@RobbieL today I called my local ssa office and they just said since it’s been so long they probably didn’t put me in the system, that immigration doesn’t always do that and I will have to wait for offices to open so I can check of my card got lost somehow or apply in person for one if I need to

Yes. We're definitely planning to head to the ssa office once everything opens back up again. Hopefully that will be soon, but likely not until May.

Best of luck to you and also everyone else who is still in the process of waiting for their interview / visa!

Our interview originally scheduled for April 1 was cancelled on March 17 due to the coronavirus with no estimation of when it will be rescheduled. I am not expecting things to calm down enough this month for a May interview but maybe in May it will be calmed enough to get something for June..

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

Hoping your interview will be rescheduled soon! I just read on the Covid-19 forum that someone was able to reschedule their interview for Manila Philippines through ustraveldocs.com

Me too but most importantly I hope the virus slows down soon! I saw that as well, however even if we did manage to reschedule, the medical office in Copenhagen is not taking visa medical appointments until further notice, and since we don't know when things will go back to normal, I don't want to really schedule something that will most likely be cancelled again (since all the consulates are closed for the foreseeable future with no "end date" for the closures in place). My husband also has to travel to another country (from Denmark to Sweden) for his interview and I'd rather not have him fly and travel to a big city like Stockholm with all the rising cases in Sweden right now..It is sad and I wish that none of this had to happen, but I think it's better safe than sorry since at this rate I think interviews for May might even be cancelled. I want my husband here ASAP but I think our best choice right now is to wait for this to all blow over and wait for the consulate to contact us. When the consulates reopen again, I think we can consider it (at least somewhat) "safe" to travel again and hopefully be sure that the interview will not be cancelled

For sure. We were scheduled for an interview in May 11th by the NVC this week. My wife will attend the interview in May (If the consulate opens for interview at that time). If we get to have an interview, approved, and get our visa, we will also wait until things get better to travel.

I hope the best for you and your husband!

Hello everyone! Whats the next step after being approved for expedite? It shows that my visa is currently at Manila.

i believe the embassy contacts you once things open up. Can't do a medical or interview so now you just wait on them.

Wouldn't hurt to email them and ask what are the next steps.

Hello Everyone,

My husband (USc) and I got DQed on April 6th.

The same day, part of the list of my civil documents on CEAC webside became kind of a mess:

- 3 documents (passport biographic page, photos, police certificate) that had been accepted are now under the status "missing" 😲

- and 2 others have a tittle that doesn't match the document anymore (not sure if I'm clear) 🥶 Super weird.

Our lawyer (for those who have followed me, you know I am not a big fan of him) told us that as long as we got the email saying that we are DQ, we are fine and he doesn't want to hear about what the website is saying.

Also, on the website, the message from CEAC is clearly saying "DQ".

Has anyone ever experienced that problem?

Thank you,

Alix

Anyone who got an interview date and subsequently got cancelled: whenever this virus issue subsides, how are interviews re-scheduled again.

My brother logged into his ceac and the case status shows:  "At Mumbai", so obviously file has left NVC and is with consulate now.

will the embassy/consulate reschedule the interviews automatically or do we have to email them first.

I have been waiting for 2 weeks for my social security number so I decided to call the office today. They couldnt find me on their system and ask me to complete a SS5 form and send along my passport. Does anyone had to post their passport to their local SSA office?

Hi Everyone,

A probably silly question that you may have given a thousand times, but I find on the forum different type of answers and so I am not sure.

I am getting all the document prepared for the interview (no date so far).

The Department of State is quite categoric: for MIV applicants, bring the exact original of all documents you uploeade into CEAC.

But my husband is in the US, I am in France. Does it mean that he has to send me by postmail (fedex or else) the original ink signed I-864 and his original divorce decree - taking the risk with covid19 - to have those documents lost?

(for his passport and proof of domicile (driver's licence) I guess a copy is fine, right?)

For those who are in the same case (UScitizen in the US and you in your own country), what are you planning to do?

Thank you very much for your help. I'm super confused about this.

We are in a pandemic and the governmental offices and the embassies are running with a skeleton and in some cases are completely closed. Nothing is going to happen until this virus dissipates.  There will be action announced closer to the opening of the embassies on how they will address those who had interviews scheduled and those who want to schedule an interview. Also, if you have a NOA2 about to expire there is no reason to panic or be concerned. That too will be addressed by the embassies once they are closer to opening. We are in a wait and see mode till the embassies start opening again. BTW, this is my opinion and that is the embassies will begin to open with those that are in a less affected area then move on to those in highly affected areas. I believe that the embassies will reschedule those that were cancelled and then open the schedule for those who are ready to receive an interview date. Best place to be tuned in to what will happen at the embassy level is to be on their webpage because that is where the announcement and further instructions will be posted.
