Work or student visa to polyamorous trio

My wife and I are USA residents from Oklahoma who are in a polyamorous (NOT bigamist or polygamist which are illegal) relationship with a woman from Canada. She wants to become a liscensed paramedic in the States and try to start work in this field so she can live with us while being able to have independent income to support herself, help with bills, etc. Currently she has a passport and sometimes visits for a few weeks before going back. We have spoke to local colleges that offer the needed courses and we know how to get her state license. The problem we have is that a rep from the North Dakota immigration office told me that she is highly likely to not be able to get a job as an EMT because it's not a job in demand. I asked what about a paramedic (the college told me that companies that hire for EMT will often train in house for paramedic if they sign a 3 yr contract with them)? He stated that she is still likely to not find a job due to high costs of work visa sponsorship on the employer's part. We just want to get our partner here to live with us and help her find her own income so she can live with us and do it legally. He advised for her to get a RN (registered nurse) degree and file for TN status but she does not want to invest that kind of time and resources for a degree she will not care to use. Also, my wife and I do not wish to get a divorce. After searching for hours I found a reddit forum post suggesting to come here for answers. Please help. I'm quite stressed over this. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

A student visa is for people who don't have immigrant intent. Your girlfriend has, so that's a no no. If they find out down the line she had immigrant intent when she was granted one, she can get in a lot of trouble.

In general employees are only allowed to hire someone from outside the US if they can't find anyone qualifying for the job within the US. The fields you describe will likely don't need anyone from outside the US, since so many people in the US can do these jobs. The only thing she can do is try to get an employer that will sponsor here in that field. Also, make sure its a profession cited under the NAFTA treaty if you go for the TN visa.

Whatever visa she wants, she needs to qualify for it on her own. I understand you want her in the US, but that's not a factor in her qualifications.

A student visa is for somebody who intends to study.

A TN visa is for certain NAFTA work opportunities.

Other work visas are possible, but again depend on her line of work and finding a company to petition her. Generally these require at least a 4 year degree in the field and ensuring that there are not US-based individuals available and capable to due the job.

The first step is figuring out what she wants to do. Wanting to be in the US is not a reason to be issued a visa. Pick a profession based on what you want to do for a living, not just based on where you want to live.

In general, Canadian immigration process is more strict than USA. Unknown what is OP's or his wife's profession and/or education level.

Odd you say that, many people from my home country go to Canada because it’s much easier to get into than the US. As you say, a lot depends on education level etc. Really the question is, this woman is prepared to move countries to be with the OP couple, but would the couple be willing to move to be with her? In neither case of course can the relationship between them be of any relevance to the immigration process.

Way too much info...  who she is to you is irrelevant.

If she wants to move to the US, no matter the visa, she's on her own. You're not her family so you cant help her in any way. From the sound of it she wont have many chances to move.

You could do what they did on Sister Wives.   Divorce your legal wife and marry this woman.   Then, petition her for a spouse visa.

And then divorce her once she gets a green card and marry the 1st wife again?

I hope this post is a sarcasm because this is green card scam... and probs would be discovered when it would come to RoC or naturalization.

I didn’t say anything about divorcing the new wife or a GC scam.

They could all be together then, which sounds like the goal.

Which would be marrying the 2nd woman for immigration benefits only.
