Wow! We almost have the same timeline. Lol.

Jan. 6 - sent out package

Jan. 8 - received package

Jan. 13 - got text messages for all 3

Jan. 22 - got hard copies but is dated Jan. 13

Our mail is crazy slow.

Folks i posted this as a topic. Feel free to wink at it to understand how the AOS process happens once your package is delivered at USCIS.

Hi guys, my husband and I are sending out our AOS today. We plan to use money order (possibly 2, if they won't allow just one for the full $1,225) and ship to Chicago IL. I just found a slight hiccup on the USCIS website about the filing fee though. Hoping anyone could help:

According to https://www.uscis.gov/i-485 :
"
You may pay the fee with a money order, personal check, or cashier’s check."
Updated Dec. 26, 2019

However, on
https://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-updates-fee-payment-system-used-field-offices :

  • Chicago, Illinois;

Effective immediately, these offices will only accept payments in the form of a:

  • Personal check;
  • Attorney check;
  • Business check;
  • Debit card;
  • Credit card; or
  • Reloadable prepaid credit or debit card.

Updated June 19, 2019

I'm wondering if it's safe to disregard the conflicting information, go with the most recently updated one? Has anyone here successfully processed their payments through money order/s recently?

Thanks and good luck to everyone! 😊

If you don’t use a check, I would recommend using a cashiers check.

Sent AOS packet to Chicago lock box. They received it on January 2 and finally, after a 3-weeks wait they cashed their $1,225 check. I never thought I'd be so happy to see this much money vanish from our back account. After seeing so many posts indicating NOA received and checks cashed within 3-7 days I thought they surly lost mine. Now at least we know they got it and someone over there is doing something about it. The wait for the NOA begins.

That's a relief. We just shipped our package and we used a cashier's check instead. Thank you for your helpful response! 😊

Just curious, does USCIS update their website for biometric appointments, or is that just for the interview?

I was wondering the same but couldn't find something about it on Google so I guess there's no update for that. The next updates would be after the biometrics. Don't have my appointment letter either btw.
