Event Description

Embassy Review : The day of the interview, my fiancé was asked for his paperwork and they only took my (the petitioner’s) I-134 form. I had prepared all the documents and another affidavit of support from my sister as I just started working earlier this year so I don’t have any tax returns, even though I make more than enough. They only took my paperwork and rejected the joint sponsor. I had him bring a replica of the documents we sent in to the embassy in case they needed it.
Documents we brought to the interview:
- Replica of the same packet we sent to USCIS
- I-134 with updated documents for myself
- I-134 with updated documents for joint sponsor (they rejected it because my income was enough and they do not take joint sponsor for K1)
- Letter stating wedding plans. We showed a letter from my uncle, who is an Imam and a registered civil marriage officiant saying he will conduct our wedding on the letterhead of our wedding venue).
- Photos over the 3 years, and more recent photos taken after filing the petition.
- Photos from the proposals (family engagement and private proposal).
- Proof of eligibility for health insurance (not needed)
- My university diploma copy and transcript copy, as well as enrollment verification
- Employment verification
- Bank statement with last 12 months of deposits
- Updated letters of intent to marry (not needed)
The interviewer is particular about only answering what they ask, so try not to add information they did not ask for. They also ask the same questions in different ways to see if you change your answer. He was asked the following questions:
Who petitioned for you?
How did you and your fiancée meet?
How did she go to the USA?
How long has she been in the USA?
How old was she when she went to the USA?
Why did you decide to do the K1 visa instead of the spousal visa?
What are your wedding plans? (
What do your parents think of you marrying in the USA instead of here?
Did you bring any photos with you?
Then they saw the photos and said “Okay, I can tell you are really in love. That’s a lot of photos! Congratulations, your visa has been approved. Follow the instructions on the paper and you should get your passport within 15 working days.”
Then they handed my fiancé the approval letter.
His status went to Application Received, then Administrative processing for about 2 days. Then it went to Application Received again for a couple hours, then back to Administrative processing for another two days. Then, it was ISSUED! We received the passport and visa about 10 days after it was issued.

I will say this embassy is very efficient!!!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
