Hello guys...I am a US citizen and have been chatting with this nice girl who i met online from Morocco. but after reading online about high fraud cases from morocco i am somewhat worried...i brought this up to her and she told me not everyone is like that...she even said he will promise her hands on the koran that she just wants a genuine relationship and not just for visa purposes..i am also thinking of getting engaged to her and meeting her parents which she said is perfectly fine...

my question is for those who have more experience please guide me if i am doing the right thing of going there soon and getting engaged to her and then inshallah get married on my next visit to start the CR1 process...to get engaged she told me just some sweets and a ring to show people that she is engaged thats all...any inputs will be much appreciated...

That's all fine and dandy. To pull of the CR1 or K1, you're gonna have to go there multiple times though. What you want to have is documented evidence of your relationship. They don't care about an engagement party or a wedding. They only care about evidences that you can provide that prove you are in a genuine relationship. So the more time spent together, the better. Good luck.

respect the culture / ask her what is important like not displaying emotions like kissing in public

so, you do not embarress her or you to family

morocco is not dangerous but do not go alone in public as they do take advantage of you not understanding the way they bargain

you will be in love with the country,  the fresh fruit, the food

you will not only marry her ,  if you do,  but marry the entire family

take small gifts like costume jewery or perfume to family / fits in a suitcase

do not think to marry on 1st trip

need more than 1 visit to succeed with a visa

google American to marry in morocco to see steps and needed documents to marry when u decide or message me and i will send the info

CR1 for sure

K1 is rarely approved there

8 in July and none in August

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics.html

this site shows approvals by class

NIV is K1 look under post and class

IV will show you CR1 approvals

Ask her how she feels about you relocating to her country to live......

yes,  tell her  you want to move there

if she backs off the relationship,  she is using you for a green card

i did that to someone

As others have suggested, take those 6 days to get to know her and her family if possible. No need to rush anything. The more time you spend together before getting engaged or married, the better. Enjoy your time in Morocco.

Edit: You didn't end up getting married in Morocco after your thread from last year?

gotta love people who research

Really?

So how is this different to the last one?

on my  last visit i never went and it fell apart..this other girl is new:)

she did tell me in regards to my question of she is just coming for visa, she told me she will promise on the koran that her relationship with me will be genuine and not using me for visa,.

not to bust your bubble but many in Morocco are muslims as they were born into the religion and more than many are not real religious

they do not pray daily and a lot have not read or understand the Koran

they do keep Ramadan and fast and kill the sheep in EID but as far as everyday keeping the faith ---not really

i expect a lot of feedback here but i have traveled from Tetaoun to Side Ifni and heard call to prayer and watched the young people not leave the coffee cafes or internet cafes to go pray
