  1. It is required when you get to the interview stage What country are you from? If you go to your country's US embassy website they should have a list of where to acquire original documents and where to officially translate them. My country didn't require a translation and yours might not too
  2. Sometimes there are Facebook groups that notify you about open slots if the consulate is popular enough. Personally I was successful only after emailing the embassy to please inform me the moment when slots are open, and even then I was too slow and had to ask again. I guess I got lucky or happened across a nice person? Other than that, I'm not sure much else can be done except to just be persistent. It's really frustrating though and I totally understand
  3. Unfortunately, this process can take even up to 2 years until you can be together. There's nothing you can do except wait and communicate with your partner constantly in order to shoulder this weight together. My fiance is the one for me so I would gladly wait to go to him as long as it took. What are 2 years compared to hopefully a lifetime of happiness?
  4. I found him in the most unlikely place when I wasn't looking for anything specific. He is one the kindest and gentlest people I've ever met. He doesn't let bad circumstances taint how he sees the world. Always optimistic. We continue to choose each other every day for 5 years despite 9000+ km between us (hopefully soon to be closed!). I also love that he stays humble no matter how much you compliment him. Practically my other half
  5. We are having the same problem. The call center just says to keep checking the site. I can certainly do that, although it feels much like stumbling around in the dark with no idea of where to go. It's been over a month since your post, were you able to progress at all?
  6. Hmm, I wasn't aware that the wildfires were still affecting things, I remember reading about it last week. August is indeed always an awful month environmentally for Greece. 🙁 Anyway, will keep checking and trying 💪 Thanks for the reply!
  7. Hello all, My case is ready so I've been trying to pay the fee and book an appointment with the embassy, but for the past several days the site has been saying 'There are no available appointments at this time. Please check back in a few days as the Consular Section will open more appointments.' The call center wasn't particularly helpful either. This is the Athens embassy so I'm kind of surprised they have this much of a backlog lol. Is there anything I can do besides obsessively refreshing the page? 😔
  8. I was just about to post a similar query. Mine is expiring on the 26th of August and we are currently waiting for our case to reach the consulate. Is there something I must do on my part or will the extension happen automatically?
