Did the friend fail to answer an RFE?

He answered the RFE. The notice said that he needs to answer and put his signature and send the original copy to them. Make a copy and keep it. But he send the photocopy instead.

I don't know what going on to him. Wants to rush everything.

It depends on your case if it’s fairly straight forward.

We started with the K1 December 2016, now just recently approved for the 10 year green card! Took almost 5 years, but we did everything ourselves with guidance from Visa Journey.

This site is a god send.

Good luck!

For some with reading comprehension issues, a lawyer can be a great help.

Probably doesn't want to spend the money for another trip.  I can see why he was denied.

We hired a lawyer. Initially were going to do it ourselves but our plan was blown up by this virus. Was going to go back there this past January and work on the paperwork together, but things never re-opened. Haven't seen each other in person in 18 months so wanted to get the ball rolling before the 2 year window of meeting in person closed up. The money I was going to use for the trip I just used to hire a lawyer. While we could probably have done it ourselves, I will admit the organization of the lawyer and detailed instructions on what to give them made the process very easy. Worth the cost? I don't know, but so far I am comfortable with the decision. If there are no RFE's down the line I will consider this a win because if I would have done it myself I can bet I would have forgotten some detail.

So far as you’re keeping on top of the filings and the lawyer, two heads is better than one.

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

I think you hit the nail on the head with this guy!  Some folks lack the attention to detail to do this stuff themselves and this guy, with his forgetting signatures and not following requests, shows he needs support if/when he applies again.

Yes . This guy should have had a lawyer at the beginning for the stupid mistakes he made. OP- USCIS no longer HAS to send a RFE- they have the option of straight out denying. However it seems it was denied because they haven’t met in two years which is a necessity. We all will just speculate though until he has the denial letter. Moving forward a lawyer will only (most likely) be more thorough than this guy. He’s still going to need to see her again if they proceed with the k1. A lawyer can’t speed it up. But if this guy is this bad with forms it may help for him to hire someone.

Agree.  The I-129f is one of the easier forms to complete accurately.   Just wait for the I-485 package....

WOW, a broken system has become even more broken.  INSANE.  We might as well white out the 14th amendment.

If he is visiting his fiance anyway, he might want to get married and fill out the paperwork together

I agree with this, shows much more proof of intent.  Plus to be honest, the fact that YOU are the one asking and NOT him and seems he has been sloppy, means he really he needs to step up his game to the next level.  However, he can't go to the Philippines currently as they are closed.  And he can't marry online as can't consummate the relationship.  I've been wondering about this, as we are now 18 months into global shutdown, will K1 visa soon disappear since no one is able to qualify for the 2 year mark?

Anyways, if he is serious and able to see her face to face I would definitely suggest to marry.

Anyways, the fact that you are on the forum and not him, who is obviously sloppy, is a big red flag in my mind.
