If their case is straightforward, meaning no criminal history, no visa denials/violations/overstays, they can DIY the process themselves. They just need to invest the time and effort to study the instructions. They can always come to VisaJourney to ask for help.

If their case has any of the complications mentioned above, they may need a lawyer.

The application for K1 just denied.

After you determine why it was denied then come back and let us know.  In most cases a lawyer isn't needed.

Did they tell you why they were denied? The petitioner and beneficiary usually have a good idea why.

Don't know yet. They're waiting for the notice to see why their application is denied.

The applicant usually has a pretty good idea based on what was said during the interview.

Hello everyone.

Is it worth it to hire a lawyer for K1?

How's the experience? I need your advice. Thank you

All here at VJ offer all the help for all to have a success through their visa applications.  As mentioned before, if you have a straight forward case, like nothing that would get your case denied, just a straight forward process, then no need to hire a lawyer.

Can we see the wording about the denial?  Was it denied or was it sent back to USCIS?

Maybe not enough proof of relationship? Usually that gets an RFE though, with a chance to submit more proof.

If it was just straight up denied there must a big reason. And a lawyer can't fix that.

In addition to the answers given, I’ll add know thyself. Some people are simply not good with filling forms, gathering information, dotting their “i’s” and crossing their T’s. If you know you’re such a person, a competent immigration attorney will save you the headache.

It really doesn’t matter that many others have done it themselves if you know yourself you lack those traits. There’s a reason we have lawyers, plumbers, electricians, carpet installers, auto mechanics etc while some people are able to do such tasks themselves.

All the best.

PS: If you make a million dollars a year 😊, it just might not be worth your time in dollar terms to spend hours on the application.
