I want to get my fiance and myself out of the horrible country we are currently in and apply for her K1 visa after relocating to Mexico. My fiance is not Mexican. I want to know if it's possible for my fiance to go through the whole K1 visa process from Mexico (including interview).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give an informed answer.

On what basis are you moving to Mexico

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You would need some sort of residency permit for Mexico. Generally, you cannot interview in a country unless you have citizenship or residency there.

Thank you for this information. I have checked and it looks like you can get something called temporary residency fairly easily in Mexico. I wonder if this world be adequate.

What's your point?

@Boiler means under what category are you applying for temporary residence as there are several.

Btw, a TPV does not allow you to work. You'd need to go through another process to get a working permit.

Thanks for working through this with me. What looks to be the easiest option would be to put her in school in Mexico. It looks like if a foreigner is a student in Mexico they can get the temporary residence. If you have any other ideas on this I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Why Mexico?  Do you want your process to take as long as possible?   Ciudad Juarez is one of the slowest, if not the slowest, consulate for immigration visas.  They have a huge backlog and it will take 1 year+ after getting the I-129F approved.

If you want to try to get residency in another country, I would suggest some other nation.

This is a very good and valid point. Processing times should definitely be looked into. If you have the ability to pick and chose a country, there are other low cost options ( In terms of places to live) that might be a lot faster. Bali, Indonesia is an easy cheap place to spend 6 months at a time in.

Indonesia doesn’t have an easy path to citizenship, but it does have a very easy “social visa.” This residency visa is renewable for up to 6 months. To extend, you’ll fly to the embassy in Singapore (about $100 for the flight) and return in 3 days with another 6-month visa.
