Unfortunately, this seems to correlate with what I have been suspecting the whole time. Trump can use COVID-19 as an excuse to keep the embassies closed and pretty much stop all immigration without causing a public outcry or any legal ramifications. Hopefully this is a sign that all of the embassies will start opening again at the end of this month and the interview processes can start. We are waiting for an interview date at the Tokyo embassy.

Consulate and Embassy are affair of Department of State, not the president. Don't Trump this Trump that.

I did not intend this to be a political post. Also, if what I learned in 7th grade history class is still correct, the State Department is apart of the Executive Branch. The President of the United States is the head of the Executive Branch and appoints the Secretary of State who is in charge of carrying out and implementing the President's foreign policy.

If you read the article it states that many embassies are already open and some are already in phase 2 of reopening so no its clearly not tied in to thw executive order. Just because one embassy is opening on that date doesn't mean everyone is following that timeline.

What is interesting to me with that article is that a large amount of consulates are open in phase 1 and not one has started interviews again so it seems like a phase 2 or 3 activity.

My fiancée said the US Consulate in Hermosillo, MX is now open and processing visitor visas. So, that is good news. We are still waiting to be rescheduled. Our original appointment was today 6/11 for medical and 6/15 for interview. I have seen that they canceled through August. As such, I hope that they start rescheduling the ones they canceled in August. Her friend was contacted and rescheduled for early August for their visitor visa. So, we hope that will also hold for K1 interviews in Juaraz.

From another post - Wayne King III - US consulate processing visitor visas in Mexico.

How do you know which embassies are in phase 1, phase 2, etc? I can’t find the website

Has anyone else struggled to use their previously used email address on the ais appointment website? I cannot use mine because I've used it before for a different visa. I also cannot log in and use that account. I had to create another one for my immigrant visa appt. I want to use my own email address but it won't allow me to reset

This is going to be a long thread but it will be super helpful, thanks for starting.

I am in Egypt: US Embassy not open and has not resumed any services. They have not made any announcements yet regarding reopening or assumption of US Citizen Services or Immigration/Visit Visas Services.  They say they will announce on their FB and Website when they will reopen and resume.

A factor in this maybe that Egypt has not reached it's peak yet for COVID and the numbers of infections are still rising (death toll is relatively low thankfully) and all international travel into the country is suspended.

Really we have no idea here because the Embassy has been pretty closed mouth about reasons they are still closed and any estimate of reopening.

I know this isn't about reopening but I thought I would post just in-case anyone has different information regarding the Embassy in Egypt.

Thats what drives me crazy. The government and the states gave estimates on how long they would be in lock down and then when they would reopen the economy in states and the whole country but the State department and Embassies can't give anyone ANY updates on reopenings and estimates on routine visa interviews. Its so frustrating and upsetting.

Yes very. :(
