@pontof I'm definitely going through the exact same. We are Brooklyn filers with NOA1 date of April 15 and no signs of biometrics anytime soon. L2 said the same, no appointment has been scheduled yet. I honestly don't know why the office is so ridiculously slow! Its depressing:(

I’m so frustrated! Did the office set a service request for your case?

That’s awesome news! Did you have to fax over evidence or was it just approved after a couple weeks?

We faxed a job offer from the sheetmetal workers union hall that I'll be tranfering to plus my Canadian bank balance and information on my spousal support obligations back in Canada but it was less than two weeks after faxing the information to uscis and a congenital reps office

Yes did that back on May 16, recieved email around the end of May saying that they couldn't solve the issue so they have forwarded it to NBC. I spoke to L2 on May 28 after someone with the exact same timeline had asked for L2 and found out that her appointment had indeed been scheduled for first week of June. But unfortunately for me no appointment. I want to get a job in the Brooklyn office and do all the processing myself :(

That's a good timeline! I'm hoping mine would be that soon too. Just faxed my docs yesterday and today the senator's office raised an inquiry for me.

I had my husband call yesterday morning to request an expedite since he has a job offer and I'm the only one earning an income right now. They gave him a reference number and said somebody would be in contact within 5 business days but there's been no change of our case status as of yet. Fingers crossed we hear something soon.

I-765 Employment Authorization cases have been closed with a status of "benefit has been received by other means

Firstly, Congratulations. You all must be so happy 😁 🥂

Secondly, did you request a SSN with the I-765? If so, now the case is closed do you automatically receive one?

Thank you. 🙂

I asked this very question at the end of the interview, as we also checked the box on the I-765 for automatic issue of SSN. Short answer was "No", when the case is closed because the AOS was approved before the I-765 was processed. I was told that once we had the green cards, to give it another week or so and then go to the local Social Security office to apply for SSN. Reason to wait a week or so is for the systems to update so SSA can look up their status online and confirm what the green card says in order to issue the SSN.

In retrospect, I should have just taken the wife down to SSA to get an SSN before filing for AOS. In fact, I did. But it was a bit too early; about 10 days after arrival and SSA said they didn't show some kind of info about her yet online. Since they won't issue SSN's to K-2's (children of the K-1) in any case until after the AOS or I-765 (EAD) has been approved, we decided to just wait. But it was a hassle trying to get other stuff done like getting the wife on my bank account, health insurance, etc. without having an SSN. So my advice to any K-1's out there is to get the SSN before you file the I-485 for AOS. If you're changing your name because of the marriage, I'd wait to get the SSN until after the marriage so it's in your married name from the outset. Then you don't have to waste time changing it shortly after you just got it.

As for automatic issue of the SSN's by checking the box on the I-765 form, I'll also mention that just since early April when I filed and updated my timeline here, the estimates for when the I-765 would be processed have pushed out an additional two months. It originally said late July - early August; now it says September - early October.

Thanks so much for solving that puzzle for me.

I was also in the same predicament with obtaining a SSN. My I-94 was not updated at POE at all and it took exactly 4 weeks to get it resolved!

Appreciate the valuable advice.

Thank you and once again Congratulations smile 😊

My case status showing case is ready to be scheduled for an interview what does mean by this ??? Anyone ?? I have not received any mail from them. Status changes two days ago

It means exactly what it says (usually your I-485 status changes to this a little after your biometrics appointment if it's updating at all).

You're now waiting on your local field office for an interview date; everything they can do before your interview for your I-485 is presumably done (though I think people have received RFEs after this point, so that's not a guarantee).

It does not mean that your interview will necessarily be scheduled soon; some people have had their case be 'ready to be scheduled for an interview' for over a year.

I wouldn't be too worried; getting reliable updates from either web site or any case tracker app isn't something you can count on.

I had already received an RFE with my NOA1 letter (ask me to do medical again since my medical was expired) hopefully they will schedule my interview soon thanks
