Thank goodness y'all are safe! You will need the green card for naturalization, however, I would add it on the insurance claim for reimbursement. It's about $500 to replace.

I was added to health insurance the day after we married. We walked into a DEERS office and added me.

If you know the new tenant, I would definitely go and pick it up if it goes to your old address. USPS does not forward green cards so it would go back and getting it resent is apparently a pain.

It’s not furlough. I talked to a friend at USCIS and they said the email is coming out tomorrow about the furlough. They have to give the employees 30 days notice so it won’t start until August. I’ll check back with them tomorrow about the email.

You can get a photo taken from a photo shop or professional photographer. You can even do it yourself as long as it meets the requirements. I had my son's Canadian passport photo taken at a photo shop (I brought in the paper that had the specifications but they said they do it all the time and knew what to do). I mailed a friend the guarantor paperwork, they filled it out and mailed it back to me.
Keep in mind that if you are changing your name, it won't be a renewal. It will be a new application.

I think it's an amazing idea. Changing times call for changing ways we do things. Ceremonies are exactly what it is : ceremonial.
No need holding up people's citizenships just because of a ceremony.

The article interestingly didn't mention all the new citizens being able to vote. I wonder why they left that out since immigrants are generally believed to vote Democratic and its being led by the Democrats. Hmmm...
I, however, am all for virtual ceremonies. In fact, I am for no ceremonies at all as I feel they are a waste of money. Yes, I skipped my high school grad, my college grad and I was married by a Justice of the Peace in his living room.I remember the time I spent in school instead of the couple hour formal ceremony of graduation. I do not regret saving my money on grad dresses, etc.
There really is no reason we "need" the ceremony. It is a formality.
I am one of those who's ceremony was cancelled 2 days before it was scheduled to be held. I want to vote. USCIS has already deemed me qualified to become a citizen so why do I need to proclaim it to the world in a formal ceremony? You could answer "no" to the oath questions and still get your citizenship.

A few people in the Pittsburg, VA area are getting emails today. Here is the emails. Looks like they are preparing for their hopefully June 4th opening and getting their ducks in a row. So people been watchful of your email inbox.

    Dear Naturalization Applicant:

The USCIS Pittsburgh Field Office is preparing for the day when we resume naturalization oath ceremonies. That date has not been set. But USCIS staff members are contacting applicants and legal representatives to identify naturalization candidates who are able to attend oath ceremonies as quickly as possible. The oath ceremony dates will be set with relatively short notice: within a few days, in some cases. Applicants will be chosen according to their willingness to maintain contact with USCIS Pittsburgh via email.

Please note that these applicants are those who have already been deemed ready to attend an oath ceremony.

Please also note that USCIS staff and visitors will be required to adhere to all appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols.

A date for oath ceremonies has not yet been set. But we are preparing to continue our service to the public. We respectfully ask that everyone understand that COVID-19 requires that we all remain flexible. Communication will be essential to the success of this ad hoc process. We will contact you when a date is set for resuming ceremonies.

Again, please note that during this process, USCIS staff and the public must take all precautions to maintain social distancing and proper, anti-viral hygiene.

If you can attend an oath ceremony at USCIS’ Pittsburgh Office on short notice, please respond to this email at your earliest convenience.

Mine is scheduled for next Friday, May 20 in New Orleans. I'm hoping that since it is in the field office and not a public meeting place , it won't be cancelled but that's looking like wishful thinking at this point!

Update: My spouse ended up talking his employer into letting him have the morning off but had to go back in the afternoon, which was all we wanted in the first place. I don't know what changed his mind, maybe some conscience kicked in, but thank goodness because it was a combined ROC/N400 interview! I was approved and am just waiting on my oath ceremony.
