I agree with the stimulus checks. You can send your husband’s to me if he is going to have a moral struggle to accept it.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think the 2019 adjusted income will be the determining factor on the stimulus check eligibility.  So if a married couple made $170,000 last year, and took the standard married filing jointly deduction of $24,000, that would put the married couple below the $150,000 income threshold.  The standard deduction, along with qualifying child care credit and a bevy of other deductions factor into the equation greatly.

 

On a fiscal policy note, the entire bill is full of pork, 5000+ pages plus of deficit spending that has absolutely nothing to do with CoVid relief.  But that's Washington for ya, never let a good crisis go to waste.

Lol ever since first stimulus check we would be happy not to get it. We have enough savings to live.

Only low tax payer are happy to get this stimulus checks. Some people who pays more tax compare to others can relate to what im trying to say.

We will see the change in taxes after this pandemic.

They use AGI for the stimulus. Standard deduction comes after AGI.

My husband and I are also not eligible because we earn too much but we are both supportive of people who need the money getting the money. Frankly, $600 or even $2000 is too low for people in need right now. I'm not so callous as to say, oh, I make a ton of money and have plenty of savings to live on (which is quite true for me) so I don't care if others aren't being supported. I hope this is a language issue here, because otherwise it sounds awfully meanspirited.

Well im not a person who would say those words. But when that person says that my husband don't agree with stimulus check is because we would not get any, it gets into my nerves i have to say something.

 

 

This website used to be a very open-minded in everyone's opinion but it seems to me that some people here are better than everyone.

Stimulus won't affect their uscis situation because stimulus check is base on people 2019/2020 tax

It's against the TOS to bypass the language filters. Just so you know. 

 

When you post on here, you have to be prepared for people to disagree with you. I had to learn that lesson. You don't support people who are in difficult economic situations receiving a check right now, and that's your opinion. I don't need to respect it to respect your right to have that opinion.

We are just under the threshold for a partial payment as a couple but my husband is a house-husband (or whatever the politically correct term is for a man who stays home cooking and cleaning whilst the wife works) so we don’t “need” the money per se, but we will take it and spend even more than we would have done at local businesses who need all the help they can get. I’m pleased that something is being given but I also agree with you that $2k is a drop in the bucket for some people who have been financially ruined by this, through no fault of their own.

Very good point!  The stimulus is not just to make YOU better off.  It is to make EVERYONE better off.  If you don't have a great need for it, go spend it at some businesses that are hurting.  Buy some things at small businesses and then give it to someone who is in great need.  Take a family whose breadwinner has been laid off out for a nice meal at a struggling restaurant.   Many opportunities here!

 

I would recommend NOT to blow it on gadgets for you, on Amazon!
