Not all interview officers hold authority  to approve on spot, so it's pretty common what happened to you. Within a day people received a notification their card was in production. Congrats!

Congratulations!      Did you just ask your bank for a letter confirming that you have a joint account? Or were bank statements with both of your names on, enough?

So you filed marriage-based AOS and now about to renew EAD?
My lawyer prepared EAD renewal for me.
For current immigration status or category, he wrote : Pending Adjustment of Status

    "No status"

Although you currently don't have a status the pending I-485 means you are in a period of stay authorized by the Secretary of Homeland Security.
Leave them blank. Those questions are for Asylum-based applicants: https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/information-for-employers-and-employees/employer-information/employment-authorization

They will send you the letter in the mail. Most of times, interview are scheduled 4 to 6 weeks in advance.

The forum has tons of cases you can search to get ready. The letter will also say what to take to the interview.

Arrived in september last year.  Sent the aos packet in october.
If the open enrollment is later this year, do i have to either wait until then, or get added to my wifes future job insurance?

Or obviously get my own when i get my employment auth

markandoliv reacted to USS_Voyager in Tax confusion- how should we file taxes?
As far as immigration is concerned, if you are married, you must file tax as married. Married jointly or married separately depends on how each couple prefers and how it would give an advantage (more refund money, .... ). Consult an accountant. For example, my wife and I file jointly at the federal and separately at the state level because our accountant said that would give us the most refund.

If you have a SSN or ITIN (can be applied for during filing), you would probably benefit by filing jointly.  You would have to report your UK income, but it could probably be excluded (Form 2555).  If you and your spouse are not knowledgeable in how to file taxes, I suggest consulting a competent tax professional for the first year.....there are sometimes several factors which determine which is the lowest tax liability.

markandoliv reacted to Cryssiekins in Whilst awaiting interview for AOS am i legally able to be on a lease with my US spouse?
    Legally?  Yes.

Some leasing companies may not though.  My husband and I had a hard time finding a place willing to rent to us while I was not yet a resident, so we winded up finding a private landlord for a year, and then moved to a nicer place, with a professional management company, but I was listed as an occupant on both.

Some places will allow it and others won’t. The place I have been renting for years would not let my wife be on the lease, but they know she lives with me. Now my renters insurance company had no problem adding her to the policy. So she’s on the policy but not the apartment.

We ran into this situation ourselves, as our apartment complex requires the people on the lease to have legal status in the US. I agree with the other responses that you will find different rules from different leasing companies. You will find it very difficult to prove your legal status to a private company while you're at this stage in your AOS. I would strongly encourage you to explore your options and find a place that will allow both of you to be on the lease contract. Call or visit different places to find out what their policy is. That lease contract is going to be a strong piece of evidence at your interview (and for ROC)...but only of you're both on it.

The GC and the Combo Card are two seperate cards.
I765 and I131 come on the same card.
They use the same biometrics for both.
No one will have a biometrics for I131 if you filed all concurrently. If you filed seperately, you may.

Your check will be cashed and the notification will be sent to you electronically all within same week and you should get your NOA1 few days later.Having your mind set on the maximum period of time specified by USCIS is the only way to stay sane, welcome the waiting game :).

I sent my package on September 16 and supposedly they received it on September 19 and I still haven’t got any answer. I sent an email to lockbox last Monday and the replied saying it could take up to 30 days to reply. So that’s where we’re at. I’m not losing my hair and not sleeping well out of stress or anything.

She was a student for 2016 to 2018, worked part time some of 2017 and 2018.  Thats why the income was so low. Shes a student now with a very low income, thats why we are using a joint sponsor.

There are no fees for advance parole (I-131) or employment authorization (I-765) when applying along with a pending application for a green card (I-485).

markandoliv reacted to K1visaHopeful in Aos checklist, am i missing anything?
Treat each form submission as separate packets as they will not go to the same adjudicator at the NBC. At least 3 coverletters (or 4 or 5 in your case as the I864s are being submitted/ are written from the perspective of the sponsor(s) not the immigrant) is my recommendation. If your I485 is submitted with a combined coverletter it will stay attached to the I485 and the I765 and I131 (and possibly I864s too) will be left bare with no instruction as to contents for the adjudicator that ends up with those applications.

You can even get married, send AOS as soon as you get the marriage certificate and then apply for the SSN -again, as long as there is enough time left on your I-94-.

If at the time of sending AOS you do not have a card in hand -whether you applied or not- you check NO on both questions. They won't get confused.
