I've been wanting to write this review for two long years, and It's finally here!
We got our CC on March 15th, but our interview didn't happen until August 28th. Unfortunately, Mexico is taking a long time to assign interviews right now, between 5 and 6 months. And we got stuck in USCIS Nebraska, our NOA2 took 10 and a half months to arrive, so overall the process took a year and seven months total.
I arrived in Ciudad Juarez the 22nd and Had my biometrics appointment on the 23rd, at 7:00 AM. I highly recommend going early since it's not as hot and there are way fewer people! everything moved quickly and it took literally 10 minutes and I was out. You only need your passport, CAS appointment letter, and interview letter.
For the medical, I went there an hour before my appointment and they let me in right away. I chose Medicos de la Frontera and everyone was super nice. I only needed one vaccine since I brought my medical record, I have a lot of tattoos (full sleeve, half sleeve etc) they asked me what they meant and I just explained them. Blood work, urine, and X-ray of the chest, also a short consultation with a doctor, eye, blood pressure, the usual. They told me to get the results back at 3 pm, same day. I've noticed that when there's a problem they don't give you the package but send it directly to the consulate.
I'd say if you have doubts there might be something off, get a medical beforehand to see there's nothing that could be potentially troublesome.
My interview was today, Tuesday. I spent the weekend with my husband going to the mall (I stayed at the extended suites by Consulate right across it, and it was the right choice! I liked it and you have everything close by, walking to the consulate and everything else you might need takes you 5-10 minutes. )
I was supposed to go in at 8:45 AM but decided to go at 7:00 AM and it was also the best choice. They let me in and I spent approximately two hours waiting in different chairs, (I was sent to the green ones, that I've been told means you have all your documents) after providing the papers they asked for.
You'll need: Original birth certificate, marriage, divorce (if it applies) two passport photos and the antecedentes no penales, as well as the last taxes, those are the documents they ask for.
My case was a bit complicated, so it took me literally an hour of standing there and being asked questions. there even was a moment when the boss showed up and they closed the microphone and little document metal sloth to talk so I wouldn't listen and I thought: ohhhhh *****. I thought I was going to faint.
Basically, I overstayed four days when I met my husband, and I was previously petitioned for by my ex, both things that looked super shady on paper, but after I explained what happened he said: ''sorry we just have to be thorough'' and I responded: ''of course! I completely understand. ''
I didn't intend to stay six months but I fell in love and ended up being there that long. No ban or waiver, since my overstay was so short.
After 10 minutes that felt like 10 HOURS of him typing on the computer, he asked me if I was staying in Juarez to wait for the VISA, I started jumping a bit and I was so happy! he smiled/laughed and said: congratulations!
I'm still waiting for the VISA to arrive which will hopefully take 2-3 days, but I'm so happy this moment finally arrived. It was long, expensive, stressful, emotional but so worth it in the end. Everyone in Juarez has been super nice, I haven't felt unsafe (I've only moved around the consulate, haven't venture outside this area) I hope this helped even if a bit. Timeline Comments: 4ok so your dates are almost exactly as mine are. My husband and I got married Feb 2017 and had everything submitted to USCIS within a month from that. My husband entered without inspection so we had to get a waiver approved first before NVC could do anything else. While we were awaiting the Waiver of Inadmissability to get approved the NVC told us that he needed to submit a Police Certificate from Mexico. We finally got the certificate after getting the wrong one inititally and being sent wrong information by the consulate office here in Dallas, anyways. USCIS approved his waiver this past week. Police Certificate from Mexico came in this past week as well. Everything prior to all of this was submitted to the NVC (then they came back and said we need his Carta de No antecedentes Penales). I got it in the mail on friday so Im assuming the attorney’s office will submit it to the NVC on monday. My question is.... how long until we get an appt in Juarez? Its not the normal case bc we dont have to wait for USCIS to approve everything, basically NVC will have everything they need and we will just be waiting for an appointment and thats it.
I wish I could give you a proper estimate! they seem to be taking between 5 and 7 months but since your case is different, I don't know. are you guys still waiting?
Congrats on approval of lifting conditions! Hopefully the next and last thing you’ll do is your citizenship. I’ll apply for my husband in September. Now if he will only start studying seriously! Thank goodness they’ve gone back to the old exam though.
