Genie or secret spy cams?

25 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

My fiance used to smoke weed recreation ally 5 years ago. Ever since then he quit and has remained clean. In the medical exam, he was advised  to admit he used to smoke weed when asked even though that will get him a 1 year ban. I told him why don;t you just say no? You're super clean anyway. But people kept telling us don't ever ever lie  even if they'll never know. Even if you'll get a 1 year ban.

So my question is, how does the embassy spy on us to know if we are lying about that or not about smoking weed 5 years ago at a dingy house party. Do they have a genie, or install secret spy cams while we are asleep?

I have a feeling it's the secret spaghetti monster. But I don't know. Please guys help us please let us know help help help. :-/

It's always the FSM.

How they can find out doesn't matter since you need to be honest on the forms and when questioned. It's against the TOS for anybody to advise you to answer otherwise. Suggesting he say no when the truth is yes is a very dangerous suggestion.

If you lie and they find out they can pull any benefits you received. As in they can take away your green card, citizenship or any other visa you have.

You also posted the question on this forum and I'm sure immigration has people who check this forum and keep track of things. They are very good about finding out things that you'd think they would never find out. Sometimes they interview family, friends, and other acquaintances and find things.

Be honest to avoid any problems down the road.

Indeed. All they need to do is check timelines for NOA1 dates and the country flag, names, etc and they will soon find out who it is.

There was once a post here that said that the site admins had run some stats and a huge percentage of the hits on this forum on any given day come from IP addresses that belong to USCIS and other government departments.

What you wouldn't put on a billboard on the freeway you shouldn't put on a public forum.

why would an embassy spy on you?

they don't know a case is coming to them until they get it or in cases of CR1 they know when NVC tells them

and then they can do certain things like in one case they ask to see the man's cell phone and saw he was talking to several women visa shopping

And here I always thought that being honest is just a simple human decency and everyone should practice it.

But nope. Apparently it's just a fear of being spied on...

The same way spouses can tell when they are being cheated on.  Intuition, body language, shifty eyes, the way the person answers questions, previous actions, evidence and stories falling apart, finding other things out that lead to more questions, etc.

Always better to tell the truth.  It will always come out eventually anyhow.  Rather it should come out from your fiance now than have it bite him later on down the road and then everything he's ever said/filed for/done immigration-wise is brought into question....and it can come back to bite him hard, believe that if nothing else.

Yup Tell the truth.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
