Hello everyone on VisaJourney, my wife and I are considering using RapidVisa to help us with our CR1 visa, but we aren't sure if we really need to. We can't get help without paying on RapidVisa as probably everyone on here knows. Can anyone please help us with some information on the following questions?

-How much evidence has everyone included for their visa application? We're thinking of maybe like 10 photos, letters, boarding passes, and pictures of our text conversations. Should we get any affidavits from third parties? Is this enough? We don't have anything else or joint accounts, etc.

-My wife previously lived in Canada for over a year but didn't work while there. Does she still need a police clearance letter from Canada?

-My wife is losing her job and is intending on coming to the US for about a month in between finding a new job. If we file our I130 and get a receipt, will she be able to travel to the US or will she likely be denied entry? If we hold off on starting the visa, would she be allowed to travel? We aren't financially well off, and $1000-1300 wasted on a plane ticket would be horrible.

-It seems like US immigration laws, particularly the public charge law and potentially the entire visa system are about to be changed. I've read that some people's applications would have to be resubmitted, I'm not sure if that pertains to family visas. I'm not sure if anyone would know this, but if we apply now do we face the potential outcome of having to apply again? It seems it's better to start now before things change, but I'm not really sure.

Thanks for any and all help! We really appreciate it

If your case is not complicated and you can understand what you read, you probably don't need Rapid Visa.......Basically, all they do is fill out forms based on the information you send them........the guides on Visa Journey are pretty good.......

Whether your wife can visit will always be determined by the CBP officer at the time of entry.  She should always be prepared to show ties to her country......but, legally, she can visit during the process.

As far as evidence, documents such as your marriage certificate along with proof of time together (including documents normally generated during a bona fide marriage) are good.

rapid visa has (according to many posts on here)  messed up a lot of the process by not sending in the correct proofs people provided among other things

you can do this with little issues just learn to be patient as the process is not fast and you hear nothing month after month

Agreed with the posts above. It doesn't make the process faster and sometimes makes it longer and/or more complicated. Read the instructions, view the guides, and ask questions instead. Save the money for a trip together or a nice gift.

As for the evidence, this is what I included with our I-130 petition :

- Marriage certificate (of course)

- Bank statement of our joint account

- PDF files with 10 pages and 9 pictures per page, since we met, showing all the trips, family, friends...

We didn't include the affidavits since we've been reading on this forum that they often don't make a difference.

We didn't include boarding passes or copy of chats either since we lived in the same country for 2 years, and then traveled the world together for another 2 years. So we thought the pictures would be enough, and they were. I think if you don't have financial evidence like a joint account, it's good to put as much evidences as you can, so that's when the boarding passes, copy of chats etc are useful in my opinion.

Before this process, I didn't know jack diddly squat about immigration. However, there is plenty of info on VJ and the internet in general about how to navigate through this process and with these resources I managed to successfully file the I-130, have it approved, get through the NVC stage and get my husband's interview, in which he was just approved for his visa last week (entire process took exactly 364 days from start to finish).

As others have said if you have a simple case with no criminal legal matters involved, you can do it yourself. Save the money. This process is already expensive enough without paying unnecessary fees for lawyers or visa services who can't speed up the process in anyway.

Good luck on your visa journey!

Visa Journey. My husband and I had many so called "red flags" and we did the petition on our own with no help of VJ. I did a lot of research and made sure to check and quadruple check the petition. After my husband's petition was received at the NVC and was stuck there for no apparent reason, I found VJ. After that when I needed advice I always came here to ask for advice when needed, everyone always answered my questions with total accuracy. My husband has been a citizen and never at any point in our journey from filing the petition, up to and including naturalization, he never even received a RFE. Save your money and stress and use VJ, you won't regret it. There are many senior and knowledgeable members on this site who will never steer you wrong. Good luck!

Like other people said, read all the instructions from USCIS on the petition process and documents first, it's pretty exhaustive. If anything is unclear or you are not sure about, search on VJ first in case someone asked before and if not just post your question.

For our story, look at my profile.

While I filed for a K1, I did it all with help from the good folks here.  To be honest, if you take your time and thoroughly read through the guides and/or use the search on here, you probably won't have many questions.  There will be others that had/have the same questions as you.  Just do a search on your question, chances are you will find several threads related to the question you have.

We did use a service in Thailand for assistance as my wife doesn't have a PC or laptop.  We paid around $100 to have them fill out the paperwork for my then fiance and submit it for us.  The woman there that my wife was working with commented that everything I sent to them from here was well prepared.  I set up a Google drive for file sharing, and etc.

Yes, if she was 16 years or older at the time she lived in Canada.

From outside Canada

To submit fingerprints to the RCMP's Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) from outside of Canada, you must first contact the local police of jurisdiction where you are staying outside Canada and who can provide you with a copy of your fingerprints. Ensure you get the name and address of the police agency as well as the signature and name of the official taking the fingerprints. Also ensure all ten fingers are taken with black ink.

Next, you must contact an accredited company within Canada who can convert the paper fingerprint forms taken outside of Canada and submit them to CCRTIS electronically.

Not needed now but at the NVC stage: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-5-collect-supporting-documents.html

Do it yourself. I was going to use them too but I'm cheap and its cheaper to do it yourself. Get familiar with the forms. I printed out a copy and wrote it in so I could make corrections before I typed and printed. Its not hard at all. It just seems a little intimidating. I sent loads of pics. Please send more than 10.  I printed out the first middle and last pages of our text for each month which was at the time was 6 months worth. I printed pics of screenshots if us on video calls I printed out call logs. All this is 6 months worth of info at the time I was filing. I sent copies of my tickets. my stamp ins and outs from my passport. We dont have a joint bank yet but I sent in financials of what I send showing family support. I sent 2 affidavits from my daughter and a friend. I sent in marriage license and divorced decree. Wedding invitation. With a cover letter stating all the evidence I submitted. After all that it was a pretty tall stack. I mailed it with the cheapest fastest mail delivery by the second day after mailing I recieved my text and email that they have received my petition. And now ive been waiting 11 months for a noa2. You can do this leave nothing unsigned reading over the application many many times before u send it.

Wish I would have found visa journey before filing. But I followed USCIS instructions by reading the forms and the instructions with  it.It took 2 month of many hrs. filling out the form just like a test. Fill out everything you know for sure, save and  print, yellow highlight everything not filled out, go back read instruction, and fill out some more information.Do this over several time, and eventually you will get the form completed. Once one process was completed and finished, I immediately started the next step on our visa journey, filling out forms and checking them over and over again, and also updating information. We had no problems whatsoever, i also did the papers for my stepson with no problems. After each step was finished I made a folder with paper copy, and told both of them the keep them safe for the rest of their Life. if anyone needs any information about dates, or anything else, they will always have a way to look it up, even if it is not immigration related.
