Comments : We got very lucky to get approved just two months after filing the I-485! The Tampa USCIS office is on top of things. Had a 7 am appointment time (which is when the office opens). About 50 people were outside the office at that time. After going through security and checking in, we sat in the big waiting area until our case was called, probably about 20 minutes. Don't recall what time we were called, but I'd estimate we were with the interviewer about 20-25 minutes for everything; we were in the parking lot heading back to the car by 8:15 am. As we were adjusting both a K-1 and K-2 visa, it was probably a little longer than usual. Interviewer was very courteous and professional.

I have a USCIS account. It has not shown any updates after accepting the I-485. The "Case Status" does show regular updates however.

Received the I-797 in the mail stating the AOS had been approved about 5 days after interview; green cards arrived exactly one week after interview.

Had combined I-751 and N400 interview, so I was allowed (and required) to attend the interview to clear the I-751. Got to observe the N400 portion as a result. I was surprised about being called back, and had no notice regarding the I-751 portion and what to bring for it. Still, we did fine and cleared the I-751 portion.

POE Review: Newark
Event Description
Entry Date : 2019-02-26
Embassy Review : Arrived quite early (around 05:30 am) on the flight from Singapore. There just seemed to be one other flight that was processing at the time we were. We ended up being some of the last people to reach the initial Immigration booth. I mentioned I had K1 & K2 visa holders with me and handed over the sealed envelopes. After processing me and doing their fingerprints, they sent us off to a side room where some different people got into the contents of the envelopes. It just took about 5-10 minutes, they stamped the visas and pointed out to us the date we needed to be married by (90 days out), and that was it. No questioning, separation, or anything. Just had a passport stamp with the date written in, that was it; no I-94 form (as those seem to be electronic now.) You can Google "I-94" to find a website that shows current I-94 status however to make sure everything is in order.

We hopped on the AirTrain over to Terminal C and stored our big bags, then caught the train into Manhattan with our carry-ons and grabbed a hotel for some much-needed sleep during the day, followed by a Broadway show that night. Then flew down to Tampa the next day.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
