I'm doubtful they would actually do this. The visa is valid for 6 months, constrained by the medical. It's much more likely that you would contract it and become a carrier after the medical.

Unlike the other contagious diseases that are medical inadmissibilities, COVID-19 doesn't sit in your system nearly as long before showing systems (believed to be <= 14 days), and recovery is quicker as well. It's lifespan is not well suited this kind of screening.

Not that I'm necessarily against it...I'm all for more testing to help get control of this situation...but from a practical standpoint it's highly unlikely to be at all useful given the timelines involved.

Stay and file for adjustment of status. You should be able to proof that this was NOT your intend when you came on the tourist visa. Are you able to stay here until you have your greencard and go back to France after?

So for the areas that may soon be affected, like neighboring countries, or asian countries such as Korea or Japan, is there a legal way of say attending a K1 interview in the states as an alternative to the foreign consulate? 

 

I have a feeling Korea and Japan will be added next and with the already difficult circumstances she will be in after March 31st I'd hate to have her trapped there.

 

If there were some legal emergency loophole we could use I guess now would be the time.

Well, even though we have cr1 and travel plan was 1st april from low infected country,  we ended up changing flight to a couple days from now and paying $200 extra, who knows what will happen,  even if planes will be flying🙄

No visa interviews are possible in the US.

The DOS has no posts in the US (since visas are for entering the country and there's no point in one for somebody already in the US).

If you think this is bad consider this, on Feb 10 in addition to the travel ban the US Embassy and Consulate Generals in China cancelled all visa interviews, suspended visa processing, and informed NVC not to send any more visa applications until told to do so.  This will remain in effect until the travel ban there has expired, and unlike this 30 day ban, we have no idea when that will be.

Tough situation, since the virus is now a pandemic and hits elderly populations the hardest, I think  countries with aging populations should take serious measures regardless how it affects our own personal plans and in my case like many of others here, it did with more uncertainty and new risks. 

We have booked our flight at the end of February for March 25th from Turkey with Lufthansa, there is a two and a half hour wait and a connection from Munich, Germany. This will be my first entry, so no green card at hand, just the visa on passport, and I am a Turkish national myself, married to USC. So far no cancellations on Lufthansa’s end.

 

Provided it stays that way, i can’t assess the right course of action. Lufthansa  does not have direct flights from Turkey. i can try to cancel and ask for a refund and try to get a direct flight.

 

Any suggestions? 
A minor correction, flights are not banned, certain foreign nationals who had been in the Schengen zone 14 days prior to their travel to the US will not be granted entry for 30 days. That was my understanding, anyway.

  Seriously, 1000's of people have died and many more will in the days to come. I understand the frustration, but so many people are dealing with so much worse than having travel plans interrupted. I just can't complain about a trip being delayed.

My wife is a Ukrainian. Not part of the ban. She Is planning on coming to visit as we already have tickets for March 19th and her going home the 28th.  Problem is she has a transfer in Poland which is banned. So her being my wife should get her through. Or do we not risk it? Cancel the flight and get a nonstop flight from Ukraine to NEWARK NJ? Please quote me so I can see your answer if anyone has one for mw. Thanks.
