Now that would be a walk in the park  for a fraudster.....maybe that's  one reason they changed the policy!

Hi Sarge! Long time! Hope all is well with you and your family. My husband USC had a good question. As you know we did the K1 Visa process I had the interview & medical in my home country however my fiancé at that time wasn’t able to attend. They did however drilled me! lol we’re in the AOS phase I just recently got approve for my EAD & AP. With your guess base on what I just briefly told you is there a possibility of an interview waiver? My I-485 status updated 65 days ago to (interview ready to be scheduled)

I did not attend my wife's interview either, so I don't  think that is a factor. However in the cases I have read about here in VJ including  mine your initial interview had to be scheduled, then canceled, then status returned BACK to ready to schedule, then that is the point the next status was new card produced. In every case it happened like that as reported here on VJ.

Having said that I think your interview  has to be scheduled first then canceled. Of course this is all just speculation.

We are well thanks for asking. Bottom line the way things are going with USCIS I think sometimes they don't even know what's going on.  Things changing  every 5 minutes etc! All you can do is roll with the flow. I will say I would have thought there would be more waviers at this point in time considering this Corona pandemic.

The purpose of this thread is just to tracker waivers. Those who had their interview said could please respond with the following info?

- Field Office

- Category

- Visa status before GC

- When your status changed to "card being produced" status

Maybe we can just do that instead of dicussing stuff? I think it would be really interesting and helpful to get some data collected.

Is there a chance to pin it in both AOS topics?

Hi,I will like to ask you if you did the biometrics here or they used the one you did at the embassy?because right now they are not giving appointments for biometrics.

USCIS needs biometrics information in there system from a prior application,  not from the embassy

YMMV

That means we new filers are stucked until who knows....many of us might be getting approved or gc by the end of the year because there will be backlog of biometric appointments and this will take some time and the pressure will be too much on them.

Nah, ASC offices deal with backlogs really fast and easy.  A lot faster than the field office.   If field offices open in  June,  ASC offices will as well.

YMMV

Biometrics was done here in the U.S.

I would have to tend to agree with this as I am thinking that all the reported interview waivers had their biometrics done here in the U.S.

Hi all

For tracking purposes, those who had their AOS interviews waived could please reply to this thread with the following info:

- Field Office

- Category

- When your status changed to "card being produced" status

This way we can get a pulse on which offices were seeing activity in pending cases

Thank you!

All that information is detailed in my timeline in the comments sections. Might be a good idea if you would update your time line also. You are asking for data yet you don't even have a timeline!!!!!

Much ado about nothing. Even with the interview the vast majority of AOS applications are approved and easily a third of those are fraudulent.

Until immigration officer case loads reduce drastically to give them enough time to review application with home visits etc, fraud will continue to be a major part of the system regardless of those borderline useless additional criteria this administration added to the process.

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

AOS from other visas is just not something that has traditionally occurred and is pushing the norms pretty heavily. I'm not saying it hasn't or won't occur...but it is something that I would not expect either. There's just not much faith in that a packet alone explains an entire relationship to justify permanent residency. It provides a decent exposure to fraud IMO...not that most people are fraudulent, but that somebody who wants to do things fraudulently can more easily do so w/o ever having an interview.

It's not only pushing the norm, but also a slap in the face for all those that are visiting on visas and visa waivers while immigration applications are pending, and return to their home country for processing. I have full compassion that new situations require new processes, but blocking one group from coming to the country at all, while lifting all conditions for others, somewhat defeats the purpose of immigration rules and intentions
