Hello Everyone,

Since I am nearing the end of my degree, I just learned from my university that I can invite guests to my commencement ceremony (to anyone out side of the country ) next year with an embassy letter from the university. I am thinking of doing that to invite my husband and/or my in-laws to attend the ceremony if his and their visa is approved for visiting and after some time they can go back. I am not sure entirely about this since we may have ONLINE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY in 2021 due to COVID-19 … however, if I plan to do this, will this bring in any other issue/hurdle with the spouse visa case (CR1-IR1) for my husband that he has already visited USA or something like that...? any ideas/suggestions/tips/advice on this?

thanks

There is no issue in visiting the US during the process if he/they have tourist visas.  It will not affect the spousal visa process.  However, obtaining a tourist visa is not easy or likely.

Nope, not an issue, I would wait and see, an expensive process to go through if it ends up on line.

Sorry but what do you mean by " I would wait and see, an expensive process to go through if it ends up on line." can you elaborate?

the latest news (today) about the vaccine is late December they expect health care workers and "those at risk "  to have shots but the rest of us (since there will not immediately be enough vaccine) will not be able to get it till May or June.   so you are more than likely looking at online commencement.   Until we have a successful vaccine and are not at risk in the USA,   nothing will be normal

He meant you needed to make sure it would be a real ceremony, otherwise you would lose money for tourist interviews, air tickets then it is online ceremony.

you are right, however I just recieved information right now that we can request letter by May 2021. So, I was just wondering if it would create any issue with the spouse visa case if I go through this commencement ceremony process by March or April next year (after accessing the latest situation)... thank you for the input.

The likelihood of your husband and/or in laws getting visitor visas from Pakistan are slim, especially with a pending CR-1 so don't get your hopes up.

Just keeping it real.

I know was just researching if I could apply and IF they do get their visas, “would it make any issue with CR1 visa already in progress”.. if not, I won’t even apply for this visitor visa...

Letters from your university will not aid them in getting visitor visas. The documentation that the embassy wants to see is reasons for them to return to Pakistan, not why they want to visit the US

Petitioner should be any and all supporting documents that support their case.

Whether or not CO looks at it is another story or even ask for anything

It seems as if the the CO has the answer of approval or non approval before the actual interview
