ok thats all i wanted to know. I was considering having a child and wondered what would be the repercussions of having it in america since my petition is in process.

So the child is hypothetical too? You do not have a child yet, but you are considering having one?

It is getting very confusing or is that just my misunderstanding?

thank you. I noticed two tables in the link. one that has jan 2012 and 1 for aug 2012. whats the difference?

The first table is for final actions, so essentially those with priority dates before Jan 2012 should be getting interviews and decisions, the second table is for starting to assemble the DS260 and sending the package to NVC

Maybe we are all misunderstanding. Her initial post says she has a kid that is already a US citizen. Is the father a US citizen or did she have her child here? The initial post didnt sound hypothetical to me.

I think the child is hypothetical.  I suspect the question is around whether to have the child born in the US so that it would be a US citizen from the get-go but what the implications would be on her existing petition if she was unable to pay the costs of the birth / used Medicaid.

I think the child is hypothetical to see if that will speed up the process. She said she is “thinking of having a child”. Seems like an odd reason to embark upon parenthood but what do I know?

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

My parent is currently petitioning for me, an adult child. What year is currently being processed now and also what are the implications if I have a child who is already a US citizen. how will this affect my petition? or anything in relation to american laws or regulations

Are you currently in the US? On what kind of visa? Are you currently pregnant and if so have you received medical care in the US? What state was it in and who exactly (agency name) covered the medical bills so far if any? Not trying to be nosy its just specifics matter. Your questions so far were pretty vague and you will not get accurate info unless you provide the details.... If you decide to not respond the best I can say is to repeat others that having a USC child will not help you in the process of your parent applying for you. It CAN hurt you if you took benefits to cover the pregnancy or birth in the US. Birth costs vary but estimates are usually 10k in medical costs.

You will have to have cash to deliver in the United states depending on the hospital the costs can be between 10,000 - 25,000 USD. If u don't have those funds it is best do a home birth with a Doula. Any medical bills u incur, USCIS will ask for proof of payment by you and not Medicaid. If you cannot prove you paid the bill, no visa will be issued.

If you are pregnant at the time of interview , they will take that in to figuring out what the chances of you being a public charge is.  It isn't just about having someone that makes enough to file the I864 for you    If they think you will come here and can't pay for the baby's and your medical cost you will be denied.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

One of the strangest threads I have seen in my 7 years on this site. :pop:

Would not make my top 10. But these things are subjective.
