  1. Hi, I will be filing N-400 in mid-July using the 3 year rule of being married to U.S. citizen while being a permanent resident. I still have pending the removal of conditions (I-751) but since it may take a while I will go ahead to start gathering documents and apply. Please feel free to start the discussion of what documents to gather, tips, etc. Thanks!
  2. We currently have a lawyer that helped us get the I130 together and sent in. I'm really trying to figure out if how much he is charging for the I601a is a decent price. Can anyone give me some info on your situation? Anyone doing this part without a lawyer?
  3. Hi, I am a US citizen. I married in Feb 2018, I filed I-130 for my spouse who is in pakistan. I sent all my paperwork in April 2018 and received a letter stating everything has been accepted and will be getting sent to Potomac location. then Oct 26 I got a I-797 again but this time it was much more detailed, it stated that my paperwork is now being transferred to National Visa Center for processing for Visa and now they will contact beneficiary, it also says to allow 30 days before contacting them and it also gave their email. I am just curious to know if anyone has been through something similar and how long approximately did everything take? I am hearing so many mixed things from friends and also a relative of mine who went through something similar and she is now here with her spouse within a year so please any info would be nice lol. also, I was told by someone since i am a US citizen the "Visa Bulletin" doesn't matter for me since i am not a permanent residence(green card holder) but a us citizen
  4. I'm new to this community and lets just say I'm glad the paperwork is finally in. I did all of my paperwork by myself and it took me months just to make sure I had everything in order. I sent my packet in on Aug.16,2018 and got my certified mail receipt back in 4 days. I received my Noa On Aug. 23, 2018. I just hope and pray that the wait times that I see online aren't as bad as they say. Was told by immigration filing a K-3 was not worth the time since processing is actually taking longer than the I- 130. So best of luck Keep me posted on your progress..
  5. Hello, I am US Citizen, my wife has 10 year green card. We travel back to Vietnam for leisure every 2 years, each time we stay for about 2 months. My wife plan to apply for US Citizenship in 2019 or 2020, does she have any hindrance? I've heard stories about people getting delayed due to the long time they stay outside of the US when they travel. Thanks for your answer!
  6. What is the approval timeframe for a US citizen filing for spouse and children under 21?
  7. Hello, I just want to ask if having a US passport is enough proof to be a US Citizen. I filed for K1 visa and the US passport was my only proof of citizenship. I came here in the US when I was 16 years old, my dad was already a US Citizen. I didn't get my US passport right away because I didn't have enough knowledge about it and my dad didn't know about it either that I can get my passport already. Until my friend pushed me to get it and have it processed (since we had the same case and she got hers right away), so I finally got my US passport last year 2017. I just want to make sure that I'll be good with the petition that I've filed and that I don't need to worry about on anything. Thanks in advance!
  8. I would like to adopt my stepdaughter from Nicaragua. The birth mother had her rights terminated by the court in Nicaragua. The child has already gone through the process of getting her 130 approved and is currently in the USA. I am hoping to get information on where to start and what and where to file. I am a US citizen and my husband has a green card. I would like to do this without an attorney if I can. Any direction would be appreciated. Thank you!
  9. Does the presence of the petitioner (US Citizen) at the time of a K1 visa interview has any value ?
  10. Hello, I do not know what category this topic should be. Ive been asked by a friend on what to do with her US Citizen son. Her son was born in the Philippines, and he has expired US Passport when he was 5 years old. The son also just acquired Philippine Passport just recently. He is going to be 18 years old in Sept 2018. He went to consulate in Cebu to enquire about renewing his US Passport. He was told that he must have a dual citizenship prior to renewing his US Passport. The questions are: 1. Can he apply for dual citizenship in Cebu or does he have to be in Manila to apply for dual citizenship? 2. How much does it cost to apply for dual citizenship in Manila Philippines. Thank you so much
  11. Hi everyone!! I want to apply for a citizenship but I have an expired Green Card. I know the requirements and I also don't have criminal records. I have been a Permanent Resident for over 10 years now. I grew up here and I consider it my home. I really want to become a US citizen. Please help thank you, guys!!
  12. Hi. I am of dual citizenship USA and Philippines. I was born in the Philippines but raised in the US. I became a US citizen by naturalization. I plan on getting married to my philippine citizen boyfriend. I have read that one of the requirements to do so is to get the “Capacity to contract marriage” paper. Do I still need to get one even though I am a philippine citizen? Will it affect the process to petition him if I don’t get that paper? Pls help!
  13. Hello everyone! I filled out my I-130 for my spouse who is abroad in July 2017. Many people I know have gotten an answer by the 6th or 7th month. I am almost 8 and nothing. I checked the processing times for the office my case is being process and by Dec 31st,2017 they were reviewing cases from July 2nd. It's already march. Help!! I am U.S citizen. Thanks.
  14. Hello, I did not see a thread for January 2018 filers so I thought I would create one. Priority Date: January 8th 2018 We sent I-130, i-485 package with affidavit (i-864) and i-765. Waiting anxiously and checking the mail every day for a receipt or something. I came with a tourist visa and we have been married since July 2017, based in Maryland. Good luck to us all, God bless
  15. Hello Everyone, In 2005 I submitted a I-130 application for my youngest siblings (brother and sister). At the time I submitted the applications they were single but now they're both married with children. Both applications were approved in 2005 and are now waiting for a Visa to be available. Is the fact that they are now married with children be a problem to get their visas, or will they get a visa along with their spouses and children? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hello, My boyfriend is Canadian and entered the US on a tourist visa with intent to visit me (A US Citizen) for a while. He missed his return flight and decided he would return home later, closer to when his visitor visa expires in March. We have been thinking about options for him to stay in the US. I know the obvious answer is marriage. However, from my initial reading of posts I see that it is frowned upon to marry on a visitor visa. We didn't have this intention originally but now we cannot stand the thought of being separated again. Is there any way we can marry and he can just adjust his status without him leaving? I think the more proper way is to get married, have him return home and then try to file for him to immigrate to the US, but I imagine the wait time and separation are going to be brutal. If he's already here on a visitor visa, does that make the process any easier? Any idea on what forms we need to fill out? I'm going to set up some consultations with some local immigration attorneys but just wanted a general idea before I get there. TLDR: Is it possible for me to marry my Canadian boyfriend while he is here on a visitor visa, and for him to stay and adjust his status without leaving? Thank you!!
  17. Hi everyone. my father is US citizen by US parents (he was 16 when register), I on the other hand was never registered as. When I was 16 he thought it was a good idea to move our family to de US Not Legally. He later merried my mom and tried to make me a resident with some of the immigration visa. We lived in the US for 4 years I went to school there. But It got denied because of lack of evidence because my birth certificate has a late registration (yea..). I was punished for 10 years. He then applied for an appeal I think and never got an answer he said. Now I'm 32 and I have a daughter and she's US citizen by her father. my question is, can my father still do something for me, like going to the consulate and asking for my certificate or passport or something as he should've done when I was little? Is there any opportunity there? P.s. That was almost 15 years ago.. That case died.
  18. We are ready to marry. Should I fly down to Mexico, marry and then apply for k1? She is nervous about going to Juárez. Is there another path?
  19. Hi everyone. my boyfriend and I have been dating for more than 14 years we have a daugter together, but havent get married. Im currently filling everything for K-1 permit my daughter already has her US certificate of citizenship. we didnt buy her the actual passport back when we got the certificate but she is oficially a US citizen. my question is on the I-129f, ask about having kids Im not sure if im doing it right. does she need anything else? I dont have to fill an form 3 for her right? we are filling K-1 form after so many years, Im not sure how this is going to go, hopefully it goes well. our daughter is 6 years old now, but since I dont have a visa or a permit we are still in Mexico. Everything I read or see about K-1 visas are couples from overseas, Im mexican, we see each other every weekend we live border to border, is it a bad decisionn to get k-1 insted of getting ask as spouse? everyone tells me we should firts get married, but we want to do everything in the US I dont mind waiting and not being able to cross back to mexico that way my daughter can get roled on school while we wait. We think it would be better, but right know im having doubts. my father is a US citizen too, but he made very bad decisions, I lived for 5 years in San Diego CA illegally, I was 16 at that time I went to all 3 years of high school, my dad files until i was like 17 or something I turned 18, by 20 we got the interview meeting in Ciudad Juarez (we left the US on our own, never had any trouble with police or migration officers), and later we got the letter denieding my migration. all I can remember it said something about not having a good reASON FOR ME TO GET IT. LIKE IT WAS NO NEED OR SOMETHING. and he just stoped, no money no more of that. I tried to get my tourist visa on my own after that, since I was all ready working and getting stablish againg in Mexico, but it was denied the consul said you cant applied for anything until 2015. and now here I am trying again very scared. but with lots of hope, Im not sure if this is the right method. I hope it goes trough.
  20. Hello Everyone My wife is a US CITIZEN but she has been residing with me in India after we married in December 2015. She has been to and forth to the States a couple of times but she has been residing continuously with me since April. We have finally decided to move to the states but my wife plans to remain with me and we wanted to apply for the spouse visa from India Itself, I have a few questions and points mentioned below: - -> Can we apply for the spouse visa whilst my wife remains with me here in India -> I am a working professional in Delhi and since my wife is not working I will have my aunt who is again a us citizen be the joint sponsor to meet the income requirements -> We are legally married in India, I wanted to know how to proceed with this and is everything in place with our approach -> I was planning to go with RapidVisa.com since they seem to be professional and legit -> Any other suggestions or other means which could possibly help us ease the process -> How long is the duration for such an application We will really appreciate any guidance or help. Thanks Anirban
