Our I-130 was approved at Texas on Feb 25th. After much perusing the forums I’ve noted a lot of people have received their case file numbers.

Two quick queries

1. Do both petitioner and applicant receive the same email?

2. Considering NVC are processing cases way after the approval date, when is it considered appropriate to email or call them for guidance?

I’m hoping we’ve not fallen down a crack somewhere 😢

Hi There,

My approval notice was 15 Oct and my case was sent to NVC on 22 Oct.

25 Nov NVC Case Creation email - sent to both petitioner and applicant.

So mine took about 6 weeks.

Hope this helps!

Hey, just checked the link for you: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

You should probably call them! they are creating cases for 11 Mar as of this week and yours is 25 Feb!

And you may be lucky for an expedite since it is an error on their part that it is overlooked -- ask for it when you get them on the phone!

Good luck!!

Copy and past of NVC processing time below:

Current case creation time frame: As of 30-MAR-2020, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 11-MAR-2020.

Once USCIS approves your I-797, they will send your case to the National Visa Center (NVC) for processing. At NVC, we will create your visa case and enter the data from your petition into the system.

After creating your case, we will send you instructions for processing, as well as a Welcome Letter that includes your Case Number and Invoice ID. You will use these numbers to log into our Consular Electronic Application Center (https://ceac.state.gov).

IMPORTANT: Keep your Welcome Letter in a safe place, as you will need this information to log into CEAC throughout the entire visa process.

Take this time to review the types of required civil documents and how to find them, plus information about what forms and information your petitioner needs to prove he or she can financially support you.

If you don't receive any emails, you can call NVC and they will provide it to you over the phone.

Hi Rosie!

DQ means Documents Qualified. You may also hear “CC”, which is case complete.

Once your documents are qualified, you are then in the queue for your interview! (wait times for interview depends on your country - but obviously it’s on hold right now)

Currently, it’s taking around 9 weeks for DQ from the time everything is uploaded.
