  1. I sent documents from US to Vietnam twice using Fedex. It was to a rural area in Vietnam and was always delivered in around a week. I guess Fedex should be reliable if you want to ship to the US. It is very expensive though, but worth it if your document is important.
  2. If you are worried then you should probably email and ask them. They will be able to give you the right advice, they're doing the interview.
  3. https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/required-documents/ It states that original and copy of petitioner birth certificate is required. I sent my wife a certified copy.
  4. I'm going update here in case anyone reading this post in the future. My wife got her interview earlier this week and throughout the whole interview process, my (petitioner) certified copy birth certificate was not look at all, even when they check the documents before the actual interview. But since the requirement is there on the consulate web page, I would bring at least a certified copy to be sure.
  5. Thank you for updating the spreadsheet! We got our original appointment date notice on April 2nd, the appointment was cancelled due to coronavirus. We rescheduled our second appointment on June 18th.
  6. Thank you! Around 2 weeks ago they updated their page in the Important Notices section: https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/ and emailed my wife that the interview appointments are ready for us to reschedule. For our consulate, we did the interview rescheduling ourselves. My wife didn't get anything from the I-130 package back after her interview.
  7. Hi guys, today my wife got her interview at the HCMC consulate in Vietnam as well. The interview was also quick and went well for us. I'm so happy! I wish you all luck and hopefully embassies/consulates around the world will open soon for you guys as well!
  8. Vietnam will reopen for CR1/2 IR1/2 interviews next Monday 6/29, my wife has her appointment for CR1 interview rescheduled on 6/30.
  9. The consulate in Vietnam will reopen for CR1, CR2, IR1, and IR2 interviews starting June 29th. Source: https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/
  10. I agree. This is what I'm also doing when preparing our DS-5540 for the interview.
  11. Unfortunately our interview was cancelled because of the virus.
  12. Hi guys, We're filling out form DS 5540 and not sure what to answer for question 12 on part 5 My family and I never requested or received any public benefit, should I choose Yes or No? Looks like this question is not applicable to me at all, should I skip it?
  13. I think the requirement is specific to the embassy/consulate. For example, the Ho Chi Minh consulate in Vietnam wants my (the petitioner) original birth certificate, but they specified that photocopy of I-864 is OK, and I only have to submit this photocopy of I-864 if I did not already submit to NVC. I did mailed my wife the birth certificate and I-864 form with wet signature anyway. Just in case.
  14. I'm also hoping the date will hold. I will keep you all posted!
