Trump has been talking about denying green cards to immigrants using Medicaid or subsidized ACA premiums.  I don’t know where that idea is in terms of going into effect, but I would research that extremely closely before proceeding.  Also remember your husband signed forms saying you wouldn’t take public benefits.  This doesn’t stop people from being enrolled, but they sometimes chase the sponsor down for reimbursement.  It could also have implications at citizenship.  Not under current rule, but that seems to be the goal.

I would check self pay maternity packages that can be pretty reasonable if you think that your pregnancy is uncomplicated.  I wouldn’t go on the public assistance radar.

TheAkazs reacted to snowcat in Green Card Interview (Approved) - October 2018, SF
I had my green card interview at the San Francisco USCIS Field Office (Sansome St.) at the end of October 2018. Just sharing my experience here.

Our interview was at 9:45AM on a Tuesday, and my USC husband and I arrived at 9:30AM. Please don't bring sharp objects including nail clippers - my husband's nail clippers were not permitted inside, so we had to leave it outside (good thing it was still there when we exited the building lol). The entrance has these x-ray machines for your belongings, as well as for you to walk through; it's basically like being at an airport. We went to the 2nd floor afterwards, where we were checked in by the receptionist and told to wait. There were not a lot of people that day, and many chairs to choose from. We waited for around 20-30 minutes before my name was finally called. We were met by our interviewer, a middle aged woman who seemed to be in her 60s, and led to an office in the back. She asked us to raise our right hands and swear that we tell the truth, then we all sat down.

She asked for our IDs. My husband gave his CA driver's license. I unfortunately had my wallet stolen which had my EAD/AP card and driver's license, so all I had was my passport. She seemed to have wanted me to give more than one photo ID, and better yet a photo ID with my married name on it (my passport is still in my maiden name), but I explained my situation and she seemed content with it.

She asked basic questions: when we got married, how many times we've been married (to different people), if we have kids, etc. She went through the I-485 form and asked us all the questions from there, so it was basically just like filling up the I-485 form but orally and in person.

Then, she asked if we were living together, and I said yes, and she asked for our apartment's lease. I told her we didn't bring it, because my name isn't on the lease yet, since we are just renting and are will be moving to another home in the future. She said that that was fine, and asked for other documents to prove that we live together, like utility bills and such. I gave her all that we had: a utility bill from PG&E, auto insurance cards, health insurance cards, and bank statements from our joint bank accounts, all of which had both our names on them. She took all of that.

Then she asked me for my EAD/AP, had to remind her again that I lost my card, but I did have a new AP that was just a piece of paper. She took a copy of that.

She asked also for my vaccination records, and I just gave another copy of my DS-260. She made a comment about it being expired, and I explained that to my understanding as long as I file my I-485 application before its expiry date it is still valid. She told me she will double-check that with her supervisor and let me know if they need anything else from me. (They ended up not needing anything else so just your DS-260 should be sufficient.)

After getting all these documents from me, she asked us to tell her how my husband and I met. This was our favorite part because we love sharing our story! My husband excitedly told our story, with such great detail, that our interviewer had to stop him in the middle and tell him to quickly summarize it because we didn't have much time left lol! She seemed to be happy about my husband's enthusiasm in telling our story though! And she was smiling the entire time he was telling it.

After we told our story, she asked to see pictures - mostly of our wedding days (we've had 2 weddings so far, a civil wedding at City Hall and a second celebration in my husband's hometown in Ohio - I told her that we will be having a third wedding celebration in my hometown in the Philippines in Feb 2019, and she seemed quite pleased about us celebrating with all our family and friends in our hometowns). I also showed her a picture from the day my husband and I met (which was way back in 2012) and several pictures of us traveling around the world with our families. I was also very excited about showing her our pictures that she asked me to calm down and just give her one picture from each event haha. She kept around 5 pictures.

After all that, she said "okay, so far so good," which helped me relax a little bit. She then went to photocopy a bunch of my documents then came back to tell us that she will be talking to her supervisor about our case, but that it seemed good so far. If there is a problem at all with our case, we will be notified ASAP via mail. Otherwise, I will be receiving my green card in several weeks.

Overall, the interview lasted around 30 minutes. It wasn't as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be! Our interviewer also was quite nice and not too intimidating.

2 weeks later, I receive an NOA stating my application for permanent residency has been approved! Then around 5 days after I received that NOA, I got my green card in the mail!

There are two sides to every story.  He will tell you I don't want him to save money.  I will tell you that I absolutely understand his position and encourage him to save money BUT the amount of money he is now saving in a separate bank account is more than he is contributing to our household and the debt I have incurred because of him.  That's not acceptable.  The burden should not be on me and I will absolutely withdraw the I-864 or risk financial ruin.  He sees me as the means to live in America, work and not have to pay his fair share.  If he loved me, he would want to lift me up and make me happy the way I did for him.  I know the truth.

As others have suggested, take those 6 days to get to know her and her family if possible. No need to rush anything. The more time you spend together before getting engaged or married, the better. Enjoy your time in Morocco.

Edit: You didn't end up getting married in Morocco after your thread from last year?

we have a friend in Nahvile whose parents are here on 2nd trip so none of us really know about the CO and what and why some approved and others turned away

Not different girls. Just other unrelated stuff. He had to go to a wedding in Australia. Booked a 35 minute connection in SFO because it was cheap. Of course there was a ground hold in Houston due to thunderstorms and he missed his connection thereby costing him a night in a hotel plus losing one night of a prepaid hotel in Sydney. But he was proud of saving a few bucks on the flight.

Although VAWA claims with USCIS is almost , like Mazie Hirono puts it: When a woman accuse you something, just believe her! Perhaps you should speak to a lawyer, you do have a complicated case.
    a side note:
You said you aren't even sure if the second guy you had one-time sex is the baby father, lady, please use protection for your own sake!

depending on others for financial support or living space also causes stress in the relationship
when getting into this process the USC should know all that is involved (travel expenses, fees, cultures, family values / just everything)
if you can't afford it, don't do it

You are not describing a "change" of policy.  Low income petitioners bringing younger male spouses from Morocco is not just a public charge concern.  It's an even bigger indicator of possible marriage/immigration fraud.  Often the answer to "How can you afford to travel if you need a joint sponsor?" is because the foreign spouse is the one footing the bill PRIMARILY in order to get an immigration benefit.

That's why visa issue is ALWAYS a judgment call on the whole case, not just the public charge issue.  Get familiar with the concept of "Totality of Circumstances".

one announcement a few months ago scared everyone but it was a rule passed in 2009 and was nothing new

We have traveled our Visajourney to the end, success !

We followed the steps provided here on the Visajourney website, mixed with prayers, and support from our friends, my wife became a US Citizen on 8/12/2018!!!
It takes a lot of patience, but if you do your homework, file the correct documents, and supply the required information, you will win.

My wife took her Citizen exam on the Sept 12, 2018, she told the examiner she was able to answer all 100 questions, she killed it. My wife said she was a little disappointed because she was so ready they only asked her the simple questions. After her test, they invited her to take the oath, about 2 hours later on the same day. We had and huge hurricane coming in, and since we were already there in the office she agreed to take the oath. We were expecting to get a oath ceremony in about 2 weeks, we wanted to invite some of our friends to attend, but due to impending weather she went ahead and took the oath. We have a new American!!

My wife is from Romania, she told me, when she was a child and saw airliner fly over her house in Romania she would wonder if it was going to America, Our started our journey  2013,
and now she is here! Our next step is for her to pass her nursing license.

Many of you know about this, but what a feeling it is to be able to be part of someone's life long dream, and watch them become an American...the right way, and forever

    Thank you Visajourney!!
I have recommended at least 3 other people to join and win!

Best wishes to you all, God bless!

I am a big supporter of journalism and the media and hate how they've been attacked a lot lately. I also have a lot of criticism of the current administration. So please keep that in mind when I say this: a lot of what you're reading and hearing regarding immigration is biased with the purpose of pushing people's buttons. It is not objective journalism with the intent of educating the American public on how their own immigration system works. I've read so many articles about people getting arrested at green card interviews, only for the writer to say something asinine like, "The interview is the first step in obtaining a green card." Unfortunately, a lot of these articles are written for the specific purpose of igniting passion either against or in favor of the current administration's "policies". Meanwhile, those who are aware of the system's methodology (such as ourselves) know that the system itself is largely unchanged and will probably remain so for the foreseeable future.

That said, please just go on your trip and enjoy yourself. You obtained your permanent residency completely legally and travelling is a privilege that not everyone in this world gets to enjoy.

I'm in a hetero marriage and we've decided to not have children. It's not an issue for immigration at all, you don't have to explain the lack of them or anything like that.

My husband is an over-spender and I save every cent I can. What we did was create a joint account and pay all of our bills from it, or give each other money we owe to each other through it. It makes it look quite active and it's actually been very convenient for us. We have our wages paid into our own individual accounts and have separate credit cards and neither of those was an issue for ROC.

ROC was long, annoying and frustrating, especially with the technical issues USCIS keeps having. But in comparison to getting the visa to come here, it was a walk in the park. You send in one form with all of your evidence, go to a biometrics appointment and then wait for the outcome. Usually there is no interview for it and if you sent in a diverse package of joint thingies, you're not likely to get an RFE either

You CAN get married on a tourist visa as long as you do not overstay and you return home after the wedding.  People do destination weddings all the time.  What you CANNOT do is enter the US on a tourist visa with the intention of marrying, staying and adjusting status.  That is immigration fraud.
