K1 visa interview with no concrete wedding plans

We have our k1 interview Friday. So, I've read that its a good idea to be able to provide concrete evidence of wedding plans during the interview. My fiancée and I have not made any plans for a ceremony yet as the time tables have been really uncertain. Also weddings are crazy expensive and I guess were both sort of financially pragmatic when it comes to that. We were planning to just go to the courthouse and get married pretty much ASAP and then maybe plan a small ceremony or even a less formal reception at a later date after taking some time to breathe and save up and work out the logistics. A lot of people I know here in the states do that, so that seems like a normal thing to me. Would a lack of specific plans for an actual ceremony be an issue? Would saying " were gonna go to the courthouse" be fine?

Just tell the truth.  Can be as simple as what you have written here.

many try to plan and pay out to hold place for wedding and reception and then get surprise as the case goes into AP or is denied

it is not a good idea to make plans until u have the visa in hand and know when u r able to travel

Way back when we did the K1, we had only an idea of the plans for a future wedding.  We actually started planning it after the visa was issued.  Planning on doing a courthouse wedding would be fine.

That's exactly what I was thinking. As long as that's a response that they are used to hearing, then that puts my mind at ease. I think this is more about me being really nervous and trying to make sure that we have no issues.

They are used to hearing it, and it's the only response that really makes sense. You'll have no issues with it.

I know each interview is unique but they didn't even ask us our wedding plans. We did a courthouse wedding the day my husband got off the airplane, wasted no time! Did another ceremony later that year to include family and friends.

In their eyes, that courthouse wedding IS the real wedding. They don't care about any religious ceremony/party/etc. you may have after that. They just want to know you'll get married within  90 days of entering on the visa. Most people don't have a solid plan.

During my K-1 interview, I was asked about our wedding plans. I explained that it is hard to plan a wedding when you don't know when you will be able to move, and that we planned to just go to the courthouse within the first few weeks after my arrival in the US. The officer said that that made sense and that she would probably do the same thing. And then I was told that my visa was approved. It really is nothing to worry about; they just want to make sure that you are actually planning to get married, and it doesn't matter what that will look like for you.

Everything was such a blur that I forgot about this thread but we did get approved. Shes been in the US for 3 weeks and we just got married yesterday!

I was actually asked the date we would get married. I just replied that it would be as soon as we could get a JOP booked. She was happy with that.

To someone in the same position you were in it would make sense to include a statement in your updated letter of intent that you plan to get married at the local courthouse as soon as practicable.
