It's just wishful thinking.  Someone who received a K-1 visa has been interviewed twice by the time they receive the 2 year green card, once at the embassy and once at USCIS office, had to provide evidence for both interviews, etc....

A K-1 visa entrant who has had an Adjustment of Status interview has been interviewed ONCE by USCIS....which was one of the original requirements for an I-751 interview waiver.

I did not say they had been interviewed twice by USCIS, they have been interviewed once at the embassy, and once by uscis, which means they have been interviewed twice as part of the immigration process.  The interview by the embassy is in their file and viewable by the immigration officer.

To get a K-1 visa you have to prove your relationship to the applicant, and like I said, it is wishful thinking, nonetheless, something that can be included in the policy, like anything else

This was implemented a week after my interview, ha.
BUT as I'm divorced, I assumed my interview was going to happen either way.

I truly hope this means cases start to move a bit more efficiently.

This is good news. This should result in faster approvals for routine cases and those cases that *do* require an interview, they should be interviewed much faster due to the reduced volume.

As I will be filing I-751 in around 12-13 months, this does give me a good bit of optimism. :)

This is quite interesting, but it still doesn't answer the question as to why the ROC process ground to a crawl back in late 2016.  My wife filed for the ROC in December 2016 when they were still issuing 12 month extension letters, and previous to that I751s were adjudicated well within that 12 month period, but for some reason in late 2016 this changed.  My opinion is that some supervisor looked at it and said the rejection rate was so low on I751s, we can prioritize other forms/processes and let those filing for ROC move to N400 or something like that.  In my wife's case, she had a consulate interview for the K1, an AOS interview, a ROC interview and an N400 interview, but I think the ROC interview was perfunctory (it took less than 5 minutes) as it was a combo I175/N400 interview.

As to having an interview or not, when my wife was at the AOS stage (c. 2015), a lot of people were receiving interview waivers at that time.  For some reason those that had interviews were getting finalized quicker than those with the waiver resulting in a lot of questions on this very board asking how someone could switch from an interview waiver to an in-person waiver, so I am not holding my breath that this change will actually speed anything up with respect to the ROC process.

I see your point, but the press release says:

“This update replaces previous agency guidance that required all CPRs to undergo an interview if they obtained CPR status via consular processing.”

That guidance actually said:

” For cases received on or after December 10, 2018, USCIS has previously interviewed the I-751 principal petitioner“

So previously no waiver for consular or waived I-485 interview cases.

Time will tell.

It’s a major blow for us and we are considering I-407 followed by a new I-485. What an awful past 2-3 weeks in new policy for CPRs

That is an interesting strategy, and it should work.  If you do it, try and get a B2 even if you don't really need it :) .  I know when someone is planning to come here on a CR1, they should be advised to try and arrive after their 2 year anniversary to avoid the ROC quagmire.

Hmm I'd like to know the answer to this same question too....

Wonder if the folks who have already received the Green Card Extension Letter, but NOT had an i751 interview will be included.

ALL I-751 s are included, regardless of any previous interviews or lack of if they score well on the Risk Based Checklist…and can be approved by the Service Centers instead of being sent to local Field Office…but I don’t think Field Offices would cancel an existing interview . There are quite a few I-751 threads/ forums on VJ, u can try researching recent posts
