Our Story

  1. Hey I just received an email from NVC that there has been a change to my account. When I log in there is nothing that has changed, no new messages or anything. All my documents are accepted except the 2 that I submitted from my rfe in September. I have already given it about 3 days and there is still nothing new. Is this good news or should I be worried? Is there anything I can do?
  2. Hey I just read your post about the French police report. I also have one and only had it sent to me via email. Is this OK? Was your problem not having the original British certificate ? Thanks for your help! And well done 🙂
  3. Hi everyone. Is anyone here from the Philippines and applying for a spouse visa and unvaccinated . How was the process? Did St.Luke’s ask why you are not vaccinated? How was the interview? And how did you apply for a waiver ( religious and moral convictions ? Pls share your experiences. Thank you
  4. Hello helpful Visa journey friends, Iam interested to know what experience you have had upon entry into the USA if you were initially a CR1 visa holder upon issuance but decided to wait to enter the USA past your two year wedding anniversary. Upon entering USA did you need to tell the immigration officer anything about the two year rule? Show your marriage license? Did you need to have this discussion about your new eligibility as a permanent resident vs conditional? Or was it automatically in the system? Did he comply or tell you he can’t help you? interested to know what your experiences were. Thank you!
  5. Hi everyone! After over a month of waiting we have finally heard from the NVC. The email said there had been an update on our case and to log in to the webpage to check. All documents have been accepted but we had 2 messages. 1- Please submit petitioner’s Evidence of Income. For more information, visit https://nvc.state.gov/fin 2- This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. My husband has now submitted pay-statements proving his income exceeds the 125% of HHS poverty guidelines. Having said all this, I have few questions I hope you guys can help us with: - Is the case moving forward to the interview scheduling step? - Does the case need to be reviewed again? If so, do they take long to do so? Or will the documents be reviewed at the interview? - Are we supposed to get an email stating the case state? - Should we be worried? Thank you so much for your help!! Kind Regards, Sarah
  6. Hello! Me and my fiance are about to get married soon. He is an american citizen, however he moved out of US and back to Romania (where we met) 2.5 years ago. My questions are: 1) I understand that he, as my petitioner has to also be my sponsor, but how should he prove that he intents to get back to the US? 2) How should we get around the financial issues? He has a job here but he will most likely give it up and change it if we move. Can we get a joint sponsor? I will also specify that his parents and brother live there, would that be relevant? Thanks so much and sorry to bother you!
  7. Hi all, My husband’s interview for his CR1 visa was on Tuesday the 15th of Nov at the London Embassy. He was temporarily refused due to the fact that we accidentally brought a copy of his Police check instead of the original. They kept his passport and he was issued a 221g. We submitted the original copy to the Courier today (17th of November). Anyone else been through a similar experience with mailing in a simple document like this? If so, what did the timeline look like for you? I understand it looks different for everyone, but would love to hear about others’ experiences. thank you.
  8. Hi, I am a US citizen living with my husband and kids in the UK. Our family is looking to immigrate to the US so I have stated the process to get them immigration visas. So far I have filed an I130 fro my husband. I have done this online at USCIS but since have learnt that our application can be dealt with by our consulate in London. Will this happen automatically when they process the application and see that the whole family is living in UK or do I need to request this? If so how would I go about doing this? Thank you for your help.
  9. I couldn’t find a thread for October 2022 I-130 filers here is my timeline so far Filed: Oct 3, 2022 NOA1: Oct 6, 2022. Guys let's use this post to keep track of our cases. Good luck everyone.
  10. Hey there, my wife and I are working on her CR1 visa to the US. Her mom unfortunately lost her immunization records and there is not an easy way of getting a new set. Will she have to get all the immunizations again or is there a way to get around this? Thank your for the help.
  11. Read a post recently about the importance of detail when filling out the DCF London contact form and am now worried about my submission. (I haven't received a reply yet but it was submitted very recently.) A couple questions... 1. My main worry is that I asked about filing CR1 for my UK spouse through DCF in the contact form and now I worry I should have asked for I-130. The reason I did not say I-130 in the form is because I know this is the first step to filing CR1 anyway. Other than that I was as detailed as possible. Should I be worried about this / could this be a potential slip up that affects me? And if so... 2. If needed, can further detail to your enquiry be added later? There was no email confirmation of submitted enquiry that followed up my enquiry, so I don't know if this is an option. I may just be letting worry get to me too quickly, but if this is something I have slipped up on I'd rather know now!
  12. Hi, I am having a pretty big headache right now for filing I130 for my wife. I have two questions and hope to get some answers online but so far no luck. I am hoping that your value experience can help me. 1, on page 7 of I130, part 4, beneficiary's entry information. My wife did entered US as F-1 before but currently she's in Canada. And for item 47 "passport number", which number should I put? She entered US with her old passport (A) and her old name but right now she has a new passport after changed her name, but this new passport (B) was never used for entering US. Should I put A on item 47 or B? 2, on page 8, item 57.a-f. Since she's from non-roman letter speaking country, I know that I need to put her native spelling for a to c. But currently she's residing in Canada as a worker (not PR), do I just ignore that part or put her home country address on it with native spelling? I know it's confusing but technically speaking, her current "permanent" address is Canada, right? Thank you so much for your help!!!
  13. Hi folks, our I-130 was recently approved and we are now preparing documentation for the NVC stage. My wife is a Canadian citizen who lived in the UAE for studies. She was there from 2010 - 2016, on and off, for a cumulative period over 1 year. She did not however stay there continuously for a 1 year or more period. In other words, she was studying there during the semesters and spending her time off back in Canada. She has been living in Canada since 2017. NVC processing page says to submit the police report if: If you Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more AND Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there THEN submit a police certificate from The country where you used to live. In Short: 1) My wife has not lived in the UAE since 2016 (lives in Canada since then) 2) Did not stay in the UAE for a continuous 1 year or more period I am assuming we need to pull the police report since she lived there cumulatively for over 1 year?
  14. Hello We live in United States. My husband used to live in Greece and we need penal record from Greece to be sent to embassy of us in Albania, that is we’re the interviw will take place. However we are having a difficult time getting the penal record mailed. Please help with any advice.
  15. Hey everyone, Just filed I-130 and I-130a online and we got a notification of receipt on USCIS that I believe is the NOA 1. Now starts the long wait for NOA2. I hope it's not too long but I know that realistically we're looking at a wait for about a year. Fortunately we're lucky and we've been living together (out of the US) since we've been married, so we won't have to do long distance anymore. It looks like our case was sent to Nebraska which I hear is a fast one? I noticed that there isn't a thread for Nov 2022 filers yet so I figured this one could be it. Stressing out Waiting is more fun when it's done with others who are in the same boat
  16. Just like the title says, i am thinking of submitting an application for the diversity lottery program but i am worried Abt it interfering with a potential CR1 visa me and my partner might apply for. My partner is a US citizen and we're planning to apply for the visa next mai . Can I still apply for the dvprogram ? Or would that prevent me from applying for the CR1 spousal visa? I'd really appreciate your help with this.
  17. I have a question. We are in the process of our K1 visa, waiting... But I am waiting here in the US and my fiancé is in his country. Since the distance is so hard to handle we are wondering if its worth it to cancel our K1 visa application, I would find a remote job so that I can still sponsor the visa from out of country, and I would move to his country for a little while, we would get married and apply for the CR1 visa and once it is approved we would come back to the US. So he would still get the visa, but instead of waiting for it apart we would wait together, already married. What do you guys think about this? is it okay to cancel the K1 and start the CR1? would the remote job work for the sponsorship ? What do you think the pros and cons of something like that would be? Our K1 application was received July 31st, 2022.
  18. Hi - I've been reading a lot of posts and really appreciate the content and replies. My SO is in Brazil finishing up her final year of veterinary medical school. After trying the B1/B2 tourist visa 3x (all rejected in 2022). Reason the B1/B2 were rejected each time was bc not showing enough evidence to return even though she had documents from school showing she was going to graduate, job opportunities, and even a letter from my US Congressman. Anyway, we're on to giving either the K-1/CR-1/K-3 a shot (please lord). From this forum and reddit most seem to say the CR-1 seems to be the best bet, however working with a Brazilian attorney in California (very credible), she told me a nightmare story of another Brazilian having the CR-1 (still) in limbo for 2.5 years (and there's nothing the attorney can do to help with this). The attorney is also telling me that the K-1 will be ready in 8-12 months to interview, and once in the states my SO will wait ~6 months to be able to travel/work. She recommended doing the K-1. That being said from this forum and the USCIS the wait times seem to be about the same. I'm understand the differences, but I am confused as to what route to take. Anyone that has recently filed for CR-1? Anyone from Brazil care to comment? Any insight would be helpful. Thank you!
  19. Hi Everyone, We have submitted all docs for the NVC to review (yesterday) and was hoping the interview scheduling would be the quickest part of the process, after reading some post I have doubts… I see that in some cases it takes months to get the interview appointment. We started the process back in Sept 2021. Therefore, this is the priority date of the application. Does anyone know if the priority date has an effect on the process? Thank you for your help!
  20. My fiancé went for his interview on the 11th of October. He received a white 221g slip and on the bottom the CO wrote “sent to USCIS for revocation.” Ceac date was updated on the 13th after his interview and showing Ready still. On US travel docs it’s showing this message “passport is still with embassy” (it’s not with them it’s with my fiancé and I’m not even sure if the website always said that or not). interview: fiancé arrived- woman asked for some documents- she took my 2020 w2 and tax transcripts but not my 2021. She didn’t take my affidavit of support. She didn’t look at our messages or call logs. She didn’t look at our western union or rent receipts. She didn’t look at our itinerary. (This woman was a third party Pakistani National not American citizen) fiancé went to CO window and he only said these things- how did you meet? what does she do for work? how old are you both? (He’s in his 20s I’m in my 30s with a 10 yr age gap) all he said to him was “that’s unusual” about our age gap and then wrote on the white 221g slip “revocation” and said the interview is done with no answer about any evidence we need just that it’s over and slammed the window in our face. Wanted to share this experience in case for others to see or if they had something similar happen and what was the outcome.
  21. Hi all, First time poster — not sure if it is in the right place or not! My husband has his medical tomorrow in London. He has not been to the GP in years (lived out of country for a while), and has never had antibiotics / prescriptions from his GP. He has his vaccination records, but does not have a copy of his patient care summary from his GP (there isn’t much to summarize). He does, however, have a printed copy of his NHS health record. According to the US Embassy’s website, he only needs a referral from the GP if there is an ongoing medical issue.Has anyone found success at their medical without the patient care summary? Thank you, Alexa
  22. Hello, I wanted to ask a question regarding if I would need a police certificate from my country of nationality. My parents are Romanian citizens, so I am as well. I was born in Austria and have lived there my whole life. However, I did have extended visits to Romania when I was a young child, and my parents own a house there. I have no official record of residency there, but I am considering if I should apply for a PC anyways because I have a Romanian passport and my parents own a house there. I am wondering if a CO might assume I lived there at some point. I would appreciate any feedback on this. Thank you!
  23. My job just announced they are letting a huge percentage of our company today. I am a newer hire and I am afraid I am on the list. This is horrible timing 😢. Will this affect the interview? It is in a week and half. Idk what to do and I am so scared because we have worked so hard to get this far.
  24. Long story short, married spontaneously while he was on his trip in the US to see me, now he’s my husband and is here and we planned to adjust status. We spoke to a lawyer to get rid of some doubt who said we had to wait three months after we marry to submit the CR1 + AOS paperwork. I thought it was immediately after receiving the marriage certificate one could send in the forms? Does anyone have any experience with this?
  25. Just wanted to pass along some updates in case this helps anyone. We really agonized over the decision between K-1 and CR1 (I-130). We finally decided it was better to get married and go the CR-1 route. BEST. DECISION. EVER. 219 days from submission on the I-130 to the interview date. I highly recommend the CR1 route! Yes - I have a lawyer (and you need a lawyer, too). Yes - I filed Expedite Requests that were denied. Yes - I filed a 129 (K-3) and got denied on that, too. Just passing along my experience ... good luck to everyone. #1 piece of advice: GET A GOOD LAWYER. It makes a huge difference. Little mistakes (made by YOU) will cause massive delays. A lawyer will make sure everything is right the first time.
