A baby monitor aimed at a crib in a nursery is a very different thing than multiple camera systems all throughout a house for the purpose of constant surveillance.

Yep, a much better solution, but seeing as how the op presumably doesn't have access to a time machine, he's going to have to figure something else out. We see it all the time on this forum, and it happens with non-immigrant spouses all over the country. Sometimes people aren't who you thought they were.

And it goes both directions - some USC spouses aren't who you thought they were.  As such, I always advocate for many, many visits and time spent in person before marriage or petitions.  Boggles the mind how many people marry someone after an online relationship and 10 days spent in their company.

You would be very surprised how many ppl I know who have camera's throughout their entire home. Wyze cams are perfect and very good for 25 bucks. I use them also and will be installing more. 

 

A friend just found out that she is not crazy thinking she ate food she didn't remember eating and things being out of place. Her and her son have had funny feelings. Police told her to put cameras up after she found her shower curtain rod moved and damage to the wall. The neighbour told her they head noise from her apartment for at least 2 weeks when she is out. He thought her ex was back and didn't mention it sooner. So yes cameras in the house/apartments are getting to be the norm and many police are recommending them. 

 

Now I'm not saying put them in and don't tell her. In this case he is best to move out. Since the wife took herself off the lease and moved out then returned if he abandons the apartment I don't see the landlord leaving her there long.

I love Wyze cams. And have been using Blink XT/XT2 for exteriors where power lines are unavailable.

 

But there are 2 elements here: knowledge and consent. Knowledge may or may not be required to record whenever there is an expectation of privacy (like in a living space). So to record a visitor, knowledge of the camera may be necessary. Consent can be presumed by their willingness to go or remain there. It's akin to "By using this website, you agree to...".

But one cannot require a tenant to choose "consent or leave". They can - if within local laws - threaten to evict if they do not consent, but they cannot force them to consent to being recorded against their will in their own living space.

That’s interesting, since recently we charged a federal case where a guy put cameras up in his home, including the bathroom, under the guise of security/unfaithful wife and now is facing attempt of production of CP. I wonder if the police recommended  those cameras.

The bathroom and/or bedrooms would be the obvious red flag. Even visitors are entitled to a strong expectation of privacy in those cases, unlike common spaces. I'm betting those would be strong factors in said case.

A shower curtain rod was mentioned previously, which is why I figured I’d mention it in case anyone thinks bathroom cameras are a good idea.

Seems there are issues with those cameras being hacked. I am looking at getting a new laptop and seems many now come with physical shutters for the camera.

Absolutely, but her not being in the lease does allow him to move out and he doesn’t have to take her with him.

It's sad to learn of what you are going thru OP but, at the same time, I am sure the signs of her erratic behaviour was plain as the nose on your face. You brought her here on a Fiancé visa and she's been tugging at your heart strings and causing you hurt.....it makes me wonder how long you knew her....like really knew her.....before you decided to make a life with her.

She talks about VAWA, etc like someone is advising her on how to do things. My best advise = Get out early and while you still can to preserve your sanity.
