K1 Filers: How long did you wait before getting engaged? How long did you wait before filing?

Hi all! I've been wondering for a while now how other quickly or slowly other couples filing for K1s progressed. The two main questions I want to know are: 1) how long before you became engaged? 2) how long after your engagement did you file the I-129F petition/receive your NOA1? You can include as much or as little information as you want. I just like data and seeing if there are trends of any sorts.

I met my fiance online in June 2015. My older sister had ended a 5 year LDR (he was from Germany) a few months before so I knew that if I was going to get myself into this it was going to end in marriage. On his second trip, which was three months long, he proposed. He probably was planning on doing it later in the trip since he asked on the first night while may car was broken down on the side of the highway 10 miles from my apartment. This was the beginning of March 2016. I filed our case in November 2017. It took me so long since I was finishing up my last year of school; I was in my job almost a year before I filed just to make sure I was truly settled in it and wasn't going to have anything crop up that could have been detrimental to our filing or eligibility.

Meeting to Engagement: 9 months

Engagement to NOA1: 20 months

My wife and I were introduced back in October 2009 by a colleague at work. The first trip I went to see her was in April 2010 for two weeks. I took another trip in August 2010 for a month in which I proposed. I filed the I-129F in September 2010 was approved in April 2011. We delayed the process in order for her to finish up her teaching job, and was able to get the interviewed scheduled in August.

I visited her a few more times lasting between 2-4 week. One between X-mas/New Years, then in June 2011 for my birthday, and finally a month long trip in August 2011 for her interview/wrapping up personally business before her trip to the US. Married in September 2011 and filed AOS soon after.

We met online around June 2016

Met in person June 2017

Got engaged December 16 2017

Filed K1 December 20 2017 (NOA1 Dec 22)

Its always interesting to see when people start calling it a 'relationship'. I felt like I was in a relationship since the end of 2016, but I hadn't actually met him. I kept telling myself that you can't call it a relationship if you haven't met face to face. You need that last confirmation that what you feel is real and the chemistry is there (and boy did we have chemistry ). So technically we were only dating 6 months before he proposed, but to me we had already been dating for a year. We had been talking about the K1 for a while before he proposed so I had all the paperwork with me when I went over in December.

I have a lot of admiration for people who can handle a long distance relationship that lasts that long. I haven't seen him since March and I'm already going crazy. Feels like it gets harder every time I have to say goodbye.

We met online in July 2015. We talked/got to know one another for about a year before meeting for the first time (June 2016). He made three trips here after that in 2016, and came back the beginning of 2017 for two and a half months. We technically got engaged in August of 2016 during a visit stateside, but he didn't get a chance to "ask" my dad's permission until he came back the following trip (February - April), so that's when we consider it official. We had already decided which route to take at the end of 2016, so we began getting things together right after announcing our engagement in April, and filed for K1 the beginning of that June (2017). Now we are together and married! :)

Think some move faster than others. We met late August 2014. Visited July 2015 and at that point we knew we wanted to pursue it all further but with my work at that point with a lot of traveling knew it wouldn't make sense so we waited until I stopped traveling in early 2016. So we had 2+ year relationship come interview time and all.
