Sure the govt could most likely access your email if they so desired, but if they did you would likely have far greater issues unrelated to immigration to be concerned about.

If there’s something in your emails you are scared about them finding, maybe reconsider things.

 The government has the right to monitor any communications between the US and a non US point.  Usually monitoring is looking for pattern that may indicate someone is up to no good.  They can however read full emails, capture telephone conversations.  Can and do are very different.  It would not normally happen but I know of a case long ago where a K1 couple was shown a email from one of there accounts of a wedding picture ( yes they were trying to use a K1 when married and yes they were denied )

Actually, I think you may be underestimating. Remember the Patriot Act? It was "the first of many changes to surveillance laws which made it easier for the government to spy on ordinary Americans by expanding the authority to monitor phone and email communications, collect bank and credit reporting records, and track the activity of innocent Americans on the Internet?"

They are only interested in issues of national security.

I very much doubt that USCIS officers had a file of my emails sent to them by the NSA.

I agree with you! I was just replying to another poster's comment in which they wrote that some of us are overestimating the competency of our government. That's what I disagree with. When it comes to data collection, our government seems to be pretty competent in that they have the ability to do it, and have done it.

I work for the Federal Government and I agree...)))))...also they overestimate the interest in a K1 petition.....
