Laststop reacted to Just Paul in Meeting with an immigration attorney regarding K-1 visa
Ask them why you should retain an attorney rather than filing it yourself.
Ask them if the only do family immigration or do family/ work immigration and handle other cases.
Ask how many K1's they successfully helped each year in the last 3 years.
Ask how long the process takes.
Ask what are the issues to be aware of in your fiance's country that impact a successful k1.
Ask them what the hardest question was on their bar exam

Laststop reacted to Limey in Became a citizen today - Interview with covid precautions
My interview was scheduled for today in Raleigh NC (Durham) and I was given details about precautions for covid19 in advance (wear a mask, don't arrive more than 15 minutes in advance, etc).
Upon arrival and having navigated security I was directed to a numbered room where there was an ipad video link to the interviewer in another room. The entire interview was conducted via the ipad so there was no close contact with other people. There was hand sanitizer in the room. For the parts where I had to write things down the interviewer sent things to the printer in my room and I was asked to write and then hold them up to the camera.
After being approved I was sent to a larger room next door with around 8 other people - we all sat on chairs that were around 10ft apart. After a wait of around 20 minutes the oath ceremony was conducted, and we became citizens.
It was disappointing after such a long visa journey that it had to conclude without a traditional ceremony that friends and family could attend but I have no complaints - I was very impressed at how well USCIS handled things and have adapted to continue operating during the pandemic.
Best of luck to everyone else out there and stay safe!

Laststop reacted to African Zealot in Refused after Administrative Processing MEGATHREAD
Although this is stressful, I recommend you wait for a letter instead of relying on these electronic systems which have their glitches. You risk some serious heartache if you allow your emotions to be controlled by those electronic updates. I know, I've been there and its easier said than done however it is the best way to maintain your sanity in these situations.

Hubby and I have used this site from the very beginning. Take your time and read the documents and ask experienced members for advice. Save the money for a much needed vacation when this process is over😉

Laststop reacted to geowrian in I have been arrested for Dating Violence
If it was known to be irrelevant, I'm not sure why it was said.
It must be disclosed with the I-129F. This includes even if it was sealed, expunged, etc. This is a reporting requirement so the beneficiary is aware...I doubt it would impact the petition or even be a significant factor for the K-1. It is advised that the beneficiary know the details just in case they are asked about it at the interview.

Laststop reacted to aaron2020 in F2A Child Aging Out after interview
Your CSPA age is locked. You will be able to immigrate even if you are over 21.
You've had your interview at age 20, so your PD must be current. Once your PD became current, your CSPA age was locked in as 20. For immigration purposes under this case, you will always be eligible since your age is considered to be 20.
Good luck.

Laststop reacted to kris&me in How many sponsors do we need?
many embassies do not allow a cosponsor for a K1
best thing you can do it get work(especially the USX)and hold off on getting married till you are stable
embassy questions at this point would be
How could USC or beneficary afford to travel to meet?
How will USC afford to buy health care insurance?
How will USC afford the New over $2000 for the AOS after marriage
Is the USC getting federal or state help for housing or medicaid or food stamps?
Frankly, at this point, with no income, you are looking at a denial of a K1

Laststop reacted to SusieQQQ in Health Concern
I think that’s a little unfair. Major surgery is traumatic, and family can give the emotional support a nurse can’t. Said as someone who has both undergone it and been with family members who have. Sometimes you just want someone to sit and hold your hand.

Laststop reacted to Juli. in HELP! Form mistake. Interview soon!
Hi Talo. Don't freak it out! Everything will be ok.
My lawyer made thousands of mistakes in my forms too. I ask her to make me a documents where she explains is her fault.
In my interview I waited to see if the CO would ask me about the mistakes before I present it the paper. He didn't!
My case was approved and I'm here in the US right now.
Be calm and confident!!.
Good luck

Laststop reacted to Fr8dog in NO JOINT BANK ACCOUNT, NO JOINT TAX RETURN
Ok before I'm going to suggest you fire your accountant. make sure about the tax return. (though most likely your accountant needs to go)
there are 3 options.
- filed married, filed jointly
- filed married, filing separately.
- filed single.
If your husband filed single, it is incorrect.

Laststop reacted to carmel34 in Adjustments of Status
If you do the K-1, which takes at least 7-9 months, then file AOS including EAD and AP documents immediately after you get married in the US, you will be sitting idle in the US for about 6 months while waiting for EAD and AP card to arrive, you can't work and you can't leave. If you don't want to do that, get married in Canada or the US, go back to Canada and continue working while your new spouse files the I-130 petition for a CR-1, the spousal visa process takes a year or more, then when you enter the US you can start working in the US as soon as you find a job. You have some decisions to make. Good luck!

Laststop reacted to Juliet57 in Photos!
We sent pictures in a Word document, all pics had a caption saying 'Petitioner & Beneficiary in X City, USA Month-Day-Year' etcc
Our pics were from a period of 4 years so it's funny to see a compilation of all the pics with different haircuts, places, clothing styles, weight fluctation etc
Also contracts that we had for our upcoming wedding reception, and some affidavits written by witnesses of our wedding ceremony etc.

sounds like you need to get those pay stubs to them as quickly as possible. since they kept your passport i imagine they might think it could be a quick fix and you could still get approved in a short time

Laststop reacted to abdo1 in Administration processing and requesting evidence
hi jean it same happened to me in my second interview consular officer asked for another joint sponsor, and chats for 2014 and 2015 , my wife visited me first visit was on october 2014 left back to US on jan 2015 then come back to morocco on march 2015, got married april 2015 since then my wife been living with me in Morocco until june 2019 went back to resume her domicile because embassy requested these evidences, i sent them all evidence for domicile they called me for second interview on august 2019 thats when he requested another joint sponsor and chats for 2014 and 2015, i wrote a letter of expalanation that we do not have for 2014 we lost them and no option to back up also i stated that my wife been living with me in morocco over 4 years in person, we do not use too much chats, i provided photos from 2014 and 2015 to 2019, plus wedding photos, tickets, passports stamps, affidavits from familes, joint banks account, joint resident and mailing box have both names, also i provided her permanent resident card that shows my address in Morocco, last week they called me they asked to upload to CEAC what i sent via aramex, it was no issue with explanation letter, so you should do the same try to explain, because you can not do the impossible and they can not deny because you do not have chat for 2013 i do not think this right.. with best good luck...

Laststop reacted to Sea Leslie in Approved!!!!!!
Hi everyone,
I have GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, my I-130 was just approved and I got the email. I have not even had time to tell anyone else yet (Except here at work), but I think that the I-129F helped. Anyway, how to you think I should surprise my husband with the news?

Laststop reacted to Lil bear in AOS packet question
Not only good but essential
While you will be sending the package all together , remember that each application ... i486 I 131 and I 765.. are 3 separate applications and must each stand alone. You need to attach all the required documentation for each form to that form.. so that means duplicate marriage certificates , passport pics, birth certificates etc. Think about each one separately ..

Laststop reacted to Ethan & Shannon in Rapidvisa experiences - worth it or not?
This is a DIY website so a lot of people will tell you that doing the reading and putting together the application yourself will be worth it because you will save money and will be in control of your application. Personally I preferred to do the reading instead of paying someone, but each to their own. You've already paid them and started the process so there's no turning back. Good luck.
