as long as you paid and booked you are fine imo, just remember to bring everything with you to your interview, also no matter what time your interview time is on the day of it you can go earlier, so if your interview is scheduled for 9am and u want to get it over with at 7am you can do that, they don't care what time it says on it and will take you in right away, its on a first come first serve basis

Just logging onto VJ for the first time in a while for my own stuff and remembered this post...
For anyone that was following, the conclusion was that the lawyer made a mistake and in the end the interview took place in the UK.
Thanks all for your input at the time!

Neither, she would sponsor him under F2A once they are married - this is the spouse of a permanent resident category. She obviously needs to actually get her green card first.

As a current licensed marriage officiant in the state of Nevada, I have done most of these listed, in places you could not even imagine in your wildest dreams. One of my favorites was in the " Shower Room" at the Red Rooster ( A swingers club). Yes, Swingers club, not a Sling TV advertisement.

And no SS number is required to get your license, but I do recommend you apply ASAP. We applied for my now wife SS Card 18 hours after landing, and she was in the computer system already, and had her card in 2 weeks exactly.

pretty sure you have to go back to taiwan and file CR-1 visa, entering the US w/ a visitor visa and marrying then staying is considered visa fraud in most cases, some do get approved but it is quite rare and i wouldn't want to risk it.

My wife is one of those people who have tried very very hard to adapt and perfect her English. When we moved to our new house our neighbor was surprised to learn that my wife is from the Philippines because "you don't have a accent at al", which my wife was very happy about.

But it goes without saying that if you move to a country then you should at least learn the basic language of the land in order to converse with different people. I know I have lived in several countries and have picked up the local languages in order to help smooth the transition. So now I know a smattering of Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog, and Cebuano.

purem4g1c reacted to Scottish Mernymph in Husband terminally ill
So on top of having to come to terms with my wonderful husband being terminally ill with cancer, we're in the hospital (have been for the past three/four weeks) the doctors said they can do nothing more than keep him comfortable now, we're trying to make the best of the days we may be lucky to have together....there's the whole question of what will become of me?

I arrived in March on my K-1 & we married within the month & began the filing process thereafter that's as far along as we are...

I read through the FAQS & tried a quick search, please forgive me but I'm not figuring it out from my findings

PLEASE if anyone knows what I should expect, or what I can do (I"ll be calling the attorney in the morning) I would very much appreciate any light as can be shed on my situation.

Why do you think they aren't born Canadian citizens? Where i grew up in Ottawa there were so many races that we're Canadian born citizens. Just from the look of your skin or facial features you won't know if someone is born in Canada or not.

I did my interview on Wednesday May 21, had my visa in hand on Friday May 23rd. So yes you could get it back very fast depending on how far you live from Montreal or wherever you set your "send" place when you filled out your DS-160.

purem4g1c reacted to WOODHIKER in File form 1040?
This response is solely to your question of which country you pay tax to and the answer is on the assumption that for the 2018 tax year you will be considered a resident for tax purposes.  Canada taxes its citizens on income earned in Canada, whereas the US will tax its residents on worldwide income.  So, since you received dividend income in Canada in 2018 you will have to file a return in Canada and pay tax on the dividend income.  Now, again assuming you are a US resident for tax purposes, you will then file a US tax return reporting the dividend income, but you will get a credit, Foreign Tax Credit, for taxes paid to Canada on the dividends such that it will probably result in you paying no US taxes on those same dividends.

In your case you have a number of unique issues.  The first is that the income comes from dividends and not wages and there may be something in the US/Canada tax treaty that treats the taxation of dividends differently than the taxation of wages such that my answer above is moot.  In addition, as owner of a foreign business you may have FBAR reporting requirements including reporting requirements of ownership in a foreign corporation.  I suggest that anyone you find to assist you, whether it's an accountant or tax attorney, they are very knowledgeable with these reporting requirements since the penalties the IRS can impose if the reporting is not done properly can be onerous.

Although this is from the I134, I believe this kind of document would be sufficient to use as proof of assets for a bank account for the I864 as well.
USCIS may go by your lowest balance during the 365 days so that's what I'd report and of course, I'd input it as the US equivalent reported by the treasury using the exchange rate from the date of that balance.

It doesn’t seem likely to me either, but stranger things have happened and nobody knows the totality of their circumstances. For instance, I have seen somebody with a $200k/year stable job been refused. Is that the norm? No way. But something in their past apparently made the CO not accept it (I think they used public benefits in the past).
