Yes it serves as a proof but using it improperly just because you can may create issues for future applicants with real urgency. It’s similar to people facing issues getting visas becoz other people have misused them.

Urgency should be applied for real urgent reasons not fake ones.

Until USCIS receives the package and marks it as completed, you haven't filed the AOS either.

That was the point behind missileman attaching that topic thread.

If it was me,  I'd be removing the attorney from my case and filing the application tomorrow since it appears to be ready to go.

What the attorney should be doing is reviewing and sending rather than charging you an additional fee for writing some letter

    Just my opinion

This forum does not condone people breaking the law, regardless of whether or not you think you can get away with it. It’s often more transparent to a trained official than you think though, so you’re probably looking at a lifetime ban from the US and your cousin potentially at jail time. Way to go.

Is there any chance for a waiver?
I've been looking around on the J1 forum and they keep mentioning waivers but nothing is clear cut.

You would need an Employer who would willing to go through the time, expense and hassle, seems somewhat unlikely that anybody would consider this for an Au Pair

You may want to consulate with CPB.  Some seeds may be harmful in other environments. Its always best to inquire.  I wanted to bring some seeds with me to Morocco but was told that it may not be good to bring them in.  Here is something I found interesting, hope it helps

No meat, no fresh fruit. Seafood like fish is fine as long as it's dry. Seed need to be in a seal packet. Also, declare anything is a golden rule.

The OP friend mentioned that someone else filled out their paperwork and apparently instead of correcting an error early in the process, they compounded it in an effort to stay consistent, but who really knows the actual reasons.  It is really a mess, and a lesson especially for those here, having someone else fill out forms be it an attorney, or some visa service, one needs to be exceedingly vigilant and double check everything.

Dunno if it's just me, but your original letter of intent was quite *cold* and generic. Nothing personal about it, nothing that would indicate how she feels about you or your upcoming nuptials. It's as if you guys are simply entering into a business contract or something, not getting married to the great love of your life. Could be that the officer who read that got the same vibes.. 🤷‍♀️ Just my two cents.

It's not peace of mind to put your future in someone else's hands, especially someone who doesn't know you and doesn't care if your case gets delayed or not. They just want the money, they don't care if they happen to miss an important piece of the process. Nobody cares more about your process than you and your future spouse.

I have seen enough stories about rapidvisa on this forum to know NOT to recommend it to anyone, but it's obviously your call.

If she has destroyed such documents who knows what else she can do.
Your friend should also request a new social security number.

He can try to get a new number under the Harrassment and Abuse exemption: https://faq.ssa.gov/en-US/Topic/article/KA-02220 The caveat is that it's at the SSA's discretion to issue a new number or not.
