He will have to amend his 2017 tax return. You can't file as single if you are married.

You have the 2018 tax you can use.

Write an explanation of why you don't have joint accounts.

and attach all other evidence you have to the package also.

Can't show what you don't have. You can try to find "alternate" evidence. Worse case they will call you in for an interview and that gives you a change to explain why you don't have certain things.

If you both filed single while being married, you need to get that figured out with the IRS. If you filed "married filing individual" your good with the IRS but the interviewer may ask why.

Ok before I'm going to suggest you fire your accountant. make sure about the tax return. (though most likely your accountant needs to go)

there are 3 options.

- filed married, filed jointly

- filed married, filing separately.

- filed single.

If your husband filed single, it is incorrect.

What about a lease/house deed and joint utility bills? Drivers licenses to show you are both living at the same address? Insurances (car/renters/health)? Beneficiaries on wills and life insurance?

Where did you find your accountant? Craigslist? Fire them.

If you are married in that tax year, you file one of the married options., you are (rather he is) not SINGLE. It does not matter if one of the spouses does not work. I do not work any longer and we still file married, filing jointly.

To add to this, photos you've taken together and with family? Trips?  Car purchase? Mail addressed to both of you?
