The interview date was 2/8/21, 
EAD AP date was 7/15/2020
 
The experience was, we arrived at 300 N Los Angeles at 230pm for a 245pm appt.   Went thru ground floor xray, go to 8th floor, go to the check in window, take temperature and wait to be called.     Was called finally at 350pm after a 1 hr sit and do nothing.
 
Nice younger gentleman greeted us at DOOR 2, walked about 20m to his cubicle office.  He was nice enough to apologise for the wait due to more difficult cases.
Asked for marriage cert, Passports and whether we have anything else for him.
Handed 1040, House grant deed, HOA, Bk Statement, photos, Insurance docs and affidavit from colleague.
 
Asked him whether he needs any more medical updates, he said if you have any .. please.   Handed over Additional Vaccination record from USCIS doctor in sealed envelope. this is the I-693 part 5-7 and 10 for vaccinations part only.  We did this in abundance of caution in case USCIS needed it.
 
He appeared to be in a rush, checking off what we handed him, then quickly asked like 20 Are you terrorist, member of ... traffic human etc... Mostly NO answer type of questions.
 
THEN he said.. that was easy... I cant approve you right now, as I have to do background check and verify the K1 file is consistent with the 485 file.
 
Again rushing.. he said well probably you will hear something today....  and thank you for coming...
 
wham bam.. in and out in like 15mins.
 
By the evening at around dinner time, we received the approved email from USCIS..... now awaiting physical card.
 
what a K1 to 485 journey.

I received the interview letter.. ours is 2/8/21.  In the letter, it says bring the latest W2, 2 mths pay stub, and employment letter verifying employment.
Marriage cert, evidence of relationship etc.
Any prior divorces
Any prior criminal stuff
Also 693 if havent done so via DS 3025
 
bring more.. so you need no delays... 

We applied 485 in Feb 18 2020... we got the AP and EAD on Jul 17 2020...
Finally we got the email that an interview is scheduled today 12/23/20...
 
havent received anything... await the letter....

From reading ... 3 cases usually
 
a) wrong form used.  After 2/24/20 need new form with I-944
b) missing I-864 financial affidavit
c) you didnt respond or receive the RFE

we too... K1 11/19, POE 12/19, Married 12/19, submitted 2/20, today 4/9/20 received case ready for scheduling interview....
 
PLEASE PLEASE.. COVID19 makes many cases waived interview.... its a difficult time for everyone.. even federal employees...

You can always pay any expected tax first to stop interest payment and then file for a tax deferred return until Oct 2020

I feel for you but need look for a job asap as you need to prove financial support.    Amazon is hiring so are walgreens and grocery stores.   
My wife now is from China, we had K1 interview in 11/2019, she left China in 12/27/19 just before it hit and we were among the last few .. then same thing when we did the AOS , 2.24 was cut off for new form etc.

Appt was 3/17/20 but we went to appt center at Gardena and walked in on 3/13/20 no problems.
ASC at LA and La Brea not helpful and want to go by the book on appt time.
3/15/20 received sms that I485 and I765 have fingerprints attached to the MSC file.
 
Now awaiting USCIS response.
Possible mad rush before the 2/24/20 cut off for new form

We did a walk in like 5 days prior to our appt.  We went to 3 ASC that morning at 8am, 830am and finally 930am we walked through.
 
Different ASC have different guards who make a judgement call (some are just nasty others are so nice)
 
We went to Gardena in LA near LAX.  Failed at DTLA and La Brea ASC

Congratulations... so the VM was unnecessary... good that you went... I am very happy for you.

All you need is to get the I-797 proving you applied for I-485 to be in status.   Before you received that paper and after your I-94 expired, you are pretty much OUT OF STATUS and any cop even at a traffic light can detain you if they see you are OOS.   That is on top of any other inconvenience needing a marriage cert like health insurance or SSN or beneficiary reporting for insurance etc.

You were on a F-1, didnt go to school, OUT OF STATUS for a year I think.   You are not in a normal I-485 adjustment situation.   May want an attorney if you can afford it.
