I (US citizen) posted earlier about our AOS packet being rejected due to a couple mistakes (outdated 765 form, checked a wrong box on the 485). Before sending the first time, I made a complete copy of the entire packet. So I have that as well as the forms and evidence pages that were returned to me.

I’m wondering should we resubmit any of the copies that were sent back to us? Or should we use brand new copies of everything? Obviously I’ll submit the corrected versions of the forms, but I’m talking about the additional information (financial info, passport and birth certificate scans, etc).

I also had cover letters for each form, which my husband (the beneficiary) signed. Do I need to have him re-sign those with a new date as well?

you can submit the same copy  that was returned back to you. usually they will have some numbers printed on each page of the document you submitted the first time. just fill out the new version of the forms, remove the old version of the forms that are incorrect  and send everything back the same way it was sent the first time

In essence remove the incorrect forms and add the new forms and send everything back including the add on evidence that was submitted the first time

Did you submit I-944 in the first filing attempt?

No, we didn’t need to then, But we have to this time

So I can submit a mix of new forms and the old evidence they returned to me? I didn’t know if I was supposed to submit anything that had the numbers printed at the bottom..

you are over complicating the simple thing. Just print+complete new version of the forms and submit them along with the old package that was sent back.

This process by nature is extremely complex, and it's important to my family's wellbeing that we get it done right this time.  They give little to no instructions on what needs correcting; you essentially have to find your own mistakes and hope you're right. They only say to resubmit your packet; they never say if you need a whole new one or if you can use parts of the one that was sent back. In my experience, they absolutely will split hairs and become petty about minor details, so of course I'm going to double check. Not paying attention to details is what got us into this situation in the first place, so I can't afford to not overthink this.

I'm going to try asking this again in a clearer way. We have to resubmit our AOS packet - some of it was correct, like the I864, but others needed corrections (the I485 had an error, the I765 was outdated, and we now have to include the I944).

Do I resubmit brand new copies of everything? Or do I submit a mix of the corrected forms plus whatever was sent back to us that was correct (i.e. the 864, extra evidence/copies of passports etc - which have a bunch of numbers printed on the bottom by USCIS)?

Could you please confirm that you got a rejection of the AOS packet and not a RFE?  If you got a full rejection (AOS packet was sent back and rejected), it would be better if you submit everything new without their notations.  They are so disorganized that chances are the officer that noted this packet will not see the re-submission.  Just to play it safe.

Yes it was an actual rejection. the whole thing was sent back due to the errors mentioned above.

That's why I'm wondering if we need to submit any of the stuff from the first packet that got rejected, or all new evidence photocopies, passport size photos, etc. They sent back my check as well with a DHS stamp on it.

What @James120383said was simple. However, since you're having a hard time graping it, I recommend a clear option 2.

You intially had them filled out on Adobe and not hand-written, right? If so, go on Adobe, correct the errors. Re-download the updated form that is needed and fill it. Print EVERY form a FRESH and resubmit.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

You just fix the errors and use updated forms then resubmit. You don't need all new evidence just the errors corrected and the updated forms.

I’ve gotten mixed suggestions, so that’s what’s confusing me. I’ve seen others ask the same question, and also get different answers. It’s really frustrating 😕 but it seems like I just redo the new forms and submit them with the old evidence, plus whatever else they want. I understood his response, I just didn’t feel that telling me I was overthinking it was useful or relevant.

Thanks!

Both @James120383 and @Cyberfx1024 are saying the same thing.

You have 2 options:

1. The one by the above 2 individuals or

2. The one suggested by me. Ideally, mine would involve reprinting the some forms which have no errors. However, I suggested it if you're one of those people who just wanna print afresh.

Choose what is easier for you...
