try to find a job in Mexico.

Doable if you have  temporary Mexico Residence Visa (RT) with work privileges or a to permanent Mexican Resident VIsa (RP) to begin.  If you own property in Mexico, have a long term lease, or are part of ownership of a business there you can obtain a visa.   You can't work on a turista.  Contact the Mexican Consulate if you qualify.   Most won't hire you without a green card and another form of Mexican ID.  Once you have a green card you can get a drivers license at the aduana.

Otherwise you can marry in Mexico and get a green card that way.  That way takes many months.  I had a retired friend that did that and it took 6 months.

I had already been a Mexican green card holder when we decided to move to Mexico.  We got her Permanent Resident Visa in 5 hours in Hong Kong. It took her 6 weeks to get the Mexican green card.

You getting a Mexican green card don't affect immigration other then having to show US domicile at some point.   Unless you get married and have to go to the back of the line.

Pretty sure I know people who have worked in Mexico on a Turista.

If you work remotely, could you work from Mexico and keep the house (which proves domicile)? That's what I did with my husband while we were waiting for the K1 and remote work wasn't even really a thing when I did it a few years ago the way it is now.

But as others said, you are fortunate in that you can see your significant other every 3-4 weeks. I lived 30+ hours away from mine. I know that your situation isn't easy, but it is important to maintain perspective. And with COVID, many people couldn't see their spouses even if they had the money/time.

Toughen up, you got a lot going for you in that Mexico is reachable from the U.S.  Some of us have interviewed, had visa's issued and then withheld for some explainable reason.  In my case we are rapidly approaching two years into this process and the only news from the Embassy in Manila is spend more money on physical exams.  No doubt these are difficult times. I would love to drive to a  Mexican boarder town to see my fiance.  Not being critical of you it's just that there are tons of folks ahead of you in the suffering associated with the process.   Best of Luck.

Juarez is also where my fiance will need to interview once everything gets moving - we're in the same boat with the same concerns. It's hard to stay positive sometimes but one day when y'all are together whether that takes up to a year or more.. you will still be together and hopefully this process will just feel like a moment of time. Wishing you good luck.

As long as the Consulates don't believe that we fall under pp 10052,

Below is a DOS flowchart that was sent to all the IV units and was obtained as part of pending litigation against DOS:

FFfsDXZ_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&

It clearly says "[K visas are not subject to P.P. 10014, P.P. 10052]"

But it also states that resumption of routine K-1 is slated for later phases.

Interesting chart.  At what phase are most consulates right now?  Phase 1.......and some might be going into phase 2?

I imagine most countries that have reopened and have eased a lot of lockdown restrictions will be at phase 2. A few examples of Phase 2 requirements are for Schools/Day Care to be reopened and for Airports to be open to visitors. An example of phase 3 would be something like large public gatherings are allowed again. - See this page for reference

I think an example of a country at Phase 3 would be somewhere like New Zealand.

I am blessed in that regard....I manage to fly down every 3-4 weeks and spend a few days at "home" with her.  Sometimes I need to remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to see her.

Why couldn't you get married during one of these visits?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I had also been visiting about monthly until the lockdown happened.

I've been too nervous to fly so we haven't seen each other in 5 months.

I have an already existing upcoming flight but wasn't sure I should risk it.

Interesting to see you're still flying down there.

But I'll face the same wait with Juarez unfortunately.

Yes...I do feel for you as well.

Literally I've been staring at this "refused" CEAC status for more than 6 months now.

So close yet so far away is how I feel especially because we have no idea how and when.

Thankfully Montreal embassy has updated progress with chart with red, yellow, and green dots.

It literally feels like I'm a widow...I moved into a new place thinking he would be here...

Bought and buys things in sets of two but feels so empty looking at them.

I'm still praying one day that it will magically go from "refused" to "issued".

Good luck to everyone else too!
