Write to President Biden

All - If you’ve been following U.S. politics and President Biden’s executive orders and initiatives then you know he’s expressed a desire to focus on a path for illegals in the U.S. I would like to ask him to also focus on fixing the legal immigration process. I want him to look at the K1 and CR1/IR1 process that so many of us are stuck in. I am a U.S. citizen and have been separated from my U.K. husband for nearly a year. Now we’ve run into yet another delay and I’ve had to hire an immigration attorney. There is a form to contact the White House and share your concerns. I don’t think, President Biden is reading this inbox himself, but I’m thinking about volume here. If enough of us send messages urging him to look at this, maybe someone will put these messages in front of him and say, ‘Sir 100’s (1000’s!) of U.S. citizens, voters, tax payers have been writing and sharing their stories.’ My message will include NVC’s 1 hour hold time, how our DQ got delayed due to NVC “misrouting” our case, about the 2 expedite requests I submitted including a Dr’s note and both requests were denied... and about the emotional stress and hardship that this broken process has caused us. Please take a minute and share your story. There is character limit on the form so if you’re wordy like me, you may have to edit your post for length. Maybe if enough of us write this could get looked at. I’ve included the link below.

Good luck.....but be aware that, even in pre-covid times, a year apart for a spousal visa was not uncommon at all (13 months in our case).  In fact the average time was at least a year.  Even before President Trump came into office, there were (and still are), more than a million I-130s pending processing at any one time.  My point is.....don't expect miracles.  It will take quite some time to ever make immigration a fast process.  Biden can do very, very little short of hiring thousands and thousands of additional processors......and you know who would pay for those additional employees.  As far as expedites go, thousands of people are all trying to justify why their own case should go to the front of the queue ahead of others who have been waiting longer.  Since it costs nothing to request an expedite, everyone applies.......good luck.  This is not going to be an easy fix.

The funny thing is, we also had a large hiccup with one of our I-130s thanks to USCIS, and NVC was actually the easiest to deal with. Whenever I picked up the phone I knew that usually within an hour I'd be able to speak to someone reasonably competent, and they were always very friendly as well. Emails were usually answered within 1-2 weeks with correct information. 

 

Trying to get a T2 agent callback from USCIS, or getting in touch with the consulate abroad, or getting an InfoPass was a nightmare.

I was definitely aware CR1 was a longer process than K1 which was averaging about 6 mo start to finish pre-Covid. I do think there were some screw ups along the way though like our case getting misrouted which further delayed the DQ. If anything does come of writing to Biden, it will likely be long past us getting approved, but maybe it’ll help people in the future. I hope it does change. I feel for everyone separated from loved ones and wish everyone the best.

The sad thing is that Biden will most like put the illegals ahead of thousands and thousands of people that have done the legal filings and spent lots of money to come to the US. It makes me mad that those that sneak across the border would have ANY priority over anyone legal. I’m glad my husband is here already and we don’t have to go through too much more going forward.

This would be to mollify part of his political base.

 

Perhaps some of us here remember the dead stop in processing typical petitions when the DACA program began.  All of USCIS's resources seemed to be dedicated to that.

Pretty vile to see people using the term "illegals" for fellow human beings.

 

Also, these issues need not be in contradiction. Undocumented people in this country can be given a path to a legal status, and also the various other visa and immigration processes can be sped up. It's not zero-sum.

It is not appropriate to call another group  of human being illegal merely because they don’t posses a documented status. This type of rhetorics were used to put Japanese Americans into concentration camps. 
 

I do understand it is frustrating and can be very challenging at times contacting/dealing with USCIS. I do encourage you to contact your local senators or congress members for support. They will be able to help you and get you an answer.

Yes I am also disappointed with the “illegals” rhetoric. We are all frustrated. We all miss our loved ones. We all know this process is expensive, long and hard but I think we should all take a step back and relish in the fact we have the opportunity to do this legally. There are people that would kill just to be given that opportunity. Undocumented immigrants are not our enemy, it does not need to be us vs them. The issue lies within the system, with funding, resources and management, not undocumented immigrants.

Yes!!why does it take year for leagal immigrants to obtain green card. Specially husband and wife should allow immediately to enter u.s after petition is approved by USCIS!!!!
