Our Story

  1. Anyone know when June 1st will be available? Everything after 5/28 is greyed out currently. It seems to be about a month out they will let you schedule but if I knew the specific time frame then I could be on top of it when my goal of 6/1 becomes available. We have already scheduled our Medical and I do not want to keep my fiancée in Manila for longer than necessary. Thank you in advance! This forum has been life changing for me going through this process and I am so grateful for all of you.
  2. Hello, I apologize if I've ended up in the wrong sub. I would like to know if anyone here has registered for the SLEC(St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic) online appointment. There was a part where it asked who gives the appointment (if I recall correctly). The options were: Embassy Online NVC I am part of the March 25, 2024 Auto Expedite. Many people say that we schedule our appointments on our own via CGI. So, should I choose 'online' instead of 'Embassy'? Also, who schedules the appointment on the CGI website, the Petitioner, or the Beneficiary? Also about the Letter of Intent since im living abroad with my beneficiary, does it needs to be notarized or not? thanks!
  3. Curious about the typical timeline lately for CEAC status updates after being verbally approved for K-1 interview in Manila. We got the "Approved" status 24 hours after the interview, and now waiting for the final "Issued" status. Anyone with recent experience?
  4. For speed and security sending documents only to the Metro Manila area, DHL, FedEx, or UPS? Please share your experiences!
  5. I am convinced that these forms are made confusing on purpose! Here are the spots that were confusing and/or I got conflicting information about how to fill them out in the I 134 form (I am a U.S. citizen filling out this form for my fiancée K1 beneficiary living in the Philippines). If anyone has had success filling out and submitting this form yourself, please share! Under the sponsor's financial information in part 3, do I list myself as a dependent or not? (I have seen both 1 and 0 listed for people who have no dependents besides themselves -- which is correct?!) Under my fiancée's (the beneficiary) income in part 2, under "relationship to the beneficiary", should I put "beneficiary" for my fiancée? (who I am agreeing to support). This part really makes no sense. It seems I am supposed to list my fiancée as the "beneficiary" of the beneficiary and not "self". The way I understand it is, it should only be "self" if no one else is supporting her... right? Under "anticipated length of stay": I am leaning toward estimating an arrival date and with "no end date" selected. Part 4: I am feeling 90% sure this is all N/A if the sponsor (myself) filled out and signed the I 134 for the Beneficiary to bring to the K1 interview Under "intent to provide specific contributions to the beneficiary" I am marking that "I intend" and then saying that I intend to provide full financial support with no end date -- with specific contributions in part 8, room and board, food, medical etc. Anyone do anything different? I putting N/A in pretty much every single spot that I have no information to fill in -- seems safer than leaving something blank even if its acceptable in some places.
  6. We received our NOA 2 (K-1 Visa, Philippines) about 3 weeks ago and our wondering if and when we will receive a welcome letter from the NVC. Can anyone share their recent experience of how and when the NVC will notify us and give us a case number? Will we receive an email, letter, or both? Should we be notified when the NVC first receives our case or once it has been sent to the embassy?
  7. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has gone through the process of amending tax returns from single to MFJ. I was married in Sep 2022 but my tax preparer had us file as single for 2022 and 2023. For those who have ammended from single to MFJ, what documents did you need from your spouse. More specifically, my spouse is Filipina and it sounds like the employers file taxes on behalf of employees, so she doesn't know how or which documents to get. Has anyone gone through the process of amending with their Filipina spouse and can provide guidance?
  8. Wondering if anyone has gone through the CFO course for a K-1 visa lately and what are your experiences? Mainly interested in the types of documentation they will ask for. I am seeing sites reporting that my fiance may need to provide things like: 1. Affidavit of invitation and support (financial support/safety/medical insurance) written by the sponsoring spouse notarized and authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate which has jurisdiction over the destination or host country, 2. Declaration of undertaking of travel in letter format to include an itinerary of travel and how to ensure safe travel and stay, and 3. Letter explaining why the foreign partner cannot travel to the Philippines. Has anyone ever actually been asked for any of those above listed items. I want to be as prepared as possible, but do I really need to go find a Philippines Consulate to notarize a statement of support??
  9. Hi All, I just want to make sure our appointment date is not a system glitch. K1 Visa appointments at Manila Embassy aren't just only available on Tuesdays right? I found one on Friday, which seemed odd....but I noticed there were other days available like Monday and another Friday appointment on January as well. Her embassy confirmation page clearly says K1 Visa for this date on Friday. I just want to make sure my fiancé wont get turned away at the embassy that day.
  10. My wife and I are taking a (VERY) log overdue honeymoon starting 10/31. Our plans were to go to Thailand and then spend three days in South Korea on the way home. I have a USA passport and my wife has a Philippine passport and USA green card. Unfortunately for me, my wife told me that she didn't need a Visa to Korea. (She claims she did, but whatever). So I decided to check and yes, she does. Here is the issue: The Korean embassy is in Atlanta. Assuming I mail all the documents to them, it takes 14 days to process and then they mail back. (USPS mail). I asked them if I fly to Atlanta does it help? They said they still need 14 days and will mail it back. I'm not even sure I'd have her passport back by the time we leave, and if not, the whole trip is dead. I emailed the Korean embassy in Bangkok, but they told me that I would have to live in Thailand for 2 years before they could help us. Would you all take the chance? If I don't get the Korean embassy, we have an issue coming home. BUT: we at least get the Thailand portion of the trip. If I mail it, I *might* get it back on time? (It's already the 11th!) Wife REALLY wants to go and she's accusing me of sabotaging the Korean portion of the trip. Am I overthinking this? I tend not to trust the USPS or government agencies in general with time-sensitive items. (We only booked this trip two weeks ago ...) Thanks in advance.
  11. Has anyone had any experience with a late registered birth certificate in the K1 visa process for the Philippines. We are waiting for our NOA 2, and have some concerns with my fiancé's birth certificate. It was first registered when she was 15 years old (she is now 27). We have notarized affidavits from her parents and midwife, but are having some trouble with earlier records -- no baptismal certificate and her elementary school was small one in the province and she thinks they may not have kept her records -- but we will of course try. Has anyone been approved with affidavits only? Her birth certificate is PSA, she has a valid passport and all kinds of other IDs. Also, her birth address on the front is slightly different than on the back (same city), and her parents ages are listed as being 1 year older than they actually were when she was born (as if they were rounded up). Does anyone know if this is a big deal? We are looking into getting a corrected BC but sounds like it can be a long process, and we may not have time. Thank you so much for any insight anyone can provide.
  12. hello! i recently got married here in florida to my partner and i was wondering if i am required to register my marriage with the philippine embassy because same sex marriage isn't legally recognized back in the philippines i am just asking before i put in the effort and money in gathering these notarized documents they are requiring for the registration. i am also asking here because googling hasn't really given me any answers so hopefully someone in the same situation or someone who knows the answer might find this. thank you!
  13. Hi, im petitioning my brother for b2 visa. He is 17 yr old and currently in senior high. He is from philippines. May I ask the things he need to bring to the interview.
  14. Hi, Case- I-R1/CR-1 Spousal Visa For those who have experienced or who have knowledge about the CFO/GFP certificate with sticker. Kindly share me your knowledge. Thank you in advance. I'm about to leave the Philippines to USA for the first time in December. Got my visa and stuff. But one thing came up. I don't know how, I just ended up clicking random website from my phone. You know -- was just searching.. "everything I need to do or know before moving to US from the PH for the first" time something like that. Then I saw the CFO/GFP certificate with sticker. If it wasn't because of me searching random things before I leave. I might have booked the ticket to US without knowing I need this certificate. I'm just wondering. If that happens and I'm at the airport already ready to fly. Would they stop me because I don't have that CFO/GFP certificate? Or is there exceptions? Would they still allow me to leave my country or not? Would my ticket be wasted?
  15. Hi, Does anybody here know if you can exit Philippines with expired ACR I card? Anybody here tried leaving the Philippines with expired ACR I card? What happened ? Or what's the deal in the airport if they find out you have expired ACR? Are they gonna let you leave or not?
  16. OK, so we want to retire to the Philippines in about 2 1/2 years. We have filed I-751 and my wife's provisional green card was created June 2021, so I believe she can apply for citizenship 90 days before the same date in June 2024. I'm thinking that we should make her and her child (my stepchild who I plan to adopt) dual-citizens before we retire to the Philippines because we will want to visit the USA whenever we like. If my wife and step-daughter only have green cards, then we will have to return to the USA every year and renew their green cards in 10 years (after they receive their 10-year green cards). Has anyone here dealt with the same situation? My plan is to have her apply for citizenship when eligible which would confer citizenship on the child as well, then apply for dual citizenship at the Philippines consulate in the USA. I also plan to adopt my step-daughter because she would be eligible for Social Security benefits until she reaches 18. I will be applying for Social Security in the next few years. Does anyone here have experience with this kind of situation? Is there anything I am forgetting, or any flaws in my plan? Is it very important for her to become a citizen, or is it possible to deal with the challenges of the green card? (wife is worried about the citizenship test).
  17. Hi All, Our NOA2 was approved on 07/20/2023. We are preparing the documents for the interview checklist for the US Embassy in Manila. I have gone through the checklist on the site and have a question on the requirement to provide Proof of Relationship. I assume this is for proof of ongoing relationship, since proof of having been met within 2 years was already submitted as part of I-129F and approval of I-129F means this requirement is met. For Proof of Ongoing Relationship, will we need to provide similar evidence as what we submitted for the I-129F? Some photos of us together since the I-129F petition (I have visited my fiancé twice since NOA1) and a notarize Affidavit of Intent to Marry? Or will some photos suffice? Thank You
  18. Hello, I am new here. I'm thankful I've found this site as the amount of information here is very helpful. I am a domiciled American citizen living here in the Philippines with my Filipina wife. I am employed by an American company and have been assigned here for work for several years. Due to a staffing shortage, my employer is now urgently requesting for me to return to the United States. After research it seems we may qualify as an exceptional circumstance to directly file here in Manila. Has anyone had any recent experience with filing directly with the US Embassy in Manila, mainly after field offices were closed I believe in 2019? Other notable information to our case is that I hold dual citizenship (reason I am able to stay here) and we are recently married.
  19. I met my boyfriend online two years ago. He is 19, about to be 20. I have just turned 19. After a long fight with my mom, I was able to convince her to to let me see him. (Whether that be him coming to the US or me going to see him.) He is incredibly poor. He does have some assets, such as family, a motorcycle, and house in his name in the Philippines, and I really do just intend to meet him for a little while. My mom strongly prefers he comes here. We scheduled an interview and it will be taking place in July of 2023. We can support him financially and sponsor his trip here (and are willing to fill out the affidavit of support) but all of this seems to be a red flag for the interview. He has no way financially to be able to come to the US on his own. I've also heard that coming to the US to see a significant other is an extreme red flag. I want to hire an immigration lawyer (not for immigration, just for the b2 visa) in order to get a better grasp on this, but at this point, in his situation, it feels pretty hopeless. We've already waited over a year for this interview. Can I get some guidance on what I or he can do, or if this is just a lost cause and he should cancel? Thank you!!
  20. Hi All, I have a question if anyone has had done a K1 visa for someone in the Philippines and were able to use a Birth Certificate from a local Municipality instead of one from the Philippines Statistics Authority? Me and my fiancé had already submitted our I-129F to USCIS back in July 2022. She had provided me 2 types of Birth Certificates. One was from the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) and one was from her local municipality office. The reason she provided 2 versions of her Birth Certificates was because her original PSA was handwritten and it was scanned in blurry and unclear. Her local municipal certificate is a clear version and these 2 birth certificates were used to apply for her Philippines passport. I reviewed the documents with my lawyer and she advised we can submit it with the 2 copies. However, my lawyer told me we would need to request a clearer copy of the PSA Birth Certificate down the road. She believes that may be needed during the consulate interview. I agreed we should try to obtain a clearer copy of the PSA Birth Certificate and had advised my fiancé on obtaining one. The issue is that my fiancé had attempted 2 times working with her local PSA office to obtain a clearer copy. Each time she requested a copy, she requested the copy be clearer. However, each time she comes to pickup the copy, it is not an updated clear copy. She has directed issue to the director of the office there on her 2nd attempt. So we'll wait and see if the third copy is clear. However, the whole situation is a bit frustrating, because she has to pay for each copy of the Birth Certificate even though it was not clear. I am not sure what other recourse we can do to pursue the matter since I am not familiar with the process of the country. Normally, in the US, if we are unsatisfied with the performance of a government office we can report it to our congress person. So I guess it becomes more of a 2 question, do we just try with the 2 Birth Certificates from the PSA and local municipality or do we try to escalate the issue to her congressperson? She tells me her government is corrupt. So she is not too confident anything is going to happen if she reports to her congressperson. Thank You any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    RapidVisa

Our founder, Ben Ives, used the GI bill to earn his computer science degree after his time in the U.S. Air Force. When he decided to marry his wife Jocelyn from the Philippines, he was shocked to discover that there was no online service that simplified the fiance visa process. After filing manually, the couple realized the complex and tedious process had vast room for improvement. So in 2006, Ben set out to write the first software for RapidVisa. After six months of 15 hour workdays, RapidVisa launched, and has been growing ever since. Today, RapidVisa has multiple offices and over 50 employees. RapidVisa has successfully helped well over 35,000 families from 183 countries reunite in the U.S. In 2016 and 2017, RapidVisa made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in America. 22. Hi guys, we've finally gotten our interview date! Some questions: 1. Petitioner has switched jobs - should we update the I864/AOS? 2. I've moved houses - should we update the DS260? 3. My NBI is still valid (expired June 2023) but the address is still my old one. Is that ok? Thank you!
  23. Hi everyone I filed an i130 on 04/21/2022 for my wife in the Philippines. I am the petitioner and am a USC. We are still awaiting approval for the i130 and my wife wants to change her name on her Philippine passport to my last name since the process is easier while she’s still there in the Philippines as opposed to doing it here in the States. I filed the i130 with her current last name (her father’s last name). Her current last name is on the marriage certificate and her birth certificate. What steps do I need to take to make sure there’s no confusion with her name moving forward in the immigration process? We will file for a CR1 visa upon approval of the i130. PLEASE Help!!
  24. Hello, I’m processing my I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. I received a notice on Dec 9th saying I don’t need to go since they can re-use my old biotmetric info. My Case Tracker app confirms this. However, I received another notice soon afted saying I’m scheduled for biometric tomorrow 1/3. Should I still go?
  25. Hello, my wife and I wanted to send a balikbayan box to the Philippines from USA (South Dakota). That being said, my city is small with not a lot of Filipino community. So we don’t have major shipping courier stores that CA or NY have. The UPS store here in my town didn’t know what a balikbayan box was. Planning to send some toys, clothes, used/older electronics, and a couple items from Coach to the family. All for personal use. While we want to fit it all in one large box only, that may be a bit heavy. I am wanting to see what shipping courier options were out there that’s not outrageously expensive.
