You can argue. But im talking from my own experience with big age gap. And not Only age gap, religion diff, gay relationship.. so yeah all that someone would say is red flag, but red flag is lying to officer, sound nervous,thinking about Your answer..   you just need to be natural and honest. Its your relationship,you are in it,you just talk from heart and they wont question age. 

I spent probably around 6 months hunting for credit card,without having an green card. A lot of banks in US require you to be US citizen but for someone who needs to build credit there is Capital One credit card! I got approved right away after being declined by many others. Yes I tried Discovery, I tried Ally bank etc. None of them let me have one. So I was pretty much expecting to be declined by Capital One too but there it goes, went through. And yes, i did had some credit score thanks to my spouse and joint account. Which is why I got surprised to be turned down. I guess US sees me as someone with no credit score even if I have some. Anyway,for everyone over there trying to get good credit card, its not like unlimited or whatever, its limited on $200 but hey better something than nothing, right? The only thing I needed was SSN and ID card.  So go for Capital One right away so you don't waste bunch of time applying for different ones. I got around 6 declined letters! Hope it helps.

I applied for AOS in California on time and been waiting for 16 months now.... 

My wife USC is 19 years older than me. (both female) 
She is Asian , I am white. 
I am Muslim, she is not. 
She is beyond child-bearing age, I am from a culture where having children is seen as a priority in life and where being gay is not right.
We met online, dated for 6 months then she came to visit, been together for 2 weeks only, got engaged then and applied for k1. Only met once. 

So that's an answer. 
Age gap is NOT an issue as long as you have enough proof of genuine relationship. 

Between me and my wife is 19 years. It wasn't a issue at all... If I didn't mention it, the officer wouldn't either. He just said to me "so what, me and my wife have age gap too" and laughed. I was scared as you are now, just relax and be honest about your relationship. 
So you will not be denied based on age gap, as long as you provide enough evidence of genuine relationship.

I wasn't able either and after being rejected by many banks, finally made it to Capital One. You need to build a credit, so maybe your spouse can add you on one of their bank acc as a joint ,and then apply for credit cards. Go with basic ones, like $200 limit. 

You could check my timeline,even tho its not same country,might be a lil different and mainly bc of covid19, we applied for k1 in Nov and i got approved in June,so can be faster than you think,also could be longer...  And traveling is possible with EAD/AP which i got around 4 months after applying for AOS,and mostly everyone does. I still didnt get GC and its been almost a year. So AP she will get earlier and i heard people travel with it with no problem.

If you are honest,you have nothing to worry about. Worrying too much might sent the wrong msg. So just relax.. Age gap is normal nowadays so they dont consider it as red flag anymore,as long as you show that your relationship is pure.

My personal experince, i was a lil afraid of age gap as a red flag, but the officer in embassy told me that his wife is older than him and thats just fine.

I applied for ID and all they needed was EAD receipt notice (i797c) and i94. Also with address proof,which in my case was bank statement, ssn,and health insurance. 

We just print the pics out on normal size paper and wrote next to each photo short info and that was okay.
