Interview requested WHHYY??

Hi all, any interview experience here, what to look for, how to attend, smile or be serious??  And why do they ask for the same documents that we sent to them already, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Bring any documents you have between filing and present, and any you have pre-dating filing that you didn't send originally.

That is what they are looking for, and will ask you for.

So there is absolutely no need to bring documents we have already submitted, because on the letter it says to bring as much of what they ask for to the interview, so confusing!!!!!

Also bring the originals of anything you sent photocopied with the application, in case IO asks to see the originals.

I sucks but it is what it is. Like we say... don’t question why, just do. If you start questioning “WHY” you loose focus of the ultimate goal....to get your love here. 

 

We say it all the time, give them what they ask for. If they ask for your 5th grade science report....send it. Doesn’t matter why they need it as long as it will get you one step closer to your love.

Be relaxed, yourself. Not overly friendly it serious think business casual attitude. Dress modestly. Jeans add button down or polo for man, jeans and top with sleeves for women with flats etc. Will be the a little while. Just be confident and relaxed.

From what I've read, even in cases in which zero fraud is suspected, they still call something like 5-10% randomly for an interview.  So no need to stress.

This is true. All cases are designated with A, B, C (from no fraud suspicious, moderate, to highly suspicious).  Each level has increasing % of cases that must be interviewed overall.  A (no fraud) is 5-10%, while C (highly suspicious) is 100%.

 

The said percentage also goes by the local office of the applicants.  They can choose to do 5% or 10%, for example for A and B level, depending on what they believe they can handle. All major cities (New York, LA, Houston, Dallas)  are to call more interview because of the number of cases under their jurisdiction.  Same % more sample.

Not sure if it is true or not, but I also read that you will be interviewed somewhere. So if you are like me and got the conditional card without an interview, they are going to want to talk with you.

They have their reasons for asking for things they way they ask them and doing things the way the do things. If they say bring something just take it. It's good to go overly prepared under 'just' prepared or 'under'prepared. The process sometimes sucks but it is what it is. Just do as they say to avoid more headaches and delays.

Even if it wasn't being requested... it would be highly beneficial to take copies of everything with you anyway. The things you've already sent in before have passed hands since then. Things get misfiled. Lost. Jumbled up. These are humans handling our cases. You never know when they may say "we don't see that we have XYZ", even though you recall sending it, and it makes your - and the officer's - life easier to say "oh, here is a copy!" and hand it over on the spot.

 

When we went for our AOS interview, we had additional paperwork to support his medical requirements because he had to get one last vaccination stateside and have a 693 filled out by a civil surgeon. We kept waiting for her to ask for it... waiting... waiting.... she never brought it up. So when she got to the end and asked if we had any other proofs for her, we brought it up. She looked through his file again and said they had never flagged his file indicating the medical had not yet been fulfilled, which could have potentially messed  things up down the road for all we know. It's always good to be more prepared than the bare minimum.

Completely random unless you have a dubious case.

 

Last interview my wife had was at the consulate. Next will be naturalization.
