I am sorry, not trying to play games here, but to get answers.

Im went to the US Embassy in Jerusalem.

So why putting me under AP if he already decided?

The US Embassy is in Tel Aviv.  It's not in Jerusalem.  Where did you go for your interview?

Nope. Visas are either refused or rejected...both of which we would call "denied". Refused means they made a decision on it (i.e. after the interview), whereas rejected would mean that not everything was ready for them to make a decision (i.e. you never show up for the interview, you don't have documents necessary to do the interview yet, etc.).

A refusal under 221(g) can still be overcome by providing the requested documents, as you did (although it obviously doesn't mean that if you provide the documents that they will definitely approve either),

Edit: Well, visas are also "approved", but that's not one we see often. :jest:

That's the US Consulate in Jerusalem.  It's not a US Embassy.

Knowing exactly where you interviewed can be helpful to figure out what went wrong.

I definitely went to the Consulate in Jerusalem (not embassy in Tel Aviv), you have to blame it on my lack of proper terminology

Do you guys think that there's hope that its a temporary refusal (221g)?

I need some hope

What strikes me as odd and really strange is that they asked you for a resume. If you're applying for a K1 visa why do they need that? They asked me a lot of questions about.my fiance and his family. I can't remember more than one question about my work. Mostly if it was about work they asked about his work, since he's the one going to support me until I get my EAD and/or GC.

Maybe you should ask them why they needed that.

Possible. Like you said need to wait then perhaps for a bit longer to confirm the status...

Is a little odd to me, this is the 3rd or 4th 'Refused' status I have seen on here in last 2-3 days, not "denied" but specifically "Refused".

Yes.. this seems to be a new trend.. Hopefully, someone who had the "refused" status can update us on what happened to the case. I am wondering if this is the new thing for AP or an actual refusal

There's is something called T.A.L (Technology Alert List)- so applicants with technological backgrounds will usually be under AP, it's very common in places like India/China/Israel.., the thing is, the overwhelmingly majority are getting approved within 60 days. So asking for my resume is typical and expected, getting refused because of it is extremely rare, so I'm not sure that that's the reason for the (allegedly) refusal.

I do hope that this is a new thing, just like the status "Application Received" i had on May 17th, which was totally new.

You, your petitioner, the congressman should be contacting the consulate.  Not DOS.  Not NVC.  The consulate made the decision, they know the reason for refusal.

I actually was asked what my job is and also was asked what my fiancé (petitioner) is doing for work... so that is nothing unusual. The resume part is what strikes me as odd. Then again I wonder whether it has something to do with the OP being an IT guy. I read somewhere before that if you work in IT in Eastern Countries they check you thoroughly.

My feeling is that they are suspect of his hardware engineer job.  I have seen them ask for resumes before when there is a concern of possible hackers, chemical engineers, etc    When you are in a field of work that could possibly lead to some type of governmental concern they ask alot of job related questions.  It's not common, but I have seen it before.

Denied is a VJ term.  Refused is the term the consulates use.  Refused=Denied

I was going to mention what others have, about "sensitive" professions that get more scrutiny. Usually, you can get away with it by the way you word what you do, while still being honest and accurate. Here is the list:

http://www.bu.edu/isso/files/pdf/tal.pdf

For instance, I have a friend who works in a research lab at a US university and he always got extra scrutiny when going back to the US if he said he did robotics -- which is actually very general and something he says to people who wouldn't understand what he does. So he started being more specific about what he does (computational modeling) and he was not stopped any more. Basically if you do simulations with a computer, they do not care; they just care if you are working on an actual robot hardware parts.

They might need your CV to see if you have worked for non-US companies. Try to be a bit more specific with what you do and really think how you phrase it (again, while being honest and accurate).

Agree! That is really weird. I was a  software engineer too working for an old US based Company (which has a facility in Philippines) before my K-1 application. Although they asked  me a lot of stuff about my work but they didnt ask me for a resume.

Anyways, Shalom David! Hope things will work out well.

From what I have read online since your visa at one point said ready , this might just be a temporary refusal then it might go back to ap or   To ready . My k1 visa was refused and then I got a refusal email stations that we are eligible for a waiver . I am new to all this and have many questions about it myself but I am guessing that the difference between a Dinial and a refusal is that with a refusal they might give you other ways to re qualify for the visa while denied is a plain no . Good luck with everything I know exactly how you feel .
