both appointments after filling out DS-160? Are there any documents to submit to the embassy or do we just bring those to the interview appointment ? When will the embassy actually contact us for anything ?
  8. I have a couple of quick questions regarding the affidavit of support in preparation for my k-1 visa interview in the dominican republic - I want to confirm that the correct affidavit of support is the I-134, not the I-864 - I want to confirm that the document is brought to the interview and not filed anywhere prior to the interview - I want to confirm the required supporting documentation (w-2s and tax returns (or transcripts) for the last three years; last three months of pay stubs; letter from employer; bank account information) Thanks for your help visa family. Cheers. Rob
