Carry your green card?

Hi everyone,

I recently got my conditional green card and was wondering if I should carry it with me all the time. What do you do with it?

Law says you must carry it at all times. Does everyone do this ??? Some do and some don’t .. some  carry a  photocopy or picture on their phone .. but legally you’re supposed to have it with you at all times and it’s against VJ TOS to encourage anything else

Thank you everyone! I will buy a card holder to put that and the DL in it. That way, if I lose my wallet at least I don't lose the green card.

Of course I carry my green card with me. It's in the wallet with the rest of my cards (credit, debit, insurance etc).

As others said the law says that you have to carry it with you.

Personally I have a color photo copy of it in my wallet and a pic on my phone, but I am not going to risk to lose it. It costs $500 to replace which would be fine if it wouldn't take a year to get a replacement card....

The only time it's on me if I go further than a few hours from home or traveling somewhere.

Getting I-551 stamp (to comply with INA 264(e) while waiting for Form I-90 approval) isn't guaranteed. First you have to call USCIS Contact Center and the representative might (or might not) schedule your office visit at the local field office (Pittsburgh?). At the office visit they may (or may not) provide the I-551 stamp.

 

Thus, why I agree with Paul's input on carrying a photocopy:
